  1. I got really weird numbers I have a AusBred GSD entered all three days And A Junior Bitch GSD LSC entered all three days I got back an enveloped today with "All Days" written on it, but 3 numbers.... Dogs Victoria New Years Eve Show Numbers 524 and 579 ... Dogs Victoria New Years Show Number 485 It makes no sense to me???
  2. I thought if you get it in writing from your vet stating the bitch is fit and healthy that they allow registering of the puppies? However I think this needs to be approved by the controlling body prior to the mating taking place As Benshiva said, mistakes happen and determined dogs will find a way ....
  3. I am so sorry for your loss Dogmate, Its never easy, we try our best, but sometimes mother nature has other ideas We grow so attached to them as soon as we see them In mums belly at 4 weeks ... It's just heartbreaking...hugs to both you and your daughter...
  4. Ava (GSD) usually hovers around the 27-28kg mark...at fill weight in whelp, she was around the 38-39kg mark...she was carrying 8 puppies....she ate very little during her pregnancy, so none of it was fat!
  5. Wombaroo is the closest product to mothers milk, I would go for that :) She's a fighter this one :)
  6. Owey, this brought tears to my eyes, I wish you all the very very best with Henry, he is just divine
  7. Buy some fake grass, they have it in rolls at Bunnings :)
  8. Leopuppy - Congrats on the bubbas and over so quickly, what a text book Whelping :) couldn't ask for better ...can't wait to see some photos :) Dogmate - Congrats on your new additions, now all the fun begins :) Blitza -Look forward to hearing more updates on Ash and her babies :) My little ones are coming up to 6 weeks on Monday, I am getting sad that our time together is almost over
  9. Unless i see any issues with the pups or mum, I don't take them to the vet :) I took one of my pups to the vet at 1 week old, but only took that puppy and left mum and the other pups at home :)
  10. I would never sell a puppy to be a guard dog, nothing to do with not being suitable for the work, its personal choice. My puppies are sold to family/single homes as pets. A GSD is a loyal dog and will instinctively protect it's family and property. A guard dog is usually used as stated, left at a property to guard etc. I do not put all my time, effort and money into breeding lovely sociable babies for them to be dumped In a car lot or other factory.
  11. I don't know what quality they are...the picture On the box looked ok....and for $50 I thought not bad!
  12. I was in the reject shop today and they have wooden sandpits for sale with little long seats on the side. They are $50 I had a look and thought that it may make a good Whelping box :) not sure on size
  13. Agree with you there Haredown
  14. Most puppy canned foods and kibble are chicken based and have much more nutrients for a growing puppy than raw chicken on it's own... If anything I would be boiling and shredding the chicken, the chance of salmonella in uncooked chicken especially is a risk to an already compromised or weak puppy... Just my opinion is all :) I would remove dairy all together and put on good quality puppy food with raw beef mixed in and if any dairy perhaps from natural yoghurt which has lots of good bacteria :)
  15. German Shepherds is 18 months of age from memory
  16. I have heard raw chicken is no good for growing puppies, it provides little nutrition and does something to the calcium levels... He would be much better of on something like warm soaked Advance puppy rehydratable kibble and puppy advance canned as well as some raw beef.. Rice will do little, there is no nutrition in there at all.... He's a growing puppy, feed puppy food as above as it's designed with the nutritional needs for growing puppies... I would never fees growing pups raw chicken
  17. I check every day, last night fine, this morning very swollen...it's gone down significantly :) I have been massaging and expressing as much of the infected milk as I can :) I still let the pups with her as she wants to be with them and I do not want to stress her :)
  18. Well poor Miss Ava has developed Mastitis, she was perfectly fine last night, fed the babies, ate her dinner, polished of their leftovers, played with the puppies and was her usual affection self. This morning after letting her out, she came in quite sad, lowered head, not wanting to move, when she went into the puppy pen, she did not even want to look at the leftovers, which is a huge concern, cause if there is any food, she is there! So checked her gums, colour good, checked her temperature and it was 39.7!!, phoned the vet straight away and went in, vet checked her temp and she had gone up to 40.3!!! Got her on antibiotics and rimadyl for pain relief and anti-inflammatory. As she isnt interested in food, I knew Rimadyl must be given with food, you could see she was quite sore and the look on her face was heartbreaking, so I got the vet to give her an injection of pain relief and anti-inflammatory, the change in 10 minutes was amazing, the brightness came back in her face and she was much much happier... I still had to go to work, so Ava is spending the day under the watchful eyes of my lovely grandparents, who will spoilt her rotten and make sure she drinks well and keeps quiet. The puppies have been on solid food since I introduced it at 2 weeks of age, they have been having breakfast and dinner since 3 weeks of age and get into it very well and very happy when they see the food coming. They are 4 weeks old and still feed from Ava as well as have there breakfast and dinner (combination of red meat, puppy tinned Advance and Advance Rehydratable dry food). The vet has recommended that since the are eating solids, that I should wean them now, as it will dry up Ava's milk supply and help with the mastitis. I have heard mixed responses in relation to mastitis and what people choose to do, have heard sometimes its best to let the puppies continue to feed, to help relieve the pressure, as they basically massage and stimulate when feeding etc. I will be also using cold compressors aswell to help relieve some of the heat and make her much more comfortable. What are peoples opinions on the above? I have no issues with monitoring them feeding on her when I am home and perhaps making sure no puppies suckle on the affected boob... I obviously want to do what's best for both mum and pups and know that there are many on here with lots of valuable knowledge that I can utilise and take on board. All in all though, the babies are fat and thriving, quite big babies, much larger pups at this age, that my other girls litter last year, happy bouncy babies, that are eating well. Thanks in advance for your help and guidance :)
  19. Oh that little Beagle is just divine, so unbelievable cute
  20. That's a great chart, thanks for sharing
  21. My girl refused her meals a lot during her pregnancy from about 5.5 weeks onwards...she would occassionally eat, but very very little....I resorted to buying her roast chicken every night which she would happily eat, but sometimes would leave it also...I was concerned as I wanted her to be getting some nutrients and proteins which are in the dry food, but she wouldnt have a bar of it... She is a food aholic and it was very odd behaviour for her not to eat.. What I did find worked on occassion was having her eat with the other dogs, she would then eat as she did not want to hand over her dinner to the other dog, but still wouldnt finish her entire meal... I gave her nutrigel and also mixed up some divetilec for her to drink, which was at least providing her with some nutrients.. I would alternate and buy fresh steak, one thing she seemed to like was cheese and also skinless frankfurts, basically I gave her whatever she would eat, if she was interested in what I was having, I would let her have mine! My bitch never lost weight though....after whelping, a few days later, she was back to her food driven, eat anything self! lol....
  22. Piper - Congrats on the arrival of your little ones :) Dont mind the numbers, you have a girl....even though I have 6 babies, I also only have the one girl as the other girl is a longcoat...so fingers crossed for both our girlies.. Attached above in order is Red Boy, Pink Girl (1st set) Pink Girl and Pink Girl (2nd set) Pink Girl and Blue Boy (3rd set)
