  1. same dad - our Freddie . Hamlet's mum was a cocker spaniel !
  2. this is our old Leo. semi retired , in double figures, and as a yard worker and goat musterer, is showing the effects now . He is a lovely boy ...spent most of yesterday perched on the toolbox in the 4WD ...disappointed that we didn't go anywhere exciting! My brother has had a few offfers to buy him over the years - Someone was willing to part with $5,000 !
  3. Glad it seems to be nothing serious . give the vaccine a week or so to work properly - just remember before then to get puppy used to collar and leash - to NOT pulling on leash when you walk him around the yard , and practice "sit" , etc :) . as for meeting "nice dogs" ... please do NOT take him to a dog park as a puppy - there are way too many things which can go wrong You will get helpful information from the following :) http://www.dolforums...-socialisation/ also , this is interesting :) http://www.dogstarda...axonomy/term/34 Oh, and to help him like the kennel - pile in some opshop blankets ..or a couple of 'fleecy' blankets from a" $2 shop ".Wash these first, then have them on your couch or bed for a couple of days , so they get your scent on them - this way , pup will find them something of comfort :) Dogs like sleeping in a "nest" of bedding ..
  4. Glad it all worked out! :)
  5. Like to see that pic re enacted in a year's time! :) Lovely .
  6. yes This is one puppy who is being thought about and cared for :)
  7. he will need LOTS to do and things of his own :) as suggested a clam shell sand pit cardboard cartons to jump on/chew up . balls of various sizes ..but none smaller than a tennis ball! (choking risk) tough toys that squeak. tough "soft toys' which he can shake and carry and throw ... get a soft drink bottle ..and place his dry food in there .. sprinkle some out first - so he knows - then leave him to it! It might take him an hour or two to get the food , which is perfect! he is occupied , and busy ,and getting food :) kennels are not automatically used //dogs like to choose their own safe and comfortable spot to sleep :) I have seen dogs take days and days to finally sleep in a new kennel - it is not what they are used to - the dark , or enclosed space may be a bit much for them ... you and pup have a lot to learn about each other ;) look around for things like this little Youtube video :)
  8. Oh, Raineth .. gently is a wonderful way to live, and to leave life. I am full of admiration for you & the way you let Digby enjoy his life , and how you allowed him to slowly come to its end . Take care of yourself - x Digby - hope you & your ice-cream covered floppychops are happy over the bridge -
  9. Another one to whom the post wasn't clear - apologies. It is a lovely thought - hope you find a way to have a corgi 'fix' :)
  10. Looks a bit like a canned food poo on my screen ....
  11. apparently the breeder will provide training and support - Still don't like the idea ...
  12. Hi :) How confusing and worrying for you ..trying your best, but not knowing much about how dogs "work" . I am glad you came here to ask . make sure the vet EXPLAINS /writes down what medicines , and what they are for :) Don't be sucked into buying an expensive dog food the vet sells definitely show vet those poo photos . Do NOT let pup touch the ground/floor at the vets - or let other dogs "kiss him" This will help avoid picking up an infection ...and maybe stop anything spreading from him ... keep puppy well away from other dogs - and friends who have dogs at home . IF he has anything nasty - you don't want to spread it around Keep us posted :) I agree STOP googling - if you know very little , it can be so scary !!! ;)
  13. One very sad comment ... the photos are too small!!! ;)
  14. AFAIK , roo tail is spine ..the bone construction isdifferent to leg bones . They are not that dense shiny bone like legs .I do not consider them 'weight bearing bones' . yes, they do act as shock absorbers- they have a thick tissue/fat layer on the undersides..and a large amount of tendons . they are great for dogs - with meat on ..as they provide work for every tooth type :)

  16. I've just had a look at others he's following, there's alot of DOLers on his list. It's sus to me. have you googled the name?
  17. admittedly a working dog pup at a function where most attendees will already have such dogs ... BUT .. I have commented on FB and written to the organisers. Anyone else want to do similar ? Organisers FB page 'advertising'
  18. I would surmise it is a business .. and maybe by 'following' gets folks interested, maybe?
  19. Guess it helps with the job , and may mean the difference between life & death - as in pain doesn't distract from clear thinking ....
  20. Just watched all that - Take my hat off to Trent - what composure! Good for him .
  21. this morning I was so pleased - he had somehow acquired a rabbit ..and was busy eating ..but he did eventually come & l 'swap' it for something else - he got it back - but that's an important lesson - and he passed that exam ! :)
  22. He surprises me so often .. :) absolutely the opposite of his sister ( who has now been relegated to "outside" the yard - where the workers live . )
  23. if he loves the ball - what about tricks ? Find the ball under things ... scent trails ..... teach him how to push ball with his nose ..maybe thru an obstacle course? That sort of thing :)
