  1. We need to be concerned about BSL for survival of the BYB cross breed industry and the illegal breeding of APBT's for what reason? The people breeding these dogs that are not APBT related but fit the looks criteria need to take more responsibility for what they are breeding and selling IMHO. No one needs to breed Amstaff X Labradors selling them to naïve people who become attached to their pets for the council to seize them is gross irresponsibility on the breeders part. Better to ask why they see the need to do it in the 1st place. Why do they feel their needs can't be met through the K.Cs? Well that would be because what they do is different - is this a trick question?
  2. What a load of rubbish - of course we use the pedigree to set ourselves apart because it is intrinsically what makes us different . In case you havent noticed our goal is to breed predictable pedigreed purebred dogs generation after generation and you cant do that with out a pedigree system.
  3. Give it a rest - stop beating up on the KC and fight your own fight if you feel passionate about it.
  4. I don't see the point - its got nothing to do with wishing her well - no one is wishing her unwell - having a health condition doesn't excuse you for years of poor behaviour surely ?
  5. Yep except that she told her how to find out if she was a Vic dogs member - she saw the member card not how to find out if the parents were papered or if the pup would come with papers.
  6. Far too many have their own agendas. I don't mind being criticised for my rescue effort should it be warranted however from certain quarters on this forum, it isn't appropriate. Just because you own a dog, know a dog, do the odd pound drive, are paid to work with dogs, read books about rescue work in other countries and so on - doesn't give you any idea of how hard it is to run an ethical rescue group. I put countless hours (pretty much all my spare time) into helping people keep their pets, train their pets apart from rescuing with my own money but some people still like to take aim. I have a very, very low opinion of those people. Agree and some have chosen to encourage the terrorist and illegal behaviours which go even further than this. No one regardless of their current health conditions should have to live it.
  7. Victoria is way over regulated and factory farming of dogs flourishes - less small breeders more large commercial breeders - what an accomplishment.
  8. Its a matter of methodologies not opinions.
  9. The receptionist gave the correct information
  10. Sandgrubber wrote a post on this forum - this was taken to DT facebook page and placed there stating it was my post - that then started threats and became so bad I had to take it to the police - my address was published and there were calls for me to bleed and burn and die- hard to feel much sympathy for any one involved or condoning such things.
  11. Im more than happy to give her what she deserves - recognition for the work she has done in defending her point of view and I respect her for seeing what she felt was a problem and going after her passion and working to what her group felt were the solutions are to a huge problem but its difficult to feel sympathetic to her being treated the way her followers have treated others and still do.
  12. Also - This one means that as long as the dog has a main register paper you can allow your main register dog to mate with it - even if its not in the new owners name on the registry and the owner is not a Vicdogs member. 20.1.15 A member shall not permit any of that member's pure bred dogs to be mated to a dog of a different breed, to a cross bred dog,to an unregistered dog of the same breed, or to a dog not on the Main Register without the prior approval of the Victorian Canine Association Inc. What a joke
  13. And here in lies the problem You can be a Vicdogs member and not even own an ANKC registered dog . If your dogs are not ANKC registered you can breed them and sell them without papers and still be within the code and still be a Vic dogs member. You can also register the dogs and still not have to give papers as long as the purchaser agrees with that in writing. See below. Victoria has a unique situation where the type of exemptions given to Vicdogs members enables them to breed more dogs without the regs placed on those who are not. So there are a ton of Vicdogs members who breed dogs which are not papered. Labradoodle breeders who are now breeding Australian Cobberdogs have been Vicdogs members for years and still are and have never bred an ANKC registered pure bred dog and never will. Many working dog breeders that I know personally and who are not members of any other group are breeding their dogs without papers as Vicdogs members simply for the exemptions they receive by being members. As long as the dogs they are breeding are not pure bred and the only way they determine a pure bred is if they are registered with papers then they are within the code.In fact as long as the dog DOESN'T have papers they can do as they wish AND STILL BE VIC DOGS MEMBERS. 20.1.15 A member shall not permit any of that member's pure bred dogs to be mated to a dog of a different breed, to a cross bred dog,to an unregistered dog of the same breed, or to a dog not on the Main Register without the prior approval of the Victorian Canine Association Inc. And 20.1.23 A member shall provide to all recipients of dogs sold or otherwise disposed of by that member, written details of: 20.1.23.1 The breed characteristics; 20.1.23.2 Vaccination record and / or requirements; 20.1.23.3 Responsible dog ownership information; and 20.1.23.4 All documentation required by the Victorian Canine Association Inc And 4.4.4 Except as provided for in these Regulations any member selling, supplying or disposing of a dog to (15/11/11) another person must supply to that person the signed registration certificate duly completed with the name and address ofthe person and the transfer date, within one calendar month of disposal unless Management Committee otherwise directs. A member shall not include any contractual provisions contrary to this regulation. And 4.4.5 Any member who sells a registered dog without transfer of registration to the purchaser must obtain the agreement of the purchaser in writing that the dog will either not be transferred into the name of the purchaser or de registered with the VCA.
  14. Did you get the name of the receptionist?
  15. The only thing that will change is that she won't be seen as the leading lady – that won't stop her doing what she does Im sure.
  16. The limit register has been used so much when it shouldn't have that it is now seen as little more than a control process which restricts registered breeders breeding them - because reality is that is the only type of breeder that it ever would have or could have restricted. If we continue to breed less and less puppies which we allow out on main register and continue to make it so difficult for people to give it a go legitimately it is inevitable that people will find an alternative.
  17. This is what the limit register was designed for. To limit the breeding of dogs with obvious faults. It was never intended that most dogs would be limit registered. Yep but instead we believed the crap put around by animal rights and limit register to protect our dogs from being used for breeding - what a joke all its done is limit people who may breed a litter or two and register them and still allowed people to breed them without papers anyway. Limited the gene pool and all its done is limit the dogs able to be in the ring or used for breeding by terrible people who want to have a litter and not show their dogs - heaven forbid.
  18. How can gumtree do this if in fact they are registered with someone - anyone? I placed an ad on gumtree this week and the question is Are you are registered breeder not are you an ANKC registered breeder . Im an ANKC registered breeder an MDBA registered breeder and Im registered with the council as a breeder .
  19. In NSW I reckon about the end of 98. I know it came in when I was living at one place and I didnt move there until 97. WA is very different and papers have always been dealt with differently than most other states.
