  1. Don't use it, and never would .... way too much chemical nasty to be injecting into a puppy all at once , IMO.
  2. I would be seeking another experienced veterinary opinion . Remember to write down /add up ALL the little things you have noticed about eating/movement/toilet training... this is not a usual thing ... best of luck.
  3. When we were kids we had a lab ???? basically, if we did suffer damage,it our fault, not hers! She was ever patient and , with ropes on, used pull my brother around in his pedal car.
  4. Of course dogs can work people out. ???? not sure about the taking food thing, but I always take note of how my dogs react to people
  5. perhaps, OP - if the age of the dog , and other info had been provided in the first post .. we would have had more to work on ;)
  6. just like a normal leash .. (we have 2 very old chain leads, with leather handle loops - one from our lab around 50 yrs ago ..and one from my terrier , around 40 yrs ago . They have seen many puppies thru the first tricky days/weeks :) )
  7. here, putting collars ON is a signal for food in the early days . first weeks on leash is a nice strong fine link chain leash - once or twice it may get mouthed ..but no habit can be formed , as it is unpleasant :) I also walk pup where it wants to go - to food bowl /outside / inside for the first few walks ...
  8. sheena - that's a very good result :)
  9. I wonder how much active ingredient is present in /obtained from, pumpkin skin eaten as food ? perhaps a dog would need to eat 1 kg to get any effect ???? :)
  10. ..I would , and do always carry a muzzle with me ! if a dog is injured ..a muzzle is essential to stop bites ......muzzles can also be very handy if a dog freaks out for any reason ... same as I usually have a small slip lead with me - one never knows when it may need to be used. Playing devil's advocate here ;) The person you saw with all those dogs? perhaps owners provided the gear so their dogs could be at least walked? maybe they cannot walk them safely themselves, and this person has proved capable ? ;) My guess is that in big cities there is NO way each dog could be walked singly by walkers .. Walking at night ? hmmmm ...
  11. S'ok - just when I worked with labs a lot - there were so often ear/skin issues after they'd worn a 'cone' for a length of time - because of the humidity , etc ...
  12. was she itchy all over- or mainly on face.? Hot spots are not surprising after a period of having a cone on - the skin stays warmer and more moist ... did you consider food may not be a problem ? it may be her body now 'getting rid of' the after effects of a GA , any antibiotics , and general change. ;) Does your vet usually do well with allergies/skin things ? if she were mine , I'd be just feeding fresh , with a probiotic .. and some ester C ...... lots of exercise ....avoiding heat on the skin not bathing too much ..to see what happens ...
  13. glucodin is glucose ( a sugar) and is useful in cases of hypoglycaemia/shock carb soda- dampened- good for stings/bites . Styptic pencil -YES we always have a couple in the house for nicks/small cuts . humans and animals/birds . :)
  14. skin stapler betadine purple spray (cetrigen) bandages scissors saline solution gastrolyte glucodin tabs carb soda .
  15. :) best of luck :) I would like to see references. I would be very pleased if you asked to see proof of vacc/tire testing To see you confident in the face of barking and bouncing dogs To realise that you DO know local areas which may suit . To be impressed that you take notes ..have a file on each of my dogs , with photos , and any relevant vet /behaviour info . incl their local vet contact .. It would really help me if you looked professional - with all the gear needed ..bags/spare collars/muzzles/leashes- just in case.. That's all I can think of now .. ;)
  16. LOL @ banshee basenjis! They do yodel :) They remind me of cats , too .. climbing etc .
  17. Sounds as if a rescue dog who has been fostered might be the go ..... look HERE HERE HERE , or HERE
