  4. T - live trapping is so goddammed stressful for any critter .I have done it - but hate it with a passion . my live traps were placed in shrubbery , protected from the wind and rain , and were secure from attempted predation by eagles etc ......yes they worked for foxes and cats .. but i couldn't be unmoved by the behaviour of whoever was trapped I would much rather the critter be alert, , not alarmed , and then , simply be no more . I am usually a good enough shot to grant them an instant exit from the world.
  5. :D T S D explained it really well > THIS link, followed by THIS LINK is a VERY good read !
  6. he's a lucky boy- hope he soon starts to feel better :)
  7. Playing - YES . :) he can also play with YOU ... which puts YOU as a the BIG TREAT ..the one who has the games/treats :) Whay does he enjoy doing? Play with him doing that . use a longline . Don dog & I play fetch , tug , and 'find it' all on longline :)

  9. LOL @ TSD .. do you just carry a pr of nail clippers and use them as a cue to stop & relax ? ( excuse me ...giggle) +
  10. A failed hunt, but he still got some time in the kitchen ;) a slightly out of focus Don dog , after failing to show me where that scungy looking fox lives ..tracking was enthusiastic , and pretty well accurate until rocks etc got in teh way ...

  12. willem - maybe she needs some 'be calm' training ... sounds as if she is always"on" - and is just getting fitter & fitter, and needing more 'on' time .....
  13. yes- a vet checkup is one thing - a thorough examination , incl blood tests for everything is another - and HIGHLY recommended before playing around with diet ... The only way to find out how his body is actually working , and some of how he is processing his food is to get bloods done .
  14. Lovely colour :) That skin doesn't look comfortable ... but a good diet , with fats & oils should help. Ok - The food he's getting is not great quality Swap the 4X2's for a chicken carcase , maybe ? I second 3 or 4 smaller , more calorie dense meals :) Stuff like chicken skin , a shelled raw whole egg a day , and lots of fresh meat/soft bone . lamb & beef in particular are not as lean as roo . use necks/brisket /flaps /pelvis & spine . Currently we are trying this out - DOG Pro and it seems to be OK . yes, there are MUCH better foods available ..but this suits our budget - doesn't swell up like some kibble , and is very well tolerated by all our dogs . For our skinnier dogs , they get extra real egg , some household left overs ( puddings/ gravies/ pasta) plus LOTS of fresh meat /soft bone .

  16. doll socks ? temporarily - thumbs from gardening gloves , or riggers gloves .. cut to length, and secured with sticky bandage ?
  17. resize photos so that they are under 300kb - then they'll fit :)
  18. What area is the pound? Do you have a full body pic ? She's a pretty girl ! perhaps ask here ? breed club page .
  19. he may not have had much a) exercise b) food to build up muscle . Also he may not have matured yet? I will also ask exactly what he is being fed - and all that stuf :) It helps us to get a background. Did the vets do blood/faecal testing? may we see a photo ? We have a hard working Koolie who sheds & gains weight on a daily basis - he is hard to keep looking 'respectable' ;) he is really healthy...... fit as all get out , muscly and bright eyed ... With Mr.Wiggles, though, I KNOW his breeding , and his activity levels etc - with a pound rescue, that's hard ... he may even have some sight hound in him , which could mean he can easily be lean ...? Hope to hear more from you soon , so we can try helping :)
  20. I think names should be removed, un less you have permission to share them .
  21. I was seriously disturbed last night ...feeling something tickling my bare skin .... Tallie had crept under the covers, and was tail-flicking ! Not keen on that idea !!
