"like".... this is exactly what I would do if my dog ended up with a rescue org instead of being taken to a vet clinic or a pound!!! I would be calling the police immediately and reporting it and then ensuring they are never able to do this to someone again... Yep me too. -

You know this really upsets me. When ever I try to say what I think of people who open their hearts and their families to try to help dogs by being a foster carer I always feel that no words are adequate to explain .Rescue groups have a duty to ensure the dogs they place with them are safe and suited to the experience level and knowledge level of the carer .One of the first responsibilities of everyone concerned is an honest appraisal and record of what the dog is capable of. Good grief this dog has killed one of your foster carers dogs - cant you see the seriousness of that and how she feels. How this has impacted on her life and that of her children? What on earth is wrong with you? This isn't a competition to say one person is a better foster carer than another and to imply that the first foster carer is somehow at fault. Im dead set serious when I ask if this group has insurance as they are begging to be sued .They show no duty of care for the person who offered to do voluntary work for them or their animals and their family and every one reading this has to worry whether the next animal they offer to take for rescue comes from someone who might over look these things. Im not interested in whether it can eat chicken wings and nor will another person if this happens again. Im sure it made no difference to to the dog the that was killed or it family either. You have no right to treat your foster carers in this manner and another foster carer should not be given the option - put the dog down. If the current foster carer is emotionally attached its the responsibility of the rescue group to ensure she steps back and takes another look at her role and the decision is taken from her. Ethical rescue groups are working their hearts out to ensure the public and anyone who may volunteer to help them is a ease with no concern for something like this happening. Its time to grow up and make the hard decision to ensure no one else is hurt in this way.

I've got my list of "deletes" ready for him. I look shocking in many of the photos - . And DBS .... you're right!!! I looked at the first photo of me, stopped at it because it had similarities but seemed simultaneously foreign. David needs a slap on the wrist for letting those slide without photo-shopping. Jules - NO publishing of any photo of me without my permission, ok? Nup no agreement for me to hold em back. If mine have to go up so do yours. Might make the next one a masquerade ball. -

Not a suggestion Steve... it's actually a fact, and can be proven... have printouts of the Facebook posting in question, and so do the police. T. Better pull the head in then. I can forgive a mistake but that's different. -

Hell Ive seen the other photos - he wasn't real posh with some of the air brushing was he? -
Yep its not just this dog form this rescue - it impacts on perception of rescue across the board. I dont see that the person who had the dog i foster care is at fault and Im truly sorry for what happened to your dog . foster carers are the most awesome people and unsung hero's who take animals in and have to suffer the impact that coauses on their lives and families . I hope the rescue group has some good insurance .

Tigerspirit - O.K. I understand - you made a mistake, you now know what you can and cant do and how to better advise anyone who comes to you for advice. You can easily advise everyone that they are to take the animal to a pound and that they can either ask the pound to allow them to hold the animal in case its owner turns up or you can advise them to contact a rescue group to tell them the animal has been dropped off there. Any rescue which takes in any animal without paperwork and a signature to say that the person handing the dog over is their property is asking for trouble. All it takes is for the new owner to be out and about and see their dog being walked by the new owner and the poo hits the fan in a major way. Pounds have to hold the animal for a period of time before its counted as a stray for exactly that reason. perhaps it would be better to try to educate those who have lost animals on where they should go to look for them - the pounds. I don't know of any vet that wouldn't allow you to use their chip reader to see if the dog was chipped and try to contact the owner for you. If the owner cant be contacted or if its not chipped you contact the pound. If the owner can be contacted you can make arrangements to deliver the animal or have them come to pick it up. So Im glad now that you know that there is no more problem and a good lesson learned. I truly hope that you are not encouraging people to break in and steal dogs too which has also been suggested here. -

