  1. Never heard of them and they are not listed in yellow or white pages... Where are they?
  2. I give my 2 c5 and heartworm vac but at diferent times not at the same and they are fine. Id say that Amerykus if they have had it before and been ok I wouldnt worry to much. maybe just space the vaccs a couple of weeks apart?
  3. Same thing happened to a client of mine at the salon. He's been ahving the c5 and prohart and never had a problem but his eyes swelled up and his breathing went erratic! Wonder ifit was the bad batch. The vet tried to tell my client that it was an allergic reation to c5 but hes always had it. Just never had it at the same time as the prohart. usually a few weeks apart. Hrmmm???
  4. Agree about the price. We are cheep for Adelaide at $70 for a big un. If your dog doesnt like having its legs done then my adive is to have him done professionally and have it clipped off. If you have a groomer pulling the knots out and leaving him long not only wil it make it unpleasant for him and more ilkely to play up when you brush him but it wil make the groomers life hell too. Little dogs who pull their legs back are hard enough but 35kg of dog doing it for some groomers would be near impossible to control. A good groomer will be able to get him past this leg theng in the salon but you need to do it at home too. With dogs here if they start pulling their legs back because they dont want them done i just gentle hold the leg and not let them have it back until they stop pulling back on the leg. Then they ge it back and are told how good they are. It works amazingly! Good Luck!
  5. Sasha could benifit from having a poodle nose becuase she is more poodle but if a poodle clip is attempted on Cindy it might look a little strange becuase she has straight fur where sasha has curly fur. Your could jusut use a pair of scissors to do it for noe depending on how confident you are with scissors but otherwise #10 face and feet (less suvere than a #15 most poodles get) and maybe a #5 body and legs. Will keep them cool and reduce the number or burrs slightly. I personally would say a comb and a slicker brush 2-3 times a week or when there are burrs. 1 burr casn cause a matt very quickly. Good luck!
  6. Clippiong a cross breed is different to the convversation about the goldie becuae although your is more golden than poodle you dont get any complications from clipping. Most of the golden x poodles that I groom get clipped off throught summer every 8 to 12 and let to grow in the middle of winter. Definately try and get into the coat atleast twice a week for a good brush that should keep matting toa minimum and just make sure that the washer can show you a picture of the style they do. Unfortunately some people in the biz are still shave happy. Provided that you dog only has a couple of little knotts and its undercoat isnt totally matted you should be able to have only half off him. Around 1/2 or 3/4 inch id say. Anyway good luck.!
  7. What do groomers use to colour coats with. I want to do something to my goldie but the hardest question is.... How to dye a RED standard poodle? She is dark red and I would love to hear suggestions. Also deopending on what is used for colour how long do you think it will last? And how long should it be left to set on the coat before its washed off? I was thinking food colour.
  8. Firstly I would never clip my boy but he doesnt have a coat that is too think hes in air con all day and he's leaned off. But I have a goldie that gets clipped with a #3 in winter and a #5 in summer nad her coat has never got thicker I have a boy that gets a #7 every summer same thing and I also have a goldie that was clipped elsewhere that now has the worst coat but after 3 years of stripping him out every 6 weeks its comming good again. I think this is kinda like the idea that some breeders tell their pups new owners with cockers and springers. Telling them not to have the top coat clipped cause it will go curly. What absolute rubbish. They are either curly or they are not. An ex-show dog that had never been clipped was curly as hell when his new owner inhereted him she now clips him in a #10 cocker clip and he hasnt got any curlier and another that had the same show life but had a totally straight coat is beiong clipped with a #10 now and still insnt curly. I have never come across a dog that gets curly after being clipped unless they were already curly or very wavey. I think the same applies to breeds like goldies too. And borders, collies, shelties, poms. Their coats will have the potential to go thick and yuck and usually indicated by an extremely coarse undercoat. But thats what ive found. My advice... have the dog stripped out well and hand scissored trimmed. If you find that the goldie is still really suffering and no amount of stripping is going to help then look at clipping. Just go slowly at it. Good luck
  9. Our short blade last year was a #5 this year its #7f and #10's left right a centre. Its the dogs that are matted that people want left long. I do some cockers and shnauzer breed clips with #15. Looks sleak and smooth. Did a #15 on a dog that usually has a #10 in summer. Black and white. They say hes not as hot and they can sese ticks on him when they go bush and has the best skin no allergies. Its really up to the owner. Ill do almost anything as long as I dont have to hurt them to do it.
