  1. I am the biggest wuss ever, especially as my hair gets ruined in the rain makes me look most unattractive However, Daisy doesn't mind training in the rain, and did a perfect down stay last time we went to training and it rained She was NOT impressed that she was put straight back in the car tonight! She had a classic "WTF" expression on her face LOL. She would have loved to have stayed to train in the cold, dark, rain
  2. But the dog is not a working dog. It is a pet dog owned by a new pet owner. This is not the first time "Fiona" has recommended air blocking as the first and only training method, not in emergencies, just because she thinks it will work. And she's recommended it be used on small low drive dogs. How on earth is that necessary?
  3. The sad thing is, is that I had my training session all planned out in my head, I was even going take video to upload to youtube tonight. Stupid weather We went home and practiced fronts and flip finishes instead but it wasn't as fun as training I don't have room to do a whole heel pattern at my house (inside OR outside) or equipment to practice with OR people to chat with
  4. So... hands up if you've ever turned up to training only to find the lights off, paddock empty and you are the only one there because no one else is lame enough to want to train in the rain? Totally hypothetical of course (except for the fact that I did that tonight ) Not only that but the last obedience trial we went to I had badly sprained my ankle the night before, almost a month later, and it's still damaged and sore, apparently because I didn't rest it long enough... pfffft Tell me I'm not the only one whose done something silly in the name dog sports/training/etc
  5. Malsrock was not talking about emergency situations. He was talking about a way to "train" and "cure" the dog's aggression.
  6. Jed - I know someone whose cav has SM (confirmed by multiple specialists) and he came from a registered breeder who owns many show champions - the owner of the sire tests for SM but the owner of the dam does not.
  7. Malsrock... there are MANY people who have trained highly aggressive dogs without using air blocking.
  8. I totally agree again - it is not about whether corrections should or shouldn't be used, but the fact it is not safe to recommend any real method of dealing with this dog's aggression without seeing it. Despite what anyone may infer, no one here knows what method would be best for this dog without seeing it. No one here is a magician, no one can diagnose an aggression problem over the internet without even seeing the dog first.
  9. Regarding SM in Cavaliers, I've heard that it IS a lot more common in than the stats show because it often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.
  10. Congratulations to the WA crew Great job everyone! And go Cider on such a great debut... video anyone?
  11. I was told originally no dogs, but I think they might have changed their minds as I've been asked to bring Daisy along.

  14. Erny I am constantly perplexed by the way the Victorian government banned prong collars with no real supporting evidence.
