I have my Standard poodle girl on it. Have for nearly 12 moths. Also did behaviour mod wiht her and she is a diferent dog. We've got a goldie at the shop on it too for anxiety casue she's going blind and works great for her. It just depends on why its needed and if something can be done in conjuction to the meds. But no one knows my girl is on meds unless i tell them. It doesnt zonk her out at all and people dont believe me when i first tell them cause she's so happy. But it just helps her brain settle so she doesnt panic and can think straight. I found it great but will be weaning her off it soon hopefully.

If he is matted already an extra 10 days arent going to make a differnce. You willl find its better to wait till after he has heald and them that way he will succumb to grooming easier and it will be that little bit more pleasant for him not being sore as hell. I personally dont touch dogs even if they have disolvables that after a week are gone and the recomendation is 10 days. They need time for the swelling to go down. And as Cockerlover said most groomers wont clip an unwashed dog cause it damamges clippers plus they arent going to be able to turn him out looking anyhting decent with a wash and fluff too.

The mars website range is good but if you want to ahnd strip as in show strip your Shnauzer back you are going to need a different kind of stripper for the back. I use the mars strippers and dont have one of the standard ones that would show strip the back short enought. It just depends on what you want as far as look. If you dont mind the back being a little longer and scruffier them buy a #16 or #20 for the back. Good luck!

Because this is not appropriate for the show ring - it is the chemical alteration of a dog being exhibited, which is not allowed by the canine associations. The dog could only be shown once the implant had worn off. I didnt realise sorry. my bad! :p

As long as he will still be able to breed after you reverse the chemical castration what does it matter if his testicles shrink hwile on it. Talk to some breeders who have done chemical castration and see what they think. It would be easier to control his behaviour thAN MONITOR AND ALTER MULTIPLE FEMALES.

Is there any reason you dont want to chemically castrate him?

If its for a ridge that i assume it is from your signature id suggest a pair of disposable gloves like the ones vets use wet them while hearing let them dry a bit them rub your hands with the grain of the fur... youd be amased the amount of hair that gets out. Its not like plucking it just sticks to the gloves and comes out!

my goldie was 18 months before castration and he never cocked his leg! now nearly 2 still doesnt. He marks over his sisters wee always has and castration didnt stop that but never cocks his leg.

And to re iterate I never said anything negative about DogFX in post. Mearly questioned your wording in your post. As it was written it felt very attacking towards me on your part as i had mearly told the op what we are about at my salon. Im sorry if you have taken anything I said in my post to be acusitory or derogitory towards dogFX that was not my intension in the slightest. But take it as you like.

Casowner with all due respect its not just about the clipping but the whole experience for a dog getting groomed. I knew a woman once whos grooming was unlike any other in skill. She was sensational but the holding cages they were kept in were terrible, she cage dried which scared the crap out of most of the dogs and she spent no time actually talking to them or playing with them or trying to make grooming a good experience. Im not saying that is what Dog FX are about but im just saying that although vital to a salon the clip is not the only thing to consider when choosing a salon. Personal one on one time and where they are held before and after grooming, all the people that will be working there the day you take your pup. Its like childcare to alot of people and they shouldn't have to leave their dogs at a salon they havent seen the workings of and see the staff just like you wouldnt leave you child at a daycare centre where they dont let you past the desk and you leave your child there without knowing anything. Its Just food for thought. And Casowner just as a side note how do you justify saying "The proof is in the clip, they dont spend time trying to convince people they are good- they just are" When they have and i think still do run TV adds trying to drum up business and do exactly what you said try and convince people they are good. If the proof is in they pudding as you say they would have had no need to do a tv add. just IMO Im not saying that Dog FX arent good groomers, Ive seen their work its good but your arguement for them is flawed thats all. Even if your observation about their grooming is correct.

Just thought Id say hi... I groom another TT called Bailey.. he has basics done. Hes not in a show coat but is kept long. They opt to have his eyes trimmed too though. But we can accomodate show coats here happily Ive have quite a few poeple get their dogs trimmed with us that were showies but ran behind time or couldnt be bothered so we are use to doing almost anything. Dogs dont need to stay all day and i dont cage them unless they are agressive towards other dogs. Its like a big play group. The dogs seem to enjoy the grooming more when its fun with playtime. You can stop in and ill give you a tour of the shop and you can meet the other girls there too. Im not shy about showinf people the business end of grooming! Good luck looking for a salon!

I find sardines in oil good for coat but not weight gain. My standard poodle could not get weight on and was loosing it easily if not eating all of the time. I have her eating nearly half a kilo of chicken neck for breakky and 3 cups of RC kibble for dinner plus snacks and she is steadily gaining weight. plus she loves her food especially her chicken necks!

My Standard poodle Isabella had an "innie" Inverted vulva. I was told to let her go through a season to help it pop out further but had an entire male Golden here so that wasnt an option. She was desexed at just over 6 months and I had the vet sergically fix her vulva. When he came out of sergery it looked like she had been butchered. But anout a month or 2 later the hari grew back around the wound site and now you woudlnt even know but for a tiny white scare in a smile face shape around the outside of the skin near her vulva. Its not pretty especially when you pic them up with stitches but once the stitches are out it all looks better. I personally recomend the sergery and think it works well. Isabella was so bad that everytime she urinated i had to pat her dry with a tissue and i woukld apply a cream that acted as a barrier but she still got rashy. I noticed probem before her spey and the vet noticed the problem on a consultation before spey and we opted to do both at the same time. Pity your vet didnt notice her vulva looking funny back then Hope thats helped.

you could also pm Abby cause she makes them and might send interstate, not sure though but im dure she would be a damn sight cheeper.

ill definately give aggility a go next week had a dinner to go to last night. Dont know if he'll be able to do it though cause he is a strong set dog might be a bit clow. Definately going into ccd cdx etc. Going to go competition and PH of course ill train him for you... you just might not get him back lol

YAY!!!! Rico passed grade 5 last night and now he has his basicobedience certificate. We have only been at training since feb and he has never been held back... He is such a good boy. Have decided ill take him as far as i can go with it! Triallying here we come.. Im just so proud i could burst!

I know a lot opf people who use optimum and their dogs look great and diont poo much more than anyone elses but my two had the puppy stuff when i ran out and they got the runs BAD! fgrom it... i still say as far as supermarket foods its one of the best!