  10. Wow based on this I think I am under charging. We charge $45 for swf's but thas going up to $50 in the new year. $55/$60 for melike bc's and $70?$75 for goldens. Std poodles etc. All my prices are going up in the new year ut only but about $5. All my services are hydrobath wash (special shampoo no extra charge) hand dry, brush full clip or strip and shape, nails cut, ears cleaned and plucked. all included. Maybe things are a bit different in Sydney to Adelaide though. On the topic at hand I have never heard of a groomer charging by time.. If that were the case Ive worked with someone that would make a fortune casue it would take her 2 and a bit hours to do a little dog!!! Charge by what it costs you and what you think your skill is worth. Persoanlly I dont think charging more cause of extra frieght or any other reason just because your in the country isnt very fair. Itsmore taking advange of people who dont have another option but that just my opinion. Im sure Im wrong ut it just sounds a little weird.
  11. Im in the other... Its Royal Canin all the way for me!!!! love the stuff!
  12. a pretty back ground would be great! Rico looks good in red and Isabella purple if that helps lol
  13. looks awsome freckles! thanks heaps Now how do I add it to my signature????
  14. I like the first one but is it possible to have a body shot and head shot of each of the dogs and in the pic together, The goldies name is Rico and the poodles name is Isabella. Thanks
  15. I dont know quite what i want but the use of a couple of pics of them each with their names on it maybe? Extra one just cause See what you can do and THANKYOU!
  16. Medium adult or energy depending on their metabolisms... I have my poodle bitch on med puppy and Ill switch her to med energy when she is old enough becasue she doesnt hold her weight very well.
  17. So which one of you can I drag in to make me a sig then? ;) PWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE You can bug any of us just add the pics and im sure we'll all take a shot at it that would be great!@@!!!! Do I just add them in here?
  18. So which one of you can I drag in to make me a sig then? PWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE
  19. If you keep them on puppy food it can cause serious health problems. Pancreatitis and other diseases. TGhere are nutrients that are in the food in extremely high levels that a growning puppy can use and digest but an adult cant. You'd be better off getting your dog on a superpremium food (personally recomend Royal Canin) I had a very skinny standard poodle bitch that when I switched from the other puppy food to Royal Canin stacked on weight with just 2 means a day. If that doesnt work then bulk the food up with raw meat like chicken, beef or a little lamb. That will bulk up the food and help put some weight on or chicken I hear are good especially with some show people.
  20. I have a goldie that is now 12 months weights 31.9 and is very lean and will be on his puppy for till about 15months and a small standard poodle at 17kgs that will be off it at around 12 months. Dont knwo if that helps
  21. The other thing I was going to say is that if you go with a salon make sure you can pick up within a reasonable time... There is no need for your dog to be there at 9am and only picked up at 5 unless you want them to stay for the day... Always ask to see where and who will be grooming... If the salon owner/manager will not let you see and give you an excuse then dont leave your dog there. If they dont show you without an appointment there is a chance they are doing something they dont want you to see.
  22. If both your dogs are short coats then Id say a mobile is fine just keep an eye on them at first make sure they are doing it nicely.... If your dog has longer fur and will require real brushing go for a mobile who was at a salon or a salon. I only know one mocile person I would recomend but she is south... Hope Ive helped and not confused.. At my saoln in the east for small to medium dogs I change between $25 and $40 depending on coat.
  23. I always use and tell my girls at the salon to use the hydrobath table insert. The only way to save your back. I get lower back troubles from lifting the big ones, shoulder trouble RSI in both wrists and constant bruses!!! Its a taugh job but someones got to do it! lol. We try and ajust everything to the right height that helps too.
  24. I have the same experience with dogs that react like this. They are worse with their owners there. It cant hurt to try and see what happens... I dont think your hydrobather is going to lie and tell you she was an angel if she does it again. The other thing I try If hand washing with a hose in the hydrobath. We have a hose that is just a wall hose like in the shower that we use for the really scared ones and slowly they get use to it then we half and half using the hydrobath and then eventually get to the hydrobath fully. Can take up to 6 months for some pets getting regular washes. But thats my suggestion.
