not the best comparison , but I see what you are trying to say .They are your larder .Fairynuff . I still believe they could have more enrichment :) and , no , I don't eat my chooks . have a friend who breeds chooks & ducks to eat though...- she has enclosed a huge part of her yard in which is her little'orchard' about 7 different fruiting trees, plus vines and chookies/ducks . It all seems to work well , and she always has fresh poultry . her hatchlings are always much loved and even named! Just cannot do it myself .

I agree wholeheartedly . if it as posted ..a dog not eating, not pooing except blood- losing sight , and unsteady /shaky ..it is very needing of proper treatment /support.

I suggest she gets herself and the poor dog to a large vet hospital/teaching facility ASAP . I also think he should be IN hospital on supportive therapy while being tested .. Hopefully he will find help soon...

I knew as well , and did all the recommended things with feeding/exercise , etc ...my Dane X boy died from torsion One thing with large dogs (two really) which you would have been told -keep 'em lean , grow em slow - and limit impact exercise for the growing period . Actually - leaving mother/siblings at 8 weeks or later is NOT because of being upset etc - it is because between 6 weeks - 8 weeks is one of the MOST important learning times .It is when mum & siblings work on doggy communication , bite inhibition and doggy rules . if this is NOT learned properly ..a puppy/dog may literally not be able to communicate effectively when out & about , and can involve aggression/;fearfulness around other dogs .

perhaps ask the vet exactly how much protein should be fed ..? Then seek out sources which can supply this ....

maltese? those cute white fluffy things? yes- they can be very deadly ... I knew a pair who could hunt very well.

good update :) provided chooks have plenty to scratch in/search for ..they are relatively happy, I've found. Piles of autumn leaves , and ,depending how easy it is to find over there .. biscuits of lucerne/alfalfa hay ... the latter are ideal! edit : I had forgotten just how inadequate that coop was - and hope chooks get something a bit larger soon ....

DD- love how dog is giving 'that' stare ..as in ...one move toward my dinner - and you're in trouble - even tho it's your cousin!

She may sniff & think about it a bit ... but usually they do :)
