  1. perhaps they just wanted to ask, and then do their own thing?I HOPE it's that way - and not bad news
  2. I do hope this time that you take a step back ... research the dog you will adopt, and let your head overrule your heart . Difficult thing to do !! I would also STRONGLY suggest that you consider adopting a dog /pup who has been in foster care :) One who has been fostered will have been monitored and will have a recent history ! Their likes/dislikes/ bad habits will be known- and you can be sure that they are OK indoors, etc .Continue your research ..thump the man of the house and tell him to NOT fall for the first set of big brown eyes and long lashes that blink at him ;) oh - your question - puppies of unknown, BYB breeding may well be 100% wonderful :) They may also have lord knows what problems ..... I wouldn't do it .
  3. a couple of suggestions ? do LOTS of practice with food ..access to pats & cuddles where he needs to really turn his head & use his good eye - so he gets used to doing that more .. also, consider a "halo" :) - or D I Y ;) click HERE
  4. dogs don't seem to worry too much about losing an eye ..it is most often less painful than before :) As to a prosthetic - never heard of /seen it done . I doubt it would provide protection ... perhaps it would also CAUSE injury by damaging adjacent tissue?
  5. if he is currently fine - then why give him the liver at all? It's not worth it ;) maybe dry some chicken,/skin and cut it in tiny pieces?:)
  6. muzzles are the best bet ... for around 2 years after Hamlet ate rubbish and needed surgery he wore a muzzle when out & about - I did NOT want a repeat .
  7. Sounds like just her personality :)
  8. When did this become obvious?
  9. Is this any help ?CLICK Cross breed puppies are often 'accidents' . They can also be the result of someone wanting cash ..so they mate trixie and toby next door, and sell the pups. Then there are the establishments who produce crossbreeds in large numbers- driven by looks ..and purely for income .
  10. ..and you may want to use something like this - just in case :) CLICK HERE. Hope the vet visit will result in some assistance .
  11. Good news. Ok - now ... said with helping your boy in mind .... don't fuss ;) just treat him as a 45 kg rottie .. healthy and strong . Play ball , go for long walks ... enjoy new toys .... all that stuff - as very often , when WE worry , and "hover" over an unwell ..or supposedly unwell dog , unfortunately, that then makes THEM anxious .. wondering just what is different and wrong * sigh* Most of us have 'been there, done that' ... Hope he continues to improve, and you can sleep well :)
  12. if chews cover between 4 and 10 , and if he weighs over 4 , seems like he gets a whole dose ....
  13. beef liver treats ? Hmmmm Liver can be a laxative ....
  14. You don't want the dog to jump ? use a leash ;) by using a leash - dog can learn ..and YOU are in control , so he is safe from mistakes. . You might be interested in some of the writings here too :) best of luck with the new relationship-building ! :)
  15. Blink blink is correct - we cannot see or hear the dog ..and are not qualified to say what vet treatment he needs .... that is all up to you ....all we can do is give our opinions , and compare notes/help you feel as if you're not alone.
  16. oh, and most 24/7 clinics are not "dodgy" they can be the difference between life & death . Yes, accidents happen and vets can be negligent - that can happen in any clinic, anytime . Sorry you had a horrible experience .
  17. He would have had a full anaesthetic - not just something to numb his gums ;) recovery often takes 24 hrs , depending ....and eating/drinking is not a priority ... can you describe what he does when you say he is having these pain episodes? is it anytime/when he does certain things ...when? Does he move/jump/shake his head/step backwards/put his head down or similar when he yelps? Is he enjoying his walks /food/playtimes etc as normal ? Eating fine?
  18. A RAW diet is usually a balance of varied bones/meat - with differing amounts of dairy/egg/veg. Can you tell us more of what he eats, including treats ? It is important to balance things out in any homemade diets , which is why feeding a commercial food is often an easier way to make sure growing puppies get all they need to start life healthily ;)
  19. I once worked with THE most gorgeous lab girl, who was brain damaged due to lack of oxygen at birth . Sarah loved everyone and everything ... didn't really remember much, and had a weird head tilt - and eventually made someone a great pet .
  20. Did puppy have a difficult birth ? What other problems do you notice re: learning ? Does he respond to you /know a name/play with toys /find his mum or you indoors ? All I can suggest is that you make the toilet area large ... use fake grass instead of paper , maybe ? OR take him outside every 1/2 hr ..and play with him /feed a treat EVERY time he toilets , and ONLY then.... and , of couirse, you need to wait until he DOES toilet ;0 I guess you mean CRATE training ? Depending on his behaviour/amount of brain damage /your experience ..it is possibly not the ideal thing ...
  21. resurrection!! :) A shiny new too,l in an app called PIXELMATOR - much fun playing "kaleidoscope" ;) Humour me ?
