Many pet people do see dog shows as a social interaction, you see it all the time, they wonder over to your crates so Fifi can interact or walk over when the breed is getting ready. We encourage people to attend shows but without dogs because they are going to ask questions & see the breeds which is impossible with a dog in tow. Some shows are so busy that space is very small & there just isn't the extra space for pet people to simply mingle with there dog I do now many breeders will arrange to see a dog & that i have no issues with as generally they dog is seen by the people & care taken but taking a dog to view/watch ringside is very hard . I too take older dogs done or pups to socialize that aren't entered but they also sit in my set up . As for saying no due to no vaccination many show folk never vaccinate so that isn't a reason . I just feel there is a time & a place for dogs at shows & taking your pet isn't always an easy option giving the set up ,space restrictions & the fact it isn't the same as a dog park . Yes many walk them on flexi leads & just don't get it that it isn't a social day out & when told politely they often get shitty . As a side note our show grey was bitten by a visiting pet dog (bulldog as well) & they had no control & they dog was so over stimulated with all the dogs there . Many pet dogs just find it hard to deal with the show set up as well

Questions About Professional Groomers?
Dogsfevr replied to PoppyDog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Cavaliers are very vocal in any system with a cry/whine/talk bark.We groom alot of pure cavies that do this & nearly all the Cavie crosses have this trait. If it was the above style cry i wouldn't be concerned at all. If you didn't ask for a specific trim then what was done is "normal cavie" what you want is not normal but often asked by people so you need to remind them BUT the salon should also have asked what you wanted ,we ask every groom "do you want the same " -
There where a few field mice running about.one also dared to enter the gundog area, i think a Pointer disposed of it. There was one running about the hound ring when we where helping the committee pack up sunday

Vets/nurses Name Of Powder When Quick Cut
Dogsfevr replied to emery's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
we use Ferric Chloride & never cut nails at shows just asking for trouble -
dogs will bloat whether feed dry or not. Many also believe over soaking biscuits increases the rate it ferments which isn't good for the gut I have breeds predisposed to bloat i feed on raised stands & always will, they eat calmer & more comfy I feed dry never soaked plus raw etc etc. Never had an issue . If you believe every study done you would never own a large breed due to the varying stories some i think are scare mongering & create danger to owners who become very confused Common sense works the best

The breeder should show you how to brush your dog correctly & what tools to use.We actually supply the slicker & comb with our pups . The other key is selecting a place to brush either bench/table with a non slip mat/surface

I have no issue with judges if need be justifying why but i see no point just to suit those with sour grapes . Who do they justify it too? Who decides if there reason is good enough?? What is the outcome if people don't agree ?? What time limit is given for the judge to explain ?? When it gets out of hand who steps in ??? Would it appease those people who bitch no matter what even if they still lose, because if they can't see the merits in good dogs then its not up to the judge to be questioned maybe they should be ?? you highlight INDEPENDENT but i am sure if they agree with the same "Face" winning because the dog is actually good they will be called names as well. Klink are you a judge ???

Our ceiling didn't flood thankgod, only had the last repair done in April from the big storm last year. We have piss spouts all over our down pipes & removed the back ones from tin to round poly pipe & they work so much better,we also have piss spouts on the roof eves to help it run off to the patio roof to help in the heavy rain

If you are expecting the 2 to be outside together during working hours then ideally you need to match the traits of the dog you have already & what you expect from the Malt when its new mate arrives. Are you expecting it to play with the new dog ?? How often has the Malt played with big dogs ?? I have big & small BUT they aren't always left together especially when young & the little ones get time out even though they have grown up with them. Big dogs can only be expected to be so gentle when playing with a little dog & the little dog needs to be confidient around big dogs otherwise it won't work

Have you joined the Lab club of WA ,you an also attend as many shows as possible so you can learn the ropes .If your breeder shows & they have the time they will help but also please keep in mind for many of us dog shows is about sitting with our friends & catching up/relaxing so if you want to spend some time with your breeder best to ask which show will suit best, in June the Lab club have there champ show so there will be plenty of Labs to be seen & a good learning day of the lines similar to your pups & what his family tree look like providing the breeder is a regular show person

Surely as they are renting they would have had to ask the others whether they wish to have a dog there ??

The problem you have is the fleas will be setting up camp in your house so even if your treating her you need to treat the house but this of course could be an issues with pups due Me personally i wouldn't be taking a pregnant bitch to a place with flea issues.(well any dog actually)

Small Dog With Chronic Colitis
Dogsfevr replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I had a dog who also suffered bad colitis. We didn't play around with a bland diet but made sure he didn't get to many treats or unneeded add ons. We did give him flora max tablets which helped realign the gut bacteria & in my boys case found giving some apple a day to work very well. I also found when he had his attacks to not panic because stress can make it worse,he was a very sensitive dog ,we just stuck to what was normal & accepted this was part of his life & the attacks would end quicker done this way then changing everything. If we did give any antibiotics we used tribacteral which worked very well but we avoided meds unless a very bad case because whilst not pleasant nature generally fixed it it's way -
In summer do you plan to stop inside visits because if so i would think twice before confusing the dog. Make sure if she is to be out out at night you do so early. Nothing worse than allowing the dog inside privileges where its warm & toasty & then there put outside into the cold. Be prepared pup may object to being put out late & sticking to your routine. How long it will take will depend on how consistent you are without being confusing

crate requirements have changed dramatically in the last few months .It must be IATA approved

Personally i wouldn't have named the kennel on here. We haven't heard all sides of the story & in doing so may not be in the best interest of your friend
