  1. I would not think leaving a pup that age ...new to everything, crated for upwards of 8 hours a day will help anything a pen, maybe. What size is this dog?
  2. oh Poor pup won't know if he's arfa or marfa I will also recommend some D A P spray or diffuser help... just to let him feel that everything's ok. He has been exposed to lots of physical and psychological changes over the past few weeks ;) He will pick up on your body language/stress levels too, now ... take a step to teh side and breathe
  3. Enemas are effective- however they should not be attempted without first being taught how.Lots to go wrong . I have always found HEAPS of fluid by mouth, and a dose of paraffin oil will sort things out overnight.
  4. Hi- Where did he come from? What was his daily routine? Being some months old-- any routine he had will be well entrenched, and yes, it will be hard getting him settled.
  5. You will find helpful stuff if you click here What a shame she doesn't have much play time with other dogs ... they need it when young, so they learn lots of behaviour rules ;)
  6. if he's not well, perhaps he should not be exposed to the stress of flying?
  7. What was her body language when she was 'stalking' grabbing? What was your son doing? How does she normally play around other dogs? You will find lots of useful information HERE Often when pups/dogs play they do 'set'/ stalk .. it's exactly like kids sneaking up on someone .... until they get close enough to grab! However, this is not acceptable behaviour if pup does not follow the NO TEETH on human rule My suggestion would be to get a GOOD trainer in to observe and help.....Your kids need to know how THEY are to behave around the pup as well... it is not only the pup who needs rules .
  8. I just G88gled this Gives you an idea- I guess more would be in the companion animal act ? Seems as if being declared would need more than one fight , anyway.
  9. Shiba.... Hmmm.. I do like the look of them Well Done on your spotting!
  10. Yayyy.. he may well be on meds to get rid of fluid- so may pee a lot more anyway Lots of little yard trips SO glad he is home again!!
  11. he may want a pee- or he more likely, can hear a cat/possum on its regular patrol he does his "chase off the intruder" duty...and roars back indoors . ???? Don't know , but am going for the simple answer first :D
  12. Our working dogs are all outside. House dogs are inside mostly. No real 'walks' here- ... I have had dogs in the city..and done the 2X daily walks rain hail or shine ..up at 5 am to walk etc before work.... never again.I enjoyed it then ..but .... Now,I much prefer to have the dogs happy to interact as a 'pack'...with me as overseer I like that the dogs aren't fussed when I go anywhere...that their routine is solid without me! I will never again have a dog to whom I am centre of the universe (unless I have need of an assistance dog one day) I love having dogs around...and enjoy their company, but do not love being their world
  13. I never leave food out And when they do get fed...there certainly is nothing much left for flies/mice/birds !!
  14. Hmmm... as they are ithout a mum- and are 3 weeks..I would be popping in a section or two of lambshank or large beef bone, with a little meat on it ! They may need more sucking action than they are getting...this way they will suck on chunks/slivers of meat attached to the bone...also they will mouth/suck the bone! Very much welcomed activity for developing jaws/skulls,and for little brains
  15. leaving him outside without a shade sail/tree/verandah is a really bad plan A kennel will not be enough! It would be a bit like you sitting in your car ( with a door open) on a 40 degree day!! Cover the pen with shadecloth..or buy a large shade sail kit . Those dog doors look good
  16. Good news ! ermm ..... I wouldn't give him a rawhide bone if he is unsupervised just let him sleep safely for now , and heal properly
  17. Hi- Not really :D he is male- he is marking his territory. Is it possible a cat may be also peeing in/on the pots...this will make your dog try even harder! Do you have posts/poles in the yard that he can use? perhaps do some re training with him... take him out - on or off lead.. to where you would prefer him to pee... use a command.... and if/when he does, the praise him and give him treats etc...repeat repeat repeat...
  18. Yes- please float a board in troughs for birds to clamber up onto - young birds especially tend to drown :D
  19. Gosh - I hope there places from which people can learn the correct techniques . This method has all sorts of possible consequences .
  20. Yep- pups may have all sorts of things not working/working poorly ....and can die when it all gets too hard - or when a body outgrows the inefficient faulty organ .... an autopsy is the only way to find out.
