  3. pls excuse lack of paragraphs - DOL is not being liked by my computer at present
  4. This is WORD picture ;) Got home from town tonight , not long before dark . no Smoke . OK, says I - i will start unloading groceries..and he will show up.No - that didn't happen . THEN I heard , 'bark , bark, barkbarkbark!" having visions of Smoke and goats on our 70 ft high cliff ..I hopped in a vehicle, and went for a drive/walk .... No more barking - so I thought I knew where he'd be . YES! he was lying strethed out in front of the outdoor heater with the guests we have staying in the old homestead ...He was very happy :) Apparently he HAD been very busy , herding several small goats which missed the truck last night . The men were most impressed - said he knew what he he was doing, and kept the goats in the one spot for ever so long - they even took some photos LOL.DOGS!!!!!
  5. hi - this dog has probably been in a kennel - and barking would be very ingrained after so long ....Perhaps ask the group for whom you are fostering?
  6. I saw the stills & decided to not watch those dogs slip around ...
  7. The vet will do whatever they think is neccessary for a diagnosis, I guess. Dr Google can often be scary , can many times be correct, and can way too many times cause panic for nothing ;) The vet may also listen to breath travelling thru - sounds can help localise problems .. Xrays may not show up the soft tissue ...and the vet may not suggest them at all , depending. make sure you note when the dog coughs - how exercise is tolerated - and how good /bad is the gum colour - this is all helpful stuff . Walk dog in a harness,if you don't already :) this takes away pressure on the trachea , and helps with the cough .best of luck at the vet visit :)
  8. contact westiemum on here (go to "members" and search ) - she has an oldie who had good and successful treatment .Best of luck with it all,.
  9. Littlegifts . LOL Don doesn't really know a lot :) Speaking of soft toys - I need to rake up a 'snowstorm' .....
  10. well, this is a bit of iphone playtime late last night :) ( gee- I have such a full life :p )
  11. oh at least you noticed, and got him checked now, rather than later .
  12. Three things > First - make SURE the person doing /scoring the xrays and making the diagnosis is is very well versed in orthopaedics - then you know you have a solid diagnosis. Second- Talk with the breeder . NOT accuse ... but do talk , and provide them with info so that they can then have it for their records . Third. In discussion with the specialist , work out a management/treatment plan - and enjoy your pup .
  13. it is always so sad that , until something like this happens , many people forget that dogs are PREDATORS - they have teeth, and they do NOT interpret the world as we do.
  14. I guess you have stopped the treatment? It would seem unlikely that the small amount put on a hotspot would cause internal issues ..but I am not a vet ;) Ask your vet in the morning ..and get the dog checked for anything odd going on ....
  15. Dogs are smart - Don & Widget & Possum will ,and do , hunt feral cats ..and will attack them . cats inside though? Widget & Don & Tallie all sleep in my room - the dogs are on tethers , admittedly ...but otherwise inside - Tallie only has to glance at them , and they shrink to teeny puppies .possum always goes up to Tallie whingeing and fawning .... If Toby is shredding wire to access furry things - is there some sort of outrigger fence which could be made 'hot' ? No, I realise it will not dampen her drive /desire ..but may help everyone's sanity ? Kirty - have you thought of maybe attending some retrieve/hunting training? Poodles were originally gun dogs /waterfowl retrievers - perhaps she would shine at that ...and learn some channelling /control ?
  16. ..and she has a nice new 'hoodie' ;)
  17. What a gorgeous and lucky little girl :)
  18. She still can be spritely - well into her teens :)
  19. It's awfully hard for you, being a wildlife carer !
  20. she doesn't care if the ground is crunchy :) LOL We DO get Winter :D
