I got my treat bag from Erny (Pro K9) the other week - it's awesome! The quality is so superior to my old Black Dog ones. It's the best treat pouch I've ever had

Wow thanks so much everyone for all the responses! I really appreciate. Erny, I might look into getting the stuff you recommended. If I have no luck with it I'll try importing the stuff CavnRott suggested

I broke into tears when I read this Katie, I am so sorry you are going through this Run free lovely Harry dog, he was an awesome one of a kind dog and I am sure he has his own personal toy chucker-er who never gets tired or sick of throwing things for him at Rainbow Bridge.

Thanks Pookinuk. I've sent an email to the above address.

How We Got Started Competing In Dog Sports....
huski replied to ness's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I really wanted a third dog and worked on mum for about six months to get one, under the guise that it would be her dog and she could decide what breed we got etc (had it been my choice I would have got another Siberian). So we got Daisy and at eight weeks she was a TERROR! I thought I had this dog training thing pretty down pat () and had taught her the basics, but she was a nightmare to live with and was a constant challenge. It was recommended we go to the local obedience club. I had NO idea what dog sports involved but I was keen to give it a go. I left the first night in tears as at five months of age Daisy was the naughtiest dog on the field, she barked at all the other dogs, growled at me when I tried to put her into heel position, didn't want any of the food I had and pulled me all over the place. We persevered through classes but I knew she could give me more if I found a better way to train her, by the time she was two I got serious about training her for obedience competition and started doing drive work with her. We've only just started trialling. She would be a way better dog if she didn't have such a dud handler but I'm sure I will be better with the next dog LOL. ETA: Oh and she's definitely not still mum's dog -
Thanks so much everyone for all your suggestions! Glad I am not the only one with frustrating ear infection issues!! Hey Rappie, we are using Surolan and sometimes cleaning them out with epi-otic (so we put the epi-otic on some wipes and clean them out then put the surolan in). She has absolutely no other signs of allergic skin probs, or any other health problems.

Yeah, but that's all the fun of it! Xena is my first dog and we only got into it because she is soooooooooo full on and needed an outlet for it. Who would have known getting a running mate would have taken over my life - and ended my running career. PMSL AD!! Daisy wasn't even supposed to be my dog. She was bought to be mum's

We've battled with ear infections with Daisy for some time now. She is perfectly healthy in EVERY other way, and ever our holistic vet who we take the dogs to for check ups every six months said that usually he sees ear infections in beagles etc because their ears are constructed poorly to allow for air flow, but that's not the case with Daisy apparently her ears are a good shape. I've taken her to our local vet to get her ears flushed out and cleaned because it had gotten so bad, this was on Wednesday when she also had to have a burst cyst removed from her leg. Today the under side of her ears were stained with the black stuff that has been coming out of her ears, so I cleaned them out. It seems like they are full of gunk AGAIN - it's been less than a week since they were flushed out! Has anyone else had this problem? I am at a loss as to what to do next. Our holistic vet tested the infection and it is a yeast infection.

Poor Daisy is the first dog I've ever taught to anything more than sit/down/stay, she's one big learning curve and experiment :D

Thanks everyone so much for all your input. I am going to work on it and see how she goes. I think something freaked her out (or she was being a princess about walking on wet/muddy ground) and now she's gotten into the habit of not walking on the grass.

Best Dog Trainer/training In Brisbane?
huski replied to Stitch's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Stitch, she has experience with heaps of breeds and dogs with very complex behavioral issues, besides she has helped me heaps with my husky and beagle and they are definitely not your standard working breeds -
Bugger Nic! Sounds like everything else was great apart from those couple of things though

Best Dog Trainer/training In Brisbane?

Jane Harper from Dogs on Track is brilliant! :p http://www.dogsontrack.com.au/ I think she's going away for a few weeks tomorrow but she's definitely worth getting in touch with. -
Hahaha TSD she's such a PITA sometimes! I have been thinking of posting about this issue for ages as I've tried getting her to train out on the grass etc and she wasn't keen, then today she happily trotted out when I took food out with me! Grrr!! If she goes out on her own or without knowing I have food she still only walks on the side bit. Haven't done that - will give it a go (luckily I did poo patrol today... lol)
-
I love seeing lots of different breeds competing in dog sports especially doing well! I've seen the video of the JRT doing Schutzhund and I think it's brilliant. Loved watching Luke W's cocker spaniel Barkley doing agility too :p I recently found this vid of a beagle doing agility, what a cool little hound; Anyone else have any vids or stories to share?
-
Great work Luke and Barkly! You guys make a fantastic team :p love his waggy tail.
-
Nope. It's a pretty small yard and we haven't really done anything to it since we moved in.
-
Yeah I made a point of doing so to make sure there weren't any little prickles or something in there - and the other animals aren't fazed by it either.
-
Hmmm ok how weird! I just took her out with a container of treats and she started out walking along the side bit and then had no problem coming on to the grass.... bloody beagle! I am wondering if it's a habit she's picked up since we've had all the wet weather? She got used to walking along the side bit when the yard was all wet and muddy? The only other time she's done this has been when I accidentally walked her out on the field at the local park when it was covered in prickles. If I take her out with no food, she only walks along the side bit.
