  1. The rare times I go away- I am there for myself... ..not my dogs.
  2. A friend is looking for somewhere for her older belgian shepherd ..
  3. Perhaps ring the vet,or your bitch's breeder?
  4. I have found some posts which may be of help... not all of them ,but there are some good discussions LINK 1 LINK 2 and have a read HERE and HERE edit. Poodlefan found much better ones also- make sure puppy has plenty of soccerballs/bones /cardboard cartons etc that he CAN chew/wreck!!
  5. I pay It's only $25 a year .
  6. Star pickets .. if not high enough, can cause horrific injuries if bouncing/climbing dogs get hooked on the top of them You can help though, by putting some hose over the ends..or empty drink cans ...If a dog comes down hard on teh top of one of those steel star pickets ..... Ouch!
  7. After the vet has confirmed demodex with a skin scraping- they should advise/provide you with medication. Perhaps try another vet?
  8. You can not keep a puppy in a crate and just let it out for toilet breaks She is a puppy - and needs to walk/play/dig/run .Why not leave her outside by herself when you are working? In her playpen, perhaps? If you start doing it right now.. it will be easier for you all! Make sure she is hungry... leave her meal outside with her..and some interesting toys..don't fuss over her.. or tell her Mummy will be listening, etc etc... just walk inside again. If/when she whinges etc.. IGNORE totally . Only go out to her when all is quiet...even if she barks for an hour!! Being absolutely committed will mean only a day or two of hassle... giving in by talking to her /letting her inside will mean confusion and a lot of hassle :D
  9. It wouldn't be a good thing to try & buy- would start to ferment /go off VERY quickly
  10. I rarely read 'in the news' - cos it's all bad ,and folks getting angry....
  11. yep- the beagle puppies are so cute it should be illegal then they grow up! From the little I know- they do much better in a 'pack' and do not have that dependence on humans which many dogs do...... their nose rules! I think perhaps something else for a first-timer?
  12. She is tiny..and she needs you to take her out around every 1/2 hour!Say "do wee" or something every time she starts to go ..praise her for weeing etc outside Crate training does NOT mean locking a puppy in a crate for hours and hours .... do a search on here for 'crate training ' You may also enjoy reading from this site CLICK HERE Have fun with your new little puppy
  13. Africa- perhaps you could have an OS holiday, and spend time with some of these dogs 'in person' ? Wanting to be the only person with 'something different' ..and having never owned one of these types of dog before ..Hmmm... taken from HERE On the purely practical.... trying to keep a 90kg cool in Australia could be a bit tricky!! Those coats are meant for snow and blizzards Click ->AMAZING DOGS!! but definitely not something I would want !
  14. Stunning! I love watching hoverflies
  15. Agreed! maybe a teensy bit more weight... but just a teensy bit . She looks terrific ..and is very pretty! Thanks for the extra photos.
  16. oh :D for you... for having to wait out those final days ... run free Kassy.
  17. Hard to tell without a few more shots .. but on first glance it does not look as if she is desperate need of extra feeding Just go slowly and adjust if needed. Did you read thru th e link I posted earlier on raw feeding?
  18. and be STRONG. Dogs are resilient and sensible ..and will not pursue a lost cause (usually)
  19. We have outside dogs... they are brought up from day one outside..and so there is usually no problem after the first noisy night or two in a new pen. Hamlet started off an outside puppy .. he slept in a little shed for the first weeks .... he had a very cosy bed (it was Winter) a source of heat (hot bricks) ..and lots of soft bedding .... no problems.
  20. Anticipating more photos of this beautiful girl ... lean or not !
  21. blue amstaff- you would certainly be disgusted if you saw some of our working koolies They look a bit leaner than your new dog ... but are healthy, and active and shiny
