  1. You certainly can. There is, however, nothing else like a dog park you can expose your dogs to that will enable you to walk into a dog park some time later and be sure your dog will be comfortable with it. If you intend to use dog parks, start early if you have the opportunity IMO. I like dog parks (not necessarily enclosed dog exercise areas, not that I have had any negative experiences with them) because you can properly socialise your dog simply by going every day. It's easy and very effective as long as you are aware of what your dog is doing and any other dog around you. I took my 12 week old puppy out to as many parks and places as I could in order he meet as many dogs, humans, cars, trucks, noises etc as possible. (12 weeks because he had a 2 vax regime which finished at 10 weeks before anyone jumps on that bandwagon). I go to the local dog park (not fenced) every day for training. I take my dogs many places, and they are confident, happy and well socialised dogs which is what is important to me. So to the OP, take your puppy, be aware and forever vigilent, and enjoy socialising your pup!
  2. Very sad to hear It didn't sound good when you first posted. Hugs to you
  3. Are there more categories or is that it?
  4. Yes agree, warning bells went off here. The reason to go with a registered breeder is because you know what you are getting, and not an unknown quantity (as in a pound dog) which would be especially important in a breed that can have temperament issues. Good luck perth_girl, I hope you find the right breeder sooner rather than later. It is worth the wait. I have made great new friends not only with my puppy's breeders but also with my puppy's sire's breeders, an unexpected bonus!
  5. Can you dampen the feet and tummy with a wet cloth? Do you also have a fan? It might help to keep the temp from rising further or at least give some relief. I haven't had a dog with pneumonia but I have had a cat with it. She almost died, was very flat when I took her back to the vet. They injected fluids and she came good pretty quickly. Even though I had been syringing fluids into her, it wasn't enough. Prayers and hugs for Quest and your night ahead
  6. I was charged slightly more than that for a large Golden Retriever so that price sounds reasonable. Good Vet care is expensive but obviously worth it.
  7. Happy birthday Chloe! I hope you got something really tasty for your tea! :D I'm sitting on the sofa this evening when Paddle Pop comes inside and drops a present on my lap. A dead baby mouse! Seems he has some terrier in him
  8. Sorry for your loss RL. Is there someone who is at home during the day that you could leave your dog with for some company?
  9. I've often said those scented candles smell almost good enough to eat! I wonder if there is paraffin in the candle? Might cause a little 'dire rear'
  10. If you google Dr Jean Dodds, you will find a wealth of info on this subject, she is the leading world expert in this field.
  11. WOW! It cost me $750 for a little dog from Chch NZ to Perth! One way mind you.
  12. Would never bother with one. Dogs currently live in an locked house and secure yard. They are microchipped ... and they have a great owner who looks out for them so they don't need fancy expensive stuff like that!
  13. Yes you did Candice and that's all there is to it!
  14. A day is more then long enough for Mason to be bullied. You did the right thing Mas and I am sure the breeder will find another home that's a better fit. Well I have to agree to disagree from my oewn experience it took longer but everyone has there own threshold ( I am known as a tough old cow!!) and proud of that but then again with my breed one must be ! lol I'm just like you Wazzat but I do understand that not everyone is the same. It comes down to a lot of things, personality of people and dogs as well as tolerance levels. We all live and learn!
  15. I use Aloveen for the one or two times a year my dogs get washed. Regular brushing and a good diet means they don't get that doggy smell much. Enjoy your pup, hope to see some photos when pup arrives!
  16. Sorry it didn't work out Mason. Poor Chance must be stressed to the max and exhausted too.
  17. Sounds like you have quite a project ahead of you Mason........Just remember to be consistent and firm, and give them time out from each other and time by themselves with you guys....I reckon the first week or two will be the hardest... I agree, firm and consistent. If it lasts anyway.
  18. The Aussie Dog toys are great. I have most of what is left of a Turbo Chook, had it for a number of years and have had three different dogs play with it, the latest being the pup who has a lot of drive and not so much food motivation. They might be expensive but they are good quality and last
  19. He looks a bit special!! You will have to change your sig now "Sid has landed"
  20. Beautiful photos but that kitten is particularly gorgeous!!
  21. What lovely photos, Frida is such a lovely dog! I can see whay it would have been so hard to rehome her Nice to know she is happy though Greys are on my list for when I retire
  22. Honey will sooth his throat, so yes, a teaspoon every few hours is good. Ordinary honey is fine, if you can get some Active Manuka Honey from a health food shop, that's even better as it promotes a healthy immunity. Never heard about the chicken soup for a dog although I am sure he would enjoy it! What a dreadful experience your dog has had at the vets I would go armed with his favourite toy or the best treats next time and any other time you have to go back. He needs to learn it's OK to visit the vet.
  23. This is what I would also suggest. Hopefully your dog will be OK
