  1. We were so lucky to have him . To just turn up here- late at night ,100 km from the nearest civilisation !! WE asked houseboat operators/neighbours/vets - no one had any clues - and from that first hour , he was totally accepting and relaxed . He had been desexed, was always perfect indoors , and was clean & shiny - he had come from somewhere kind ...... such an amazing, tolerant and laid back presence will be missed ......
  2. He's buried next to Mr W ..and several others ....I have not been without a house cat companion since around 1980 !! - already it feels so empty. Guess one will find me when they're ready :)
  3. :) lucky girls you have . I do suggest though, that you get some support from a professional - and there are some good folks in melbourne & surrounds who are also D O L members . perhaps contact them - they will perhaps help Alison with her anxieties /worries :) CLICK HERE CLICK HERE CLICK HERE
  4. thank you folks..... he was such a solid and trouble free boy - It seemed he would be around forever .....
  5. puppies are 9 weeks old - and she is in season? That seems odd to me - but , being speyed will certainly put a stop to those hormones.
  6. Today is Dougal's last day - Dougie, about 10 yrs ago, and as an adult , you literally turned up on our doorstep - and slotted in perfectly . You helped raise lots of puppies , (and a piglet ) were a good doorstop , and were the most stoic and bomb-proof cat I have ever known .Even when you lost a section of skin from doing something you shouldn't have - I was able to trim the loose skin around the wound with scissors , and dress it ,while you were scoffing food. . This past week has been so sad, watching you slowly stop enjoying food , and watching your belly fill with fluid , even tho you're not drinking much at all ... rest well , old boy.
  7. You may get some help also from this little book :) CLICK HERE
  8. as long as he IS with you for as many hours of the day that you can fit it in - keeping him in a pen is a good way to know he is safe , your garden is safe , and you retain sanity , IMO. Rotate his toys , so he has 'new' things often - maybe buy him a treat dispenser ..or large ball from Aussiedog toys ..and consider a clam shell 'sand pit' ;) that way, you can bury things in it - he can dig and play in the sand :). remember to train him to be calm and settled indoors with you , and keep up the walks etc.
  9. some reading while you wait :) CLICK HERE CLICK HERE CLICK HERE

  15. Terrific news :) Well Done . The breeder will be happy , no doubt - and now you know more about him . Lovely.
  16. This afternoon's antics , with Possum- and Old Gertie barking at everything and nothing - she is so deaf, and doesn't see too well ,so she doesn't realise no one else is joining in
  17. PARVO virus is what has the possibility to kill small puppies very quickly - even with veterinary intervention. As it is a virus, it is tough, and can be on footpaths/in soil, or in carpet etc for up to a YEAR or more after a sick dog has spread it from diarrhoea/vomit, or even muck on their feet :( Puppies only need a small amount of the virus to cause the illness - sniffing /licking /cleaning themselves after a walk can all transfer the virus into their systems . When you take Tusker to your vet for her "here is our new puppy" check - ask them for some more info on worming, etc.
