  1. I liked that one too, loved the broken glass jelly thread, and would have made a nice one exept I kept dipping my spoon in the condensed milk until the fairies finished it ! I dare not bring another tin into the house as the same fat fairy might stick her dipper in !! fifi efs
  2. Competition can bring out all sorts of ego driven behavour, my mother is on a beading forum......mostly little old ladies......one posted a photo of a beaded flower she had made in a thread to show off one's work, another responded that she had stolen her design......and it went from there to death threats, lawsuits, stalking and harrassment !!! then you have the soccer parents !!!! fifi efs
  3. Oh nooooooos, we are sliding down the page ! Troy may have started to relax & made himself a coffee...........can't have that ! fifi
  4. I think the winner should be done this evening, so people who don't have access to the net at work aren't disadvantaged. fifi
  5. I can just see him sitting there, sweat pouring down his face, finger quivering, screaming 'NO NO NO PLEASE, SOMEONE ELSE POST NO NO NO' :D :D There goes my coffee splurk onto the screen & keyboard !!!! And I imagine Troy in his minds eye is picturing us old crazies full of celebratory alcohol.......dog forbid !!! fifi
  6. Trish, maybe you have TRUFFLES do you know how much a pound of truffles fetches ?? Are Fauves included in earth dog trials ? I agree with Nek's suggestion of a dedicated dig / play area. poor GB, I think we better dump a ton of soil in your new dog yard for Fauve excavations !!! fifi
  7. I reckon he has his finger nervously on the 'close topic' button, in case he gets one of us old crazy chooks !! fifi
  8. loved that one ! so creative Also enjoyed the one in the suggestions forum that turned into a Chuck Norris fest but then again, they all seem to ! fifi
  9. Shite Warls, what a fright :-(( I'm so glad your girl is okay, all the possibilities just don't bear thinking about. Gives me the heebiies knowing what people are capable of. fifi
  10. Totally agree with you Centitout, I knew nothing about the difference between nervous & shy back then wih my boy, and took lots of advice to 'get him out more', which I thought was the right thing to do. No, it made him even more fearful, and the only time he was happy was in his own home with no strangers or break to routine. fifi
  11. :D oh lordy, pleeeeze stop with the quoting of that pic !!! I don't want to see it every page !!!! bleeerk ! fifi
  12. Sounds like you have done lots to try & help your lab. There are some fantastic trainers here who could advise you. But I personally feel there is a huge difference between shy, which I feel is very trainable, and nervous - and through one dog I owned, and years of vet nursing I discovered and believe, that nervous temp may sometimes have an inherited component, or a sad accident of birth. sadly some nervous/fearful dogs can be fear biters. I certainly wouldn't be blaming the breeder, rather work with them and see if they have any suggestions, some things just seem to come from nowhere. I suggest you ask here for a very good behaviourist in your area who can assist you. fifi edited to make sense
  13. thankfully I missed that pic & story, but now it's going to give me nightmares !!! fifi edited to make sense !
  14. lordy Stormie, they are pretty imressive !!! mmmmmm.......let me think.....giant breed = broken owners !! * as a teenager, saved one of my mum's Great Dane's from drowning, my back looked like stormies leg * my old Molly dug a hole so large that in the dark I fell into it and twisted my ankle, back and thought my leg was broken as it was pinned under me ! * bleeding lip & tongue, from a headbutt under the chin - a few times. * OH...bruised man jewels from the swipe of a wolfhound tail....lots of times !!! * Quite a few inside out knees.....one of the law's of physics....knees do not bend backwards.... ....well they do, but only with some brute force ! who amoung us has not stood out in the yard and thought....should I dodge this creature hurtling towards me ? or stand still so he can go around ......followed by CRASH & ow..ow...ow !!! fifi
  15. If you have absolute proof of mis-deeds that breach the COE's as SBT mentioned, you can phone Dogs Victoria if the breeder is in Victoria, they are the state's governing body. but make sure its not just malicious gossip or misunderstandings before you start down that road. fifi
  16. Dodo, you are one of the kindest people here, always doing things quietly in the background for others and the dogs :-)) People like you make DOL a special place :-) Alfie is the luckiest dog in Oz !!! fifi
  17. This reminds me of the old game of Red-red-rover ! last one still going after everyone was caught by the whistle was the winner !!! fifi
  18. I'm another who at the moment cant get to the awards (but If I waved a free ticket under OH's - he may roll his eye's & forgive me yet another trip away from home this year !!!!!!) My profile says 2004, but I think I was about a couple of years before then. I saw an ad in the old Ozdog paper for Dogzonline, read & lurked for a long time & then joined. Don't always have time to post, but read a fair bit. Quite a few people here I count as good friends, both IRL and online. Its my homepage and my cyber home. Learned lots and laughed, cried, and shared shoulders with DOL'ers during times of world or personal crisis, dog dramas & joys. Seen the births, deaths, marriages of DOL'ers, beautfiul litters of pups and losses of our hearthounds. Always amazed at the skills bank we have on this forum, wanted to strangle trolls, sometimes knock heads of DOL'ers having a spat, and amazed at acts of generousity & kindness. fifi
  19. I'd love to go, but it's right in between me being away for three two week stints of working away from home, and then our breed specialty. My budget and time just won't stretch any further. And I think if I took any more time away from home, my partner would be running away with a spotted hanky on a stick !!!! Have a wonderful evening, can't wait to see the piccies :-) fifi
  20. Maybe you should alter the title to 'Pet supplies' or something !!! I nearly had a coniption when I saw the words PET SHOP in the Breeders section.... and rushed in with my rightious lecture & soapbox at the ready !! fifi
  21. I think animals just 'know' when the spirit has left, they don't often seem very interested in the body that is left behind. scruffles to Elfin & Bernard, wolfies & deeries are so good at the silent support :-)) those big hairy necks are perfect for hugging and shedding the odd tear in. fifi
  22. So sad for you Elfin, oldies are so precious, not just for the special friends they are, but they are part of the fabric of each day. we always try when possible to allow the other dogs to sniff one when we have lost them. just in a 'casual' kind of way as we dig the hole - so they have the opportunity to smell & sense their packmate has left us. Usually they just give a cursory sniff and wander off. Once though all our wolfies began the most eerie howl of their lives when we brought Navarre home for burial - they just knew. I'll join you in raising a glass for Toby hugs, fifi
  23. We usually just take them straight out the front to the estuary & beach out the front of the caravan park. I think there are some off & on lead areas, but over the years, every time we've been there dogs are running free on the beach area. fifi
  24. That's an "it's just up the road" sort of show :p ;) Yep ! a 'local' show for us is under two hours, and we only have a couple of those ! I normally camp for the weekend for other shows. And will travel eight hours for our specialty. fifi