I'm actually not seeing any issues with tightening up the "rescue laws". Would even go so far as to say it's overdue. Ethical rescue will prosper as a result, not go back a step. To a point I agree with you but usually introduction of new laws isn't the answer. Why not just simply police the ones we have now.Its not just about laws anyway its about the general perception of what rescue people are like and what they do that concerns me. -
I don't believe that breeders lose their standing for raising white boxers anymore, it "wasn't done" in the past and I believe it USED to be that white boxers could not be registered, therefore you could theoretically lose your registered breeder status for selling unregistered dogs. I did a bit of research on the ANKC site and there is no longer any restriction on registering non-standard colours on the limited register for any breed. It therefore is possible to register whites on the limited register only, which therefore means that boxer breeders will not risk their registration by selling whites as pets. Which of course totally answers my question about why whites can't be registered - these days they can! PS, I got lovely boxer cuddles last night :) What about White German Shepherds? One assumes that the same applies - they can be registered on the limited register only, if the parents were main registered. I think you will find if you do a bit more research you will find that not all state CC's accept white at all.

I find it annoying [plus] too and it needs to be corrected asap. How can we expect people to do the right thing if this stuff is so hard to find? -

There is a major difference between asking those considering dumping their dog to take it to you before the pound and asking those who "find stray" to take it to them. Taking dogs out of kennels etc is theft and soliciting that is just feeding into the nutter mentality that runs in this neck of the woods. It makes everyone take a second look at rescue and sooner or later it means that more laws and more restriction will be on everyone to stop the loonie element. Makes all the hard work rescue does to build their profile and show they are ethical go back a step. -

We all have a "trial by fire" padraic... hang in there, and you'll make some really great friends around here... honest! T. Yep the baptism of fire is very much alive and well, it's a shame and I don't really think it should be that way. Hopefully as social networking evolves the mechanisms of courtesy and respect that are integral in most other forms of social interactions will become more and more uniform across this medium as well. I dont call it a baptism by fire - its about learning how to play the game. The more you play the better you get at it. It takes a minute to learn that you cant just say what ever you think including being rude without consequence. Being here doesn't give a licence to say it all out loud. Many times Ive wanted to say "wake up dickhead" or I would really like a topic to go away sooner than others are ready to let it go.Sometimes Ive laughed my head off about how stupid someone is sounding and Ive been known to walk out into the paddock to yell something out of my system before I respond.I sometimes want to ask "are you on the Grog?" or tell someone to "grow up" Often what Im thinking passes quickly and I forget it in a heartbeat. If I say what I'm thinking at the time I run the risk of hurting someone or having an issue with that person that I never really intended doing. You have to always remember some things as part of the game. +One is never take anything anyone says here that's negative personally. They don't know you or what you live with and have no licence to judge you.It says more about them than you. + Play the rules- the ball and not the man or the umpire will send you off and someone will give you a clip. You don't know who you are interacting with and whether they are in a really bad place - some people who come here are depressed, dying, lonely, suicidal, grieving etc and its not O.K. to just blurt out what you think and attack them and hurt them. Basically before you hit the enter button you need to consider how you would feel if someone said this to you. + if ever the experience is more negative than positive and stops being fun walk away - its supposed to be a recreation, something you do to take your mind off crap in your life and learn about dogs and to share with people who understand how dogs are a huge part of your life. If it makes you sad or miserable find a new forum.

Just Title the thread : "Not for your eyes Erny [or whoever you don't want reading]. Don't you dare come in here Erny. Don't you dare read". Once you changed the title of the thread about the quilt to that, I didn't peak ..... not even once :D . True dinks :D. If someone told me not to come in there isnt a chance I wouldnt

Which is why I dont think he is genetically plain I believe he looks plain but is genetically flashy. Some would breed him thinking he were genetically plain and I think he has a fair shot at throwing white pups if mated to a flashy dog. He IS genetically plain. He has had x pups, to flashy bitches all over the world, and never a white. Sired enough pups to be advertised as "genetically plain". I wouldn't have posted the link unless he was proven as genetically plain. I could have just posted any old flashy boxer. Which simply goes to show that its not easy and not all black and white doesn't it ? Without the added info of what his breeding history is we both would have assumed he would be flashy.
