Well I would agree that the females were better as I bred the girls  and co-own the youngest one .. lol no kennel blindness here :D There would have been a wolf sable coloured female, Takas Cleopatra http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=63011 and a tall female in the puppy class, Takas Cio Cio San. http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=63012 I'm glad you liked the Anatolians :) Hope you can spend more time with them soon.

The four Anatolians would have been two males and two females? :)

human aggression/dog aggression are not always faults and exist in stable, correct-tempered dogs. Unfortunately there are very few genetically stable Australians with good knowledge about dogs. Interesting that Australia finds it so difficult to manage dog attacks yet many countries not as 'advanced' have no problem at all. Advance Australia Fair ... alas there is nothing advanced about the Australian custom and culture towards its dogs. RIP Bear and Koda.

Shantiah was the flower arrangement for a dog or a dog person :)

On alternative breeds: Central Asian Shepherd could be ideal in the circumstance; as they are family protectors foremost. But Central Asian Shepherds are very rare, so puppy wise a CC would be more accessible.

RE Fencing: I dont think any dog could be trusted to not step through farm fencing. Farm fencing is easily upgraded to dog proof fencing, so I don't feel that fencing - as long as the owners are willing to upgrade - is a breed specific issue. It is paramount for all dogs to be contained.

Traditionally Guard dogs were/are family dogs. They must protect the family and guard against all else. Inherently in this job discription is a dog which has good nerve and good instinct. So there is nothing which voids a suitably selected guard bred dog, to also be a family dog - other than the owner understanding what this type of dog is. The formal training is no biggy. Arguably lots of stupid ideas and understandings are 'taught' to those that have no experience to draw common sense from... So imo :) the best source to find out if CCs are suitable or not would be to ask CC owners/breeders.

DDL these forums are about the breed, but whether we like it or not, the ANKC breed classification issue was an issue :) Fortunately Turkey have conducted DNA research and developed a DNA breed identity test, so Ankara can now identify Kangal via DNA analysis. :)

Yes dedicated breeders do pay big bikkies for a dog and then let it reach 18 months without having been shown. I'm a multiple offender :D I dont know about a mobile life in an RV. Could be good for a Dane, could be not. No way can I tell from here.

To Report Or Not To Report...
BJean replied to Chris the Rebel Wolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
whoah. I'd just speak to them Chris :) Tell them that they really need to improve their gate fixture; explain that you are no longer comfortable and you would like them to do something about the dog. Councils and bureaucratic mess, inevitably end up just being that. I don't agree with the neighborhood avenger ethos that you should report it to council for the sake of the community ... try to sort it person to person. -
I guess it depends on what you are familiar with. I have an import that cost me no less than $35,000 AUD. If someone asked me what my dog was 'worth' - yes it would be 35,000 plus some. 'The poor little bugger' probably had his ears cropped in his country of origin. But apparently he was imported from Australia. So the dog had it's ears cropped in a country where ear cropping is legal? Still doesn't make it a poor little bugger. Unless that's the way you describe every recipient of a veterinary procedure.

The 27k could have more to do with bragging - like how good the dog is and his worth as a stud dog to their breeding program. Maybe the dog traveled USA - Eur - Australia, to do a show circuit? Lots of scenarios are possible. I don't know why fellow breeders have to think the smallest of every other breeder. 27k? Cool. Good to read about a breeder who has pride in their bloodstock.

Good luck Kangalz :)

So Lilli ANKS is not matter. QLD they make the truths and Kangalz is real breed. I'm turk so I know what I saying on this one!! Kangalz, I do not think Dogs QLD can act on their own, and ignore ANKC Rulings unless Dogs QLD want to expel themselves from the ANKC. I doubt this is the motivation. Probably the person who wrote you the email, is having a joke (otherwise why would they actively encourage you to dismiss Dogs QLD's Authoritative body: the ANKC) or the 'Canine Committee' the author refers to, is not that at all. Who is the author of your email?

It depends where it is from; it seems only the rider of the horse would know :)

I doubt you can enter a Kangal in the Ekka, as if you 'win' you will receive no Challenge cetificate or BOB Champion certificate from the ANKC. The ANKC ultimately run the show. Are you able to post the information you are referring to, or a link to the information?

Just an update for consistency, 16 May 2012 In accordance with Item 5.3.3 of the ANKC October 2011 Board meeting minutes, please note that as from 1 January 2012, all Kangal Dogs on the database were changed to Anatolian Shepherd Dogs. However, Dogs Queensland had some concerns with how this decision was reached and based upon this, a rescission motion was lodged with the ANKC on 6 March 2012, which was circulated to all States at that time. The States were given until 4 May 2012 to reply. I wish to now advise that this rescission motion was lost and as a result of this decision, the motion as resolved at the October 2011 ANKC Ltd Board meeting remains being that, from 1 January 2012, ANKC Ltd will combine the registrations of Kangal Dogs and Anatolian Shepherd Dogs under Anatolian Shepherd Dogs. http://www.cccq.org.au/News.aspx?id=428

You tell me about 1 feral dog population living in the middle of sydney??? Some people posted some really interesting things based on their knowledge of breeds close to their heart. Others seem to have nothing better to do with their time than go off topic with random comments. Dont worry I won't bother posting anything here ever again. So no apology then. You got to love the tanties PF :D Some things on DOL never change  By By Polite Paws (but not on FB?)
