I never pick a name until i have spent a few days with the dog,for me there is no rush when it comes to having that name for the next 15 yrs. Many go by latest fads Country of origin part of its showname registered name. I like short names that are easy for the dog to hear

Homeopathic Vaccines
Dogsfevr replied to First Time Puppy Owner's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Was the lump due to the vacc or did the vet hit muscle which can also cause a lump -
If giving constructive advice about the damages that can happen to a Yorkie is seen as negative then so be it. It is the truth & it is something that everyone should be aware off & something i would be very grateful to be made aware off . Yorkies weight very little & are very fragile but do have the big dog personality. There are people who breed for teacup Yorkies who are smaller still & even more fragile I am very close with 3 breeders & i am well aware of what Yorkies are & there body structure & the pre cautions that you must be prpepared or the risks your happy to take. The yorkie whose kneck was snapped was a freak but the power of the other dogs tail wagging hit it in the right spot & it died.It wasnt expected by anyone as the big dog was a gentle giant . Yorkies are super family pets but one must be very aware that they can break easily & that if you want them to play with other dogs then be very aware that one rough tumble etc etc for a Yorkie can cause damage .

We too find those vaccinated against C65 get it worse.KC can last from 5 days to a month. It simply depends on each dog & the way it fights it. A dog can catch any of the things its vacc for including parvo.

National Agility Team Challenge In Adelaide
Dogsfevr replied to baileyb's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Sounds like a hydrobath would come in handy at the grounds to run the dogs through.Maybe someone can brings there with them?? -
C7 is the trendy injection at the moment & given that the greater majority of dogs dont live in high risk areas it amazes me that vets push it. As for it being a showdog where does he think we all hang out to need C7 C3,4 or 5 are fine some use C6 but C7 wouldnt bother without the vet proving to me my dogs risk which would be great to hear

Second Week Of Tafe Grooming Course
Dogsfevr replied to ilana182's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Its not about pleasing ilana its about what is normal in the world & ethical dog breeders including nearly all of us on here wouldnt wait till after 12 weeks unless there was a good reason why. Maybe the person teaching you spays there pups prior to leaving so there 12 weeks but to make a blanket statement like that is not constructive for the instructor. That also means any shelters pups etc shouldnt be sold before that age . Maybe they have a special breed that they hang on to them but it isnt the right advice for all. Yes some of the toy breeds will be sold latter on due to there size -
Second Week Of Tafe Grooming Course
Dogsfevr replied to ilana182's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Ours go at 8-10 weeks why would any one hang on to pups that are ready to go until after 12 weeks.Weird advice -
"The family agreed I will be the leader, the boss, the official owner." The whole family is the boss, the leader ,what you are is the person who brushes, walks it. Your dog can be friends with anything as long as both dogs are friendly & the corgi isnt a rough player. A friends Yorkie died after a cattle dogs tail snapped its kneck whilst playing

" b) Train the Puppy to be only mine ( the family has agreed it'll only be mine ). Im sorry but this is not what owning a dog is about .Dogs should be everyones & for a dog to be well adjusted family member everyone needs to be involved in the raising, welfare & training. The dog needs to be happy to be around everyone & accept everyone . Often when people smoother a dog to like them only they dog rebels & will often attach itself to other family members who respect them for being a dog . I personally am not a fan of dressing up dogs. There not barbies there a living animal that deserve to be treated with the respect . A dog thrives when its treated as such .When babied you take away there identity & often end up with afruitcake dog or one with social issues. Yorkies are very much peaople dogs & luv strutting there stuff ,doing zoomies. They enjoy life just like a Labrador & treated as such make super pets but via our grooming salon we have dealt with many Yorkies who have been cursed by the dreaded owner who have created social monsters . read books about being a responsable dog owner & then apply it to your own dog.remember your little yorkie is no different to Great dane. All rules applying to dog training whether they be big or small.

