  1. I wouldn't base any decision on this factor at all.The fact there isn't a page doesn't mean anything at all. All the Shiba's i have seen at the shows have been very well behaved, a popular breed for junior handlers to borrow . Yes they are a spitz breed so will have the spitz characteristics but that doesn't equate to issues you need to understand tthe breed . People we now breed them here & also do obedience . We have boarded quite a few with no issues at all ,very laid back & adaptable
  2. we get lefy many messages but people speak so fast or say so much you can't understand it either. There have been so big show circuits as well so they may well be on the road or returning .
  3. 4. We board alot of Staffys & yes great screamers but above all very clean dogs who dislike soiling in the "space" As much as you don't want to get up it isn't an option ,puppies mean work & there is no easy option for long term enjoyment. We as a breeder start toilet training pups from 5 weeks, when they ask to go out of there pen we take them outside or to the area set up,they learn very quickly that toileting in the bed/pen is not allowed . Your pups whining may well be a follow on from what has been established by the breeder . You need to decide what the long term toilet plan is now & start the rules from day one,i presume toileting in the crate isn't the plan for the next 12 yrs?? So you need to set the rules now otherwise you will be retraining again in a few months time & it will become harder & harder when there older & been taught to toilet in a way that is underisred latter on. The biggest toilet training failuers are confusion from day 1 . Also if your partner plans to take pup to work be prepared for pup to play up when left .Many people take there pups to work & then when suddenly left all hell breaks lose & no matter what a determined Staffy can be a seek & destroy missile, Also be aware Staffy's are well known for breaking out of there crates that is why the airlines have set crate rules for them so i would be careful in leaving your little one unsupervised in a crate or make sure your crate is escape proof
  5. I come from a state where the smallest amount of drizzles equates to showing undercover which i hate . In all the shows showing the drenched mud slosh slime have been the most enjoyable, the most community spirit amongst exhibitors & just good old fashioned fun & yes i show coated breeds that take me 4/5 hrs to prepare.
  6. Dogs NSW have no say in the matter .
  7. Easy semen test & as a breeder this is the first thing i would ask for . Also would have to consider if the dog has been on medications at the time of mating that can lower the sperm count. Has the dog actually tied with any of the matings ??
  8. We have used Tucker Time roll for over 20 yrs now wonderful product but we only use the garlic one. As for mince we use the Mutton mince from better pets or city farmers wonderful stuff,Tucker time has a new chicken mince out that is also very good edit to add Time
  9. There was a Doberman Club in SA whether it still exists im note sure. I would suggest heading down to a dog show where you can see the dobes, there is a very big show on in Adelaide this weekend
  10. I think your expecting to much in such a short time frame & as such your frustration is confusing the pup, they read body language very well & if they don't trust the owner why go to them. No point chasing either it just becomes a game or worse a fear . I suggest just taking a step back not being so structured & allow pup to do things on his on . At present its what you want not allowing pup to believe its something to enjoy. All our dogs are crate trained but we don't do any of this bribery & the likes in 25 yrs dogs are placed in & all works fine, the more you bribe the more they expect .Ours fight to get in first because sitting in it means so much to them
  11. Mason the breeder is still showing there dogs so there adults come in contact with other dogs. We also show when we have pups or a youngsters & the dogs just come home & play . We use common sense but you can't stop doing everything
  12. It sparkled & said "Setters are better" Now i have that at the bottom which doesn't go away & annoys everyone I like Philby for a boys name
  13. I have had a Fern she was a very gentle girl English Setter Our first Greyhound came with the name Fanny which was a tad weird saying aloud in the burbs. Had a boy called Fletcher English Setter Flame Flirt Freya Fame Flip Freckles Fudge
  14. Are there people out there who you could pay to be a runner instead of bike riding ?? I havea dog who i would like to ET title but the bike aspect isn't his thing BUT he is a great steady runner & i believe would prefer this method . Looking at Perth but if im east that could be an option
  15. We have small dogs but generally 4 weeks BUT in winter & if the day is good we will do 3 weeks on,even if its just 10 mins & laying still ,they can hear.smell & sense
  16. applies to pet owners to we get clients who feel its fine for there dogs to pee up our BBQ,outdoor setting etc etc ( they have to walk the dog over to these items for it to happen ) They poo n our front lawn & don't pick it up or even mention there dog has had an accidient .
  17. Does he lick his penis?? Has it dripped any blood?? My old boy went through a stage for many years where his penis would become swollen & sore due to aggravating the blood vessels. He would lick it to soothe it ,of course when he peed it annoyed it & the circle went around & around. He was on cranberry tablets for 6 years. Medication when it flared up (normally Vibra vet but this can affect sperm if being used at stud) generally it required 3/4 weeks of meds. Worse when girls where due in season ,he hasn't had a bout for 4 years now I had a friend whose dogs also got a swollen penis due to a reaction to the shampoo/conditioner . When you pull the sheath back is it very RED & sore looking ??
  18. Did you buy her ?? Did you have trail period or any conditions if it didn't turn out?? When you took her on what exactly was the deal with visiting, you say to ensure she was in a good environment so what happens if they changer there mind about that?? How long do they expect to visit for?? When they visit how long do they spend ???1.2.3 hrs??Do they take her away or just stay at your place?? Personally i agree with others you can't have your cake & eat it. Yes they have had difficulties & obviously no one was prepared to make the effort to keep the dog ,you are not a carer or boarding facility but the new owner . As for unsettling i totally get that,we run boarding kennels & get owners who want to visit or send family members & we won't allow it because the dogs do get very distressed after wards & very confused . It is time to lay the rules down & you need to look at the long term future . How long do they want to do this for . You adapted there dog not the family unit
