  1. My GSD bitch stopped my ex husband from hanging himself years ago.
  2. Foxes "stash" food. They kill as much as absolutely possible then hide it in as many places. This way they have food for the winter. Its actually quite clever. Also what is amazing about the russian foxes as they started changing almost immediately. Not after years of work. Within 3 generations there were sometimes major changes. I actually think there may be merit to this. A) public are more likely to hand in the cute babies if they have a chance. B) even if a desexed animal escapes it could still have a positive effect. Some experiments with feral cats overseas has shown that desexing a tom and letting him return to the wild can reduce numbers as he will still stop other males from mating with the females in his teritory. Mind you Id be pretty angry if they were selling them entire. Nor do I think a permit is a bad idea.
  3. My Czech Shepherd was weighed at the vets often and for a while was around 65kg. We did manage to get her down from that but I can certainly imagine a dog reaching 80kg. Infact Im pretty sure Ive known a rotti around the 70kg mark. Died young too. Id still avoid soneone who breeds that kind of size. Highly unlikely they are healthy animals that will live long lives. I always ask people how much extra they are willing to pay for all the medical bills that are likely to come along and how their kids are going to handle it when the dog dies after a few years. Like others have said some people just want the bragging rights though.
  4. Thanks. That was her at 5 months I think.
  5. Sure. You can also google Timber Shepherds. Another working line. Ive posted this pic before but there you go :)
  6. Incase anyone is interested its been confirmed (as you can read for yourselves) that the sire and grandsire are non registered which given there has been crosses out of that kennel before is a bit suspicious. I will leave you all to make up your own minds :)
  7. $1500 to start i think. Mystic I will eventually lol. She wasnt bred to look like a wolf. She was bred to be a good worker.
  8. There was at one stage someone trying to breed "Alsations" as a new breed. Basically tall WL looking dogs. They wanted the completely flat backed. Ive heard of this cross before too. Its one of those moments you smile and back away quickly!
  9. Most shocking I have seen in PP is still husky x pitbull pups.
  10. Mita I have heard a similar story. Except a friend was always saying the dog would never hurt him as they were friends. Then one day he saw both the handler and dog out and ran up to pretend punch the man. He soon saw what happens when somene attacks the handler
  11. Yes the wolf was giving off certain signals but then was very very relaxed for what I would expect in that situation. Infact i would go so far as to say the behaviour was very unusual. Ive seen wolves taken into situations like that and it was very different. There was something about the wolf though and its head. Almost seemed dog like in some shots but wasnt sure I was imagining things. There are definately things which could be applied to dogs but on the other hand there are some very unique wolf behaviours IMO. There was a doco on the other day and the guy said something along the lines of a wolf is a dog but to the power of ten
  12. I have my work on a fb page. Ligerwolve Designs. http://www.facebook.com/#!/LigerwolveDesigns
  13. I was there for that! Yep the bite turned quite nasty. Never underestimate a dog or a bite.
  14. Id love to come. Been ages since Ive seen some of you. Human or dog I dont mind.
  15. IME and from information I have read they have an indepedence that is unlike the spitz breed. Its suggested that dogs are like young wolves mentally and others suggest highly tuned to our facial expressions and body language. They lack a sort of mental independence. Wild dogs would posses this. So yes there ARE indeed things they can contribute in the right home for the right job. As someone else mentioned stamina may be another. Ive owned a "wolfdog" (not a hybrid) and she was unlike any dog or dingo for that matter. She grasped a greater number of "commands" for a start and would fix issues she felt were a problem without prompting from us.
  16. I dont think you will find many people on here that would suggest leaving a dog unsupervised with kids. I have had a bomb proof dog but yes if anything did happen you could only blame yourself.
  17. Also you do admit that the "real dog" you own was created because someone wanted something different from what was around and its believed that included crossing with a wolf? Perhaps people see something new and worth working with in the Dingo?
  18. Ok I should probably back out now. I own a GSD and used to breed and show. For what its worth my bitch is no push over but I find what you have written quite troubling. From that alone I dont think your dog sounds much like what was originally designed either but Im going to assume thats just the way you worded it. A GSD should IMO have a very strong stable temp. and not resort to any aggression till needed.
