  1. A year ago today i lost my beloved fergy in what can only be discribed as a tradgic accident. I got him for my 21st bday a little bundle of pug he had my heart from day dot. I miss him everyday but everyday it does hurt less. I cant beleive how quickly a year goes
  2. I go there, i find it great would highly recommend it, was there anything specific you wanted to know? ETA by there and it i mean hillsborough all breeds dog training club!!!!
  3. Hmm, would be very, very careful about that second one... Show people have the one before the RAAF base and have been in the business for decades, very professional and very good with the dogs - Belmont Kennels. thats good to know ive only seen it from the outside and like i said it looks alright but other than that i hadnt heard anything of it!!!
  4. I havent used any borading kennels around here, but a few people have said that there is one at bereisfeild or woodberry thats all right theres also one on the way to the bay sort of just pass the raf base and it looks alright. Sorry cant help more than that!!!

    To All

I am the same griff...its been almost a year since fergy passed and since then i find it very hard to come in here!!!
  6. When we got my rescue dog sam he was extreamly fearly of EVERYONE. It took ages to get him to come around it took him two weeks to actually start approaching people and even then he would only approch me or mum. I started him at obedience straight away and that was good for his self esteem. It took him a year and a half of dog training at dog school for him to let people approach him for stand for examination. It took him about 6 months of constantly seeing my stepdad and brother everyday before he would happily approach them. All they did was ignore him and everything he did and just went about their daily routine. (and one day he just started going to them.) You sound like you are doing everything you can for her to come around it may just take abit of time. I hope some one can help you guys more. ETA one thing we did do was my stepdad and brother started to feed sam and because he loved food soooo much he start to get excited to see them when they had his bowl, not sure if it really helped but it seemed to.
  7. sounds like crap...sounds like a wives tale ....i doubt that letting the dog get its jig on is really going to help, but im happy to be corrected!!!
  8. the sleeping lots is normal... all baby puppies do is eat play and sleep alot
  9. why put the dog outside when its older why not just crate train it then it can always sleep in its crate inside the house? All of our dogs sleep all night in their crates no dramas, for us its a saftey thing, for them its a comfort thing, they love there crates and blankies ect.
  10. our dogs had RC and all looked like crap on it but were fine on EP...each to their own i guess!!! We are now trying to feed all raw
  11. one well aimed canine and the little frenchy could have some irreversible damage. I dont let dogs sort it out for themselves. If your frenchie looks at the rottie wrong I would grab two saucepan lids and bang them LOUDLY at him and then shout 'NO LEAVE'. Supervise snack times and let him learn that if he stuffs up food is gone. He's taking advantage of the rotties nature but the size difference worries me if he pushes the rottie too far. The trick is to get it before he gets to the stage of exploding a the rott. He leaves his food and starts trotting over BANG BANG BANG BANG in his face NO then take his food away and put him outside. Want to be a little macho man? Fine, starve. The loud noise will prevent his anxiety coming out as aggression, you will scare him and break his train of thought. Then simply march him away from her eating quietly and ignore him. fantastic advise

  13. I sort of agree and sort of dont if it were me i would feed Huey in a crate until you can talk to a good dog trainer, he's only young and something you arnt aware of could be triggering his food aggression. Chance are the above two posters are right and bean probably wouldnt do anything other than snap back ect but do you really want to take the chance that this is all she will do? Dogs are dogs and If heuy is being nasty over his food and she snapped back he might not back down and could push her more than he should (if that makes sense)!!!

  17. Yep after a hell of a xmas period last year we decided to be prepared this year...we arnt working 10 days straight like we did last year and we are finishing up on the 22nd instead of xmas eve We also decided that we wernt going to book in any dogs we hadnt all ready previously washed or clipped thru out the year...no one timers, only exception was people with puppies but even then we werent too helpful...the last three weeks of work were booked out like 4 weeks in advance which is great for us not so great for them!!! We have had stupid ammounts of abuse also!!!
  18. kaz im soooo sorry to hear about xander he was such a wonderful man!! run free xander!!!
  19. My mum and i are mobile groomers and no dog we do goes back with knots....We are a part of a franchies and in my opinion theres only one other girl i know who works within the same franchise that actually grooms dogs properly...we recently had to give up a few customers who werent in our area to a new girl who came on. Every single customer we handed over ended up making complaints about her!!! She didnt dry the dogs properly she groomer/washed long hair breeds in less than 15minutes...these are dogs we were taking atleast 45mins to an hour on. so yes ALOT of mobile groomers suck, sorry you had a bad experience with one!!!
  20. i agree get in touch with a vet asap ive had a handful of clients whos dogs have had reactions to grapes, better to be safe than sorry.

    Angus

OMG, danois, thats terrible news, my thoughts are with you, i know how hard it is to loose one so young. rip angus, such a beautiful man.
  22. i avoid giving my pugs chicken necks til they are about 6 months (and abit bigger) cause 9 time out of 10 they eat them too quick and choke. Dont know if your cav would be similar perhaps ask another cav person. when they are tiny pups i feed them chicken mince.
  23. I know ... it's just that I left my dog in their care so they can "care" for her - otherwise I would have left her at home. true but things happen she could have hurt herself also if she was left at home. hope she is on the mend!!!
