  1. It actually had the potential to be a lot worse considering the bottle neck and storms that happen up there every year. On top of that, how do you give O2 to a dog suffering from AMS, or even worse, would the climbing team have sacrificed their own O2, Dex and other meds for a dog rather than sick humans. Even more incredulous, summit permits for humans are extremely expensive. How much of donors dollars went into a climbing permit for a dog. Just beggars belief really.
  2. Sorry but I think thats totally ridiculous. there are much more effective ways to promote the plight of street dogs in India than taking a dog up a death zone and potentially risking the lives of the hundreds of climbers that attempt that super highway, high altitude garbage dump every year.
  3. Rural pug didnt accuse you of anything, maeby. Just relax a bit; this is a really interesting thread and we're so lucky to have breeders share their knowledge with us.
  4. If maeby is upset about the statement ruralP made that was quoted, well that tends to be the mutual motto of ethical breeders. They say it in here all the time and I personally appreciate seeing them drum it in.
  5. I'm not sure where you're coming from but it sounds like a really crappy space. Wtf? Wondering that myself, max. I thougt ruralP's post was really interesting.
  6. Wow. Wilma the Supreme Pug.
  7. Lol. Pancake is 4.5 so light enough until she falls asleep. Then she feels like a goddamn baby elephant.
  8. I dont know about chis but my pug does it.
  9. He's an experienced wilderness guy according to the Canadian survival experts who were questioned. Who do you want to believe, survival experts or armchair experts leaving comments after an opinion piece? Read the Canadian editorials on it. I give up. As others in here have said, talk about harsh and judgmental. what is interesting was the guy couldnt even talk, eat or drink when he was finally picked up so who is this 'anonymous' person who claimed he killed his dog with a rock? Think I'll wait for more Canadian news stories on this.
  10. OK. Memo to self. Never ever do anything for fun incase of a disaster. You do realise that people experience disaster every day of the year just 'having fun' right? This guy was an experienced hiker who frequently spent weeks alone in the wilderness. Ofcourse no one forced him to go out there. People do stuff like this all the time. What should we all do - lock ourselves in our houses just incase we become victims of something catastrophic? Just watch out for that meteor that might land on your house. What irks you - that he had to resort to eating his dog to stay alive or that he's still alive but in critical condition?
  11. I'd like to know where '3 days' came from as well. Evenso, 3 days in deep rugged wilderness without food is, as already stated, nothing like spending several days lazing around at home not feeling like eating. It's the equivalent of running a marathon every day without food, and in some parts of that wilderness, without water, but I dunno, maybe maeby knows more than the Canadian survival experts who have been commenting to journalists. The guy is still in hospital in critical condition! It certainly was no walk in the park.
  12. Exactly. Risking starvation doesnt just mean he was peckish.
  13. Because he was in extreme conditions and obviously exerting a lot of energy, not sitting in the comfort of his home. To lose 40 kilos in 3 months is pretty drastic. In conditions like that without adequate protein and fat intake the body starts consuming its own organs. Poor dog and poor guy. Hes the one who has to live with this, not all the rest of us.
  14. Both of my bitches are desexed and neither of them are tattooed, nor are they secretly in the show ring
  15. Good on you, Huski. I hope you guys are ok out that way.
  16. Jesus christ, max. A state of emergency was declared yesterday. Thw worst fire crisis in NSW in 45 years. Who cares how many fire threads there are to help out animal owners! Goodluck to those in affected areas. Especially on wednesday.
  17. Cute dog. So glad hes home. Stupid dam fireworks. Why on earth are they allowed during an indefinite complete fire ban and in our worst fire crisis in 45 years. Absolutely idiotic.
  18. You ARE judging her. You called her a dumb tart. And she's not the defendant. The magistrate wont be dealing with her but the owner of the dog that killed her poor little dog. I dont care if there is more to this story than meets the eye or that she and her friends drop the c bomb on facebook. Her dog got killed.
  19. So your dogs bark but youre upset that someone else's dogs bark?
  20. Poor old girl. Good on the rescue workers!
  21. Wow that's cheap considering it was 3 vials.
  22. I'm pretty sure Whippy has a damn good idea of what the law is.
  23. I'm taking this article with a grain of salt, like every other news report that comes out of china.
