  1. I really think they need to ask a different trainer for some help
  2. ..with cats - the new ones always have to be immediate - Years ago, in melbourne , My dear Rufus was magicked to be on the same day I lost "Scratch" ( to a half brick thrown by a neighbour) I was distraught , and went straight out to the Cat Protection Society ..lots of pens, lots of cats .. one or two gingers .. none of them triggered any feeling By this time I was crying again ...and asked the lady was she sure there wasn't one I'd missed ? Somewhere? Another lady explained there was one adult who had just come in - castrated yesterday ..has been living under a car ... anyhow - Rufus the Red came straight home with me ..straight into the shower as he smelt and looked disgusting ..and was my special boy thru several house moves ...with other cats , and alone ...for years & years . My Tabby girl was left with me to have a home found .... well, she was def. a foster failure :p ..... I have a few stories like that ...there was Jerome - given us by a couple who believed very much in the benefits of 'weed' ..and , judging by Jerome's attitude.. smoked it often ;) there was Monty - 'rescued' amongst tears from a fodder store who had a couple of scrawny pups in a cage - plus a mushroom and white fluffy kitten trying to eat dog food from a bowl ... I just can not be away from cats for too long , & am so looking forward to a new little girl :)
  3. doing stuff outside - the picker-upperer has different uses :) But, but .... what else are we going to do ?? Thanks for the chew toy ;)
  4. thank you - I so hate the catless feeling Every other time there has been a catshaped hole torn in my heart , I have immediately filled it - this time , it may be different - or then again..... there is this moppet available not all that far away ... (have posted in cat chat ) ..but will put this here - sure Dougie won't mind :)
  5. To help Allison - I strongly suggest you look into using this product in whatever form is suitable . it is NOT a "drug" .. it is released into the air from a diffuser, or a spray, or on a collar ...and you can read about it below - Quite a lot of D O L folks have used it :) CLICK HERE to go to the website :)
  6. Glad she's speyed ,and home ..now for some R&R while she heals :)
  7. yes - that was my first thought....
  8. We were so lucky to have him . To just turn up here- late at night ,100 km from the nearest civilisation !! WE asked houseboat operators/neighbours/vets - no one had any clues - and from that first hour , he was totally accepting and relaxed . He had been desexed, was always perfect indoors , and was clean & shiny - he had come from somewhere kind ...... such an amazing, tolerant and laid back presence will be missed ......
  9. He's buried next to Mr W ..and several others ....I have not been without a house cat companion since around 1980 !! - already it feels so empty. Guess one will find me when they're ready :)
  10. :) lucky girls you have . I do suggest though, that you get some support from a professional - and there are some good folks in melbourne & surrounds who are also D O L members . perhaps contact them - they will perhaps help Alison with her anxieties /worries :) CLICK HERE CLICK HERE CLICK HERE
  11. thank you folks..... he was such a solid and trouble free boy - It seemed he would be around forever .....
  12. puppies are 9 weeks old - and she is in season? That seems odd to me - but , being speyed will certainly put a stop to those hormones.
  13. Today is Dougal's last day - Dougie, about 10 yrs ago, and as an adult , you literally turned up on our doorstep - and slotted in perfectly . You helped raise lots of puppies , (and a piglet ) were a good doorstop , and were the most stoic and bomb-proof cat I have ever known .Even when you lost a section of skin from doing something you shouldn't have - I was able to trim the loose skin around the wound with scissors , and dress it ,while you were scoffing food. . This past week has been so sad, watching you slowly stop enjoying food , and watching your belly fill with fluid , even tho you're not drinking much at all ... rest well , old boy.
  14. You may get some help also from this little book :) CLICK HERE
  15. as long as he IS with you for as many hours of the day that you can fit it in - keeping him in a pen is a good way to know he is safe , your garden is safe , and you retain sanity , IMO. Rotate his toys , so he has 'new' things often - maybe buy him a treat dispenser ..or large ball from Aussiedog toys ..and consider a clam shell 'sand pit' ;) that way, you can bury things in it - he can dig and play in the sand :). remember to train him to be calm and settled indoors with you , and keep up the walks etc.
  16. some reading while you wait :) CLICK HERE CLICK HERE CLICK HERE