Diet can cause farting ,also being in an environment that they dont feel secure . As for the rest its training. The dog doesnt tell you what it wants you tell it what you want.Crying at other dogs is unacceptable behaviour whether it be friendly or not. I suggest its time to join your local obedience club

You nee dto bomb your house & spray the yard . Im all for natural where possible but if you are infested you need to treat it now .& stop the cycle of whats in your yard & house because if the dog has fleas they will also be on you & biting the humans or any guests you have. You need to also consider where the problem has started
-
Why bother blood testing ,if the dog does become infected it isnt the nicest cure & the disease is very debiletating. There is natural & there ther is protecting your dog for an awful condition ,i now which one i select. But we do not suggest the injection We used daily for years & dont fell monthly is any better. It all comes down to the product & its ingredients.Monthly is just more convient

What To Use To Soothe Sore Fly Bitten Ears?
Dogsfevr replied to SarasMum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Personally i would never presume the problem isnt there.Once eaten they seem to be a problem all the time so be sure to prevent flies as much aspossible. Make sure the areas outside are clean ,if feeding bones etc again ensure the area faterwards is clean to avoid encouraging flies.Use the fly traps & apply fly repellant to the ears religously. We suggest to people to apply white zinc cream. It is soothing but the flies find it very hard to penetrate, alsoo bath as much as possible. The quicker you get the build up off the less the flies seek that dog. There are also a number of good products that are used on horses for fly repleeing that can be used on dogs. The purple spray is great stuff -
It is trial & error & also the way you use the products & finish off drying.
-
With coated breeds its trial & error but in my view the more oil & crap you put into the coat the worse it is. If the diet is right & the coat is maintained then it should alays be in good nick ,if it isnt its due to something not being right. For whitening i use different products for different areas as some absorb too much into the coat & some of the colour products are very harsh & drying. Also some oils can burn the coat especially if exposed to the sun which can make it dry & make it bleach quicker. Whilst sardines are helpful you need to look at the whole diet & the products you are washing the dog in as they may simply not agree with your dogs coat but also make sure its being washed out fully.

Ask your breeder but basically you dont need to put the dog on all the flea stuff etc unless your at high risk.We do not use any flea stuff & we show our dogs, have kennels. We dont use any of those monthly things for worming .We use drontal.excelepet which ever is the best price at the time all wormer every 6 months. Your dog only needs the very basic overusing the flea stuff is just as harmful & i dont see any point tereating what isnt there. Heartworm we use monthly liquid . We also have in bold print NEVER to be used on any pup sold by us,if clients decide to head down that path after being explained why & all info is also contained in there puppy paperwork then its at there own risk. I agree if the vet isnt answering your questions than look at another alternative but alos make a list of what you want to ask & also realize vets dont now everything

And Yet Another Food Topic....
Dogsfevr replied to blackwolf's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
For many dogs beef can cause the runs & skin issues & has the highest incidience of being an issue with dog. In our breed to much beef can create another health issue but the other meats can also cause issues for individual dogs. We dont use beef & it is placed in our puppy packs not to feed it any fashion. I would believe with sibes a good fish diet is very benefical for the coat. -
Special Recipe For Added Weight Gain Required
Dogsfevr replied to gossco57's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep agree i wouldnt feed either products either & would say that is why the condition is changing. Supercoat isnt a good quality dry . What breeds do you have as not all breeds can/should be feed certain foods -
Wa this dog raised at your previous residience & if so did he scratch there or more so at your new residience?? Is he red & itchy at any particular time or all the time
-
Pasta is the worse product for causing allergies, Do you feed beef??If you do this is causes many skin issues in dogs What dry do you use??? I would consider feeding kangaroo & veges for atleast 6 weeks with no other treats that could also contribute

What wet diet are you feeding?? Even they dry may not be suitable for your dogs if they cant maintain condition -
Peeing like this can be due to over excite or the humans greeting in an over bearing way & the dogs submits. When ever you leave return there shouldnt be any greeting & bolting out the door isnt acceptable
