  1. Are they are rescue who desex or a for sale only site ? fifi I've removed the link from my quote so as not to promote a non rescue site. thanks Luvmymutts for clarifying their status fifi
  2. One can only go on the what the vet has advised Trish re her internal findings. I wonder if Marie spiked while the semen was still viable ? I've had a bitch spike VERY quickly. fifi
  3. We often will do an internal on a bitch presented in possible labour. You can access at least over the pelvic rim to detect a puppy present or feel the elasticity of the canal & vulva as being associated with labour / birth. fifi
  4. The poll kept throwing an error for me, so I'll just comment. After having a hydrobath for some years with a tall giant breed, and now finishing the new dog barn, we have decided not to go back to a hydrobath - but we are putting in a wash stall like a shower with a low wall and gate. It is tiled with a non-slip drain through matt. I want running plumbed in hot & cold water now, a big drain with hair catcher and runaway greywater for the garden. My breed doesn't need frequent bathing, nor high pressure hoses. I found it difficult with a giant breed to access both sides of the dog in a hydrobath, as we had it against a wall for security, and also the unstable nature with a tall dog - we had a tip over once when a bitch tried to jump out and the whole thing became top heavy. We also didn't like the combo of water and electric switch. I found I spent more time and water cleaning the hydrobath for the next dog, than if I was able to just walk one in & out. hope this helps...my suggetion would be designing one for home use that can utilise the laundry taps, have drainage that can be connected to grey water hoses, as well as be stand alone. fifi
  5. Its rampant - drives me utterly insane, sometimes I don't bite my tongue though but try really hard to keep it civil ! Then today I even unsubscribed from a local for sale FB page, after commenting on the seemingly trillions of byb, I just folded and couldn't cope with it anymore. It seems like every 2nd person I meet now is pumping out byb pups fifi
  6. True, you know your own dogs best and how they interact. what about having the whelping box out where you want it during the day and putting a camp bed next to it ? that way its not being moved back & foward, and you can control the heat better. fifi
  7. I would be leaving them in the one place for the first few weeks, and as few a critters nearby as possible. And no fans directly on the pups. perhaps indirectly. fifi
  8. :D my money is still on five pups Trish fifi

  13. I've mixed it with boiled water (warm) and honey, to make a paste & then gently using a syringe or dropper to gently place it on their tongues. or mix it with milk / milk replacer & let them lap if they are at that stage. fifi

  22. How is she going this morning Fiona ? fifi
  23. If her temp stays down, and depending on how long she's been in hypocalcaemia, I'd expect her to be recovering well after tomorrow's IV calc. hard to say on a forum as we don't know what her body / organ condtion it like. Did the vet mention oral calcium or food advice ? fifi
  24. Was she given the calcium IV ? they are usually put onto a drip. fifi
