  1. Oh poor boy - I am sure he will be fine. Lots of lovin' when he comes home.. Will be thinking of you both
  2. ..you actually look to see who's reading stuff? This.. Who actually looks to see who is reading a thread? Wher is Pesh, we need a poll... Don't get it. You're saying you couldn't care less but you want to keep talking about it. Was that aimed at my comment??? Nowhere did I say I couldn't care less (or keep talking about it? whatever it is ) All I asked was who looks to see who is reading a thread... If so, I only just saw the thread and thought it an odd question. Upon reading the thread, I agreed with the others...

  4. The dog sounds very stressed, best to keep it separated from the visitors in an area where it feels safe.. If the dog is crate trained it might be ideal to let him stay in there as much as possible. Not locked in but give the dog access to his crate.. I know my lot like to be able to get away sometimes and I always find them in their crates...
  5. Any news on Bosco? Hope he is doing well..
  6. Pippa went to meet a lovely family today and they adored her to.. They have 2 adorable little girls and a little Maltese cross who is very cute... Pippa liked the their dog and after she settled a bit the little dog liked her as well... They are happy to have a big puppy and Pippa is a big puppy... The husband was pretty sure he wants a big dog, which is good as pip is gonna be a big girl... I have left them to have a family chat Nd think about it and they will call if they decide that she is the one... I have everything crossed for my pretty girl and hope her forever home is just around the corner... Of it is not then that is OK to, I am happy to keep her until her family finds her...
  7. Fave is Staffords and pretty well anything boof head.. Least fave GSPs.. Only because I have lived next door to 2 who are untrained, aggressive and bark all the time... I am sure there are plenty of good examples out ther, I have just never met one... I am not a small dog person either... I would never own one...
  8. Oh very nice indeed... I think I ordered just after you, so hopefully mine will be here soon... I can't wait...
  9. I had a similar issue and the dog was not interested in treats or toys or me and I was getting really frustrated.. Our trainer had me cut his meal food back, so he was actually a bit hungry at training time... Also I was trying to use a firm voice all the time and as soon as I started using an excited voice and a clicker, all of a sudden the dog was interested in me, the toys, the clicker and the treats.. A good trainer is worth their weight in gold... If what you are doing is not working I suggest getting help...
  10. Doesn't the woman who owns one of the local dog kennels do stafford rescue? I don't think she calls herself staffy rescue but I am sure there is one here... Send a PM to Raelene, I am sure she will know...
  11. I for one am happy that you posted about your business on DOL.. Now Ziggy is getting one of the awesome ruthless collars for his birthday :D
  12. We are doing up the backyard and have taken down the metal fence between us and the back neighbours. They have a very barky border collie... So I bought I would test Ziggy using their dog (visible thought the paling fence) as a distraction and the whole time his focus was on me... He came when called, he sat, stayed and then recalled from one side of the yard to the other, all with this other dog and Pippa saying hello and running up and down the fence with each other... I really want to tst him at the park but don't want to undo what I have done... Last time I got eager and took him back to the park as a test, we were only there for about 15 minutes because he slipped back to his old behaviour of not coming and trying to get at the other dogs.. He only wants to play but it is not the point and I realise this that is why we have not been back... I might call the trainer and have another session to see what she thinks...
  13. Thanks for updating and I am sorry to hear the news is not better... Wishing you many happy days with your boy... And more trips to the waterfall he enjoys so much...
  14. Pain can cause drooling... My old stafford had bladder stones and the first sign was the drooling... If your dog has a broken tooth I would suggest a trip to the vet to get it looked at as it could become infected and or be causing him pain. Edited to add that nausea can also cause drooling..
  15. Hehe, that's what I was thinking when I was reading.. Cheeky buggers aren't they!
  16. I have had another visit from Ollie dog.. We have hard floors and when Ollie walked down the hall his nails would make a clicking sound. When Ziggy walks his nails don't make any sound as they are much shorter... Ziggy, Pippa and i were all curled up on the lounge and I know I heard him... The sound was so clear that I even got up to check... Since we got Ziggy we have played the same game with him every night. While watching tv of a night, we throw a ball from the lounge to the kitchen and he goes and gets it and we throw it again... He will play for about half an hour before bed... For the last week, when we throw the ball he stops and won't go and get it (neither will Pippa).. He starts to but then stops at the dining door and he always turns to look for us.. When we say go on he is still apprehensive but will walk to the kitchen and get the ball and bring it back.. We used to play the same game with Ollie... I wonder if Ollie is going after the ball and Ziggy is waiting?? It has only been the last week that he has been doing this... I like thinking that he is around... I don't know if he is but the thought is so comforting.. It was 6 months since I gave him his wings on ANZAC day and I still miss him so very much. Iam glad I have Ziggy and Pippa for doggy company...
  17. Oh maybe I should do a CIT course... I will have a look at them. I like the other ones as they are just one or two day workshops... He is a local photographer and from memory they are around the $160 mark for a day... I am waiting (not so patiently now) for my porteen gear bag to arrive... I ordered and paid for it on the 18th April and I am going away on the 10th May, so I am hoping and praying it is here by then so I can use it..
  18. That is good to know huga, I have just spent a lot of money on the new camera and really want to look after it... I am thinking about insuring it.. I know its not a huge purchase by some standards but it is to me and I plan on having it for a very long time... I will have to upload the pics and get some critique... I have even been looking at a few courses here in Canberra... There are some great one day news running in May. A one day one on portraits, lighting... I did a basic one when I got the 400d and really enjoyed it. Photography is an awesome out from my usual job of accounting and tax work...it makes a refreshing and relaxing change and helps me forget about work...
  19. Hi pampa.. Yes it was horrible to say goodbye but we were so very lucky to have him with us for as long as we did... The house was way to quiet so we took ourselves to the local pound and adopted an adorable staffy cross that we called Ziggy... Ziggy has been great medicine for us and he just had his first birthday, so is growing up fast... We picked Ziggy up a week after Ollie passed away... It really was the best decision for us. We Re fostering pups now to, so that keeps us busy and our minds off the sadness that was almost to much to handle, losing Dan and Ollie within 3 weeks of each other... I hope all is well with you
  20. I foster so crate train all the fosters.. Ziggy thinks he is missing out, so puts himself in the crate when the foster comes out in the morning. He eats his bones in a spare crate that is set up on the back deck... I suppose it makes sense to train him to stay in one just in case I ever need him to...
  21. Oh bubble wrap.. Awesome, why did I not think of that... Thanks kja... I will save myself some bucks and buy some bubble wrap to wrap it all in.
