Thanks Dan, all the experiences I've had with them up till now have been good, it is EPH that we bought that was apparently out of stock. Like I said I don't mind if they are out of stock, but I would appreciate a response to the several emails we've sent or at least an update on the order status considering it's been two weeks past the date they originally told us it should arrive by. I mustn't have let the phone ring enough to get the answering machine.

I don't know if she had a bad experience, at least she hasn't to my knowledge. She won't work in well in drive out on the grass. She used to, and if I give her her drive command word she WANTS to come out and will hang around on the sidelines trying to and if I coach her enough she might come onto the grass a bit but she keeps trying to get back to the side bit and will give me a bit of drive but not her normal standard. Yeah I do TSD, but even if I take food out and try to train her she is still wary and doesn't want to come out onto the grass. She'll run to me to get the food but will run back to the side lines where the pebbles/rocks are. ETA: I will try and get a video so you see what I mean!

Ok, so Daisy has started refusing to go out onto the grass in the backyard. We've been in this house for almost six months and this is a new problem. The grass doesn't have any prickles or anything in it, and the other animals have no issues walking on it. But every time Daisy goes outside, she refuses to go on the grass and will only walk out along the side bit that has pebbles on it. If I take treats out with me she will follow me very reluctantly but won't walk straight onto the grass. She has NO problems walking or training on grass any where else, it's just the little bit in our yard. What could possibly be causing this? How do I fix it?

We ordered some food from Pookinuk more than a month ago now, they said at the time that it was out of stock and it would take 1-2 weeks extra to deliver. We were fine with that and paid for it as we needed the food and didn't mind waiting a couple of weeks for it. We bought another brand of food at the same time and received that within the week. It's now been more than a month and we still haven't received the rest of our order, at least $50 worth. We've sent various emails to two different email addresses and they have gone unanswered, I try calling the number on their website and the phone rings out (there is no answering machine). Has anyone else had this issue? I've been buying from them for some time now, and have not had this problem before. I understand if the food is still out of stock, but it's more than double the time they said it would take, and they have charged us for it and won't respond to our emails about it.

Comon Things People Dont Realise About Your Breed
huski replied to MonElite's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sibes: - Yes they can actually be taught to walk on a loose leash. If your Siberian is pulling you everywhere it's because it hasn't been trained otherwise NOT that he's "born to pull" - Just because they are independent and strong willed does not mean they can't be trained especially when it comes to being taught a reliable recall - Whilst they are stunning that is not a good enough reason to own one - Oh and he's NOT A FREAKING MALAMUTE!!! OMG the number of people who will argue with me until they are in blue in the face that my pedigree Siberian Husky is a Malamute astounds me... Beagles: - Beagles are NOT dumb or untrainable - My beagle is not a fluke and I'm not "lucky" - it took (and still takes) quite a bit of work to get the drive and focus I have now! - Yes they can be taught not to scent, being a scent hound does not mean they can't do anything else reliably - Just because they are hungry all the time does not mean they should be fed more - beagles should not be fat! -
I bet you could frisbee a Krispy Kream beautifully! You crack me up!!! Hahahaha! That's gold. Great idea ;) Don't laugh. I am seriously considering it ;) I know and Daisy is DEVASTATED :D I am looking forward to discussing it too Tony Hope you have time for a chat on Tuesday. I am really looking forward to it. Daisy is a pretty low drive dog so I am sure working her in food drive is nothing like the drive you would get with your guys working with a prey item. I also have no idea how agility works so I am sure it will be one big learning curve ;)

Do you think it can be trained relatively well with a drivey food driven dog AD? Or does the dog really need to be toy/prey driven?

I like my dogs to be able to work on voice and hand signal. Remember at the end of the day, it's still just the instructors opinion, and what you want from your dog can differ from what they would want for theirs. Puppy schools aren't really my thing either. Though I know some puppy school instructors who will try and make you terrified that if you don't go to puppy school your puppy will turn into an unsocialised fearful or aggressive monsters.

Giving The Right Amount Of Information
huski replied to corvus's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Well that depends what you are rewarding for, doesn't it? :D I'd reward my dog for simply standing there if I was building a solid SFE, for example. Or rewarding them for not jumping up etc. -
Gosh Cos he is just too damn cute!!
-
What an awesome camera Katie! Can't wait to see the pics you take with it.
-
Thanks TSD for also clarifying! We start agility classes Tuesday week so hopefully I will pick up a bit of the lingo sooner rather than later!
-
Oh thanks for explaining Nik! I have a terrible sinus head ache again this morning so my brain is just not working BTW where are your vids from the trial last night????
-
TSD do you mind clarifying for an agility noob what you mean when you say you can't set your dog up in an obedience stay? Are there rules about how you position your dog when you walk into the agility ring?
-
Training in drive itself requires a relatively fit dog, I also walk my dogs as regularly as I can etc and keep them lean. We have check ups with the chiro vet every six months.
-
Was great catching up with you too Ptolomy! Sucks about the lights - definitely made it hard to get video! Daisy had a good night and is totally pooped now
-
I like my dogs to obey general commands, but I don't like my family members etc using my obedience commands because they stuff them up - for example giving Daisy a drive command but not getting her into drive or using her drive reward. This is another reason why I will have two lots of command words for obedience and general around the house stuff with my next dog.

How many days????? and maybe your mum would like to come for a drive tonight Usually two at the minimum (so no walks, no big training sessions etc). I also try to fast her 24 hours leading up to a trial. LOL I will try all the tricks I know to get out there tonight don't you worry!!!
-
I try not to do anything at all in the days leading up to a trial.
-
This is UNACCEPTABLE!!! LOL Hope you can make it I need a vidoe taker-er!! Cos we're gonna get an OC leg tonight!!! Me too!!!! I am DEVASTATED!! It's all my sister's fault as she has taken my car (long story). Only way I can go now is if mum lets me take the BMW. Which is not likely.

Hey Ptolomy and Seita and anyone else going to Pine Rivers tonight, I may not be able to make it Will try and get there but at the moment it looks like I won't have a car
