  1. It is a great idea - if the vet will do it :) Lovely thought.
  2. ..slightly OT .... *goes to have a cup of tea, a bex, and some sort of a lie down!* never a dull moment here - Pudden & Ash & Don are chained up close to the back door /porch at night ... they bark ..often... at any other dog , or owls, or things that go 'bump' in the night ... I was taking out a bag of rubbish - when I thought I'd see what had the dogs so excited this time !! Yes, then I heard a 'bang' on the back door -thought it was probably Fred or someone else of the dog persuasion - and opened the wooden door , the screen door -felt a 'bump' then said a rude word and side stepped smartly to stop a large, VERY fluffed up and panicked feral CAT from coming into the Kitchen!!!! What sort of a dim witted cat would come within coo-ee of a house surrounded by dogs ? Obviously one which was attracted by food - and snuck close before the dogs awoke , and , then surrounded, chose the porch and lights instead of fierce dogs . I do think he's still running ... as in his panic he ran, hit a wall , bounced back and hit my legs - took flight, got tangled in a cardboard box - then escaped into the 'jungle'. We walked & searched - Don thought he was up in a tree ( standing on hind legs , gazing upwards & sniffing loudly, then sitting)- but i couldn't see anything . Hopefully he won't return soon - ... We dispatched one a couple of days ago - Molly & Smoke found and cornered it ... Hope it does not signify a 'plague' of cold and very hungry , risk taking ferals .
  3. Miss Molly on Apostlebird Watch , "they went That-A - Way !!" and Don ..just being Don :)
  4. It does sound severe- and will not be a quick/easy fix. There is an example amongst our own DOLers of the absolute heartbreak and upheaval caused by a loved dog with similar behaviours An assessment by a recommended ( ASK ON HERE) behaviourist will help you in decision making . This is a situation, where head must rule over heart ....
  5. I suggest you seek advice from a specialist ..maybe a neurosurgeon , or orthopaedic vet?
  6. so you have not signed anything /made a deposit ?
  7. That's disappointing in one way .. hopefully it was a strain or something which has healed? make SURE you catch anything like that on video ..any limping/dragging, especially with yelps/whimpers.
  8. Good luck at the vets ..it could be several things , so vet opinion is a good plan! Tonight , or first thing tomorrow- see if you can get a video of your poor little dog doing what you describe :) That will be a big help at the vet .
  9. Bear in mind that the only poodles you are likely to see there will be in full show clip. yes - the man of the house will be unimpressed ;)
  10. I know - not a pedigree anything - However .. if you are looking for small , and he 's looking for a macho dog ..how about a"mini long hair GSD" ( chi X ) ;)
  11. Doggy odour depends much on what you humans do in regards to grooming, diet etc ;) Mini Schnauzer? They are great little sturdy dogs :) West Highland Terrier ?
  12. Don't panic just yet - I will advise you to read the info in all these links - They will help explain some of what you've noticed , I think . LINK 1 Development Calendar . LINK 2 Socialisation - what is it exactly ? LINK 3 Socialise now- play later .
  13. Hi :) good on you for researching . Hopefully you will also research breeders before you choose one from whom to buy a pup. Does the breeder show ? Can you do a search for their kennel prefix and look at some of their other dogs/pups? What is the general temperament of their bloodline? Does the breeder appear to mainly breed for a particular colour ? Do they advertise with words such as 'tiny', 'teacup' ? (do NOT settle for a breeder who just happens to have a pup now ...it may not be the best you can do . ) tell them about your plans for a puppy ..and make sure the breeder has written proof of tests done on parents for inheritable diseases - Also discuss plans the breeder has for baby puppies - socialisation , diet ..and ensure this is all as good as it can be!
