I doubt any breeder would supply enough food to do a switch over process. All our pup owners receive there diet chart 2 weeks before pup goes home so they have everything ready pre pup.. I would inform the breeder of what you would like to feed it so there well aware. Many breeders puppy guarantee is given in relation to the diet being feed & continued with will ensure the pups health & well being. We have had a few who have wanted to change for various reasons but some have not beed suitable for our breed. Given you already have the breed there should be no issues but as a breeder its nice to be informed that you would like to alter the diet chart. Personally for the first week i would just feed Euk .This will give the pup a chance to have something normal during its change of home .assit with toilet training, overnight sleeping etc etc & then start mixing slowly.

Agility Equipment In Perth
Dogsfevr replied to Whipitgood's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Better pets & gardens sell some agility stuff, whether its cheap i dont now otherwise head down to bunnings & start creating -
Silly husband & i do hope the pup is a staffy & not something else especially as it was free. I would also consider crate training especially with young children. As the pup is 12 weeks & unvaccinated you will be behind the eight ball there & just be sure the vets will take pup into puppy preschool at that age. Many do have a cutoff age as at his age he could start attending an obedience club.

Depending on how long she was at the groomers i would be surprised if that was the cause I agree the first one nevre cleared up & 5 days of meds wouldnt have done the trick. I have a dog here who suffers badly from them & is permantly on cranberry with acidopholous 20,000.tabs(all in ones) & we have since managed to maintain the problem very well this way but when he does have an outbreak its a min of 3 weeks of meds I also need to insure his penis is clean, Some bitches when they squat just about sit in there pee at the same time & this can be a pain for re occurances, burning etc etc. Also watch your diet

Well at 4 months i wouldnt be expecting miracles. The pup will be going through all sorts of fugglies but what you need to be sure is, is it a growing stage thing or a structure issue. Cow hocks arent something thats fiixed if its structural . At this age over exercisng will not achieve anything ,if the dog is active & doing self exercise then its body is building up condition at its own pace

Roo meat is great but it sent my white dog orange. We use it for the other dogs & all is great with it. Why not just add some roo meant with the dry at present so your dog can get it in small doses to ensure it agrees with him

Vets can check Tonsils but often there is an odour from there mouth aswell & normally the seem to have spells off being unwell, flat. Is she spayed?? some bitches are hormonal pains with eating. You can certainly try the anti histamines but obviously you dont to do this forever. What i would buy is some nutrigel which has all the vitiams & encourages appetite, even check out your local health shop on appetite options. Have you tried feeding each one seperate to see if there is one product she doesnt like which puts her off her meal?? Maybe the royal canin isnt for her?? I would also maybe ask the breder if they could have her a few days to see if she eats with competition . I would try plain chicken cooked or just warmed.Lamb again raw or slightly warmed Baby farex & goats milk Tin puppy(may not be perfect but re teaching eating habits means often using the occasional product we dont like. In Wa we use Tuckertime roll(garlic) the dogs luv it & most fussy eaters hoover it

Feeding Barf - But Lack Of Energy
Dogsfevr replied to cazzaritch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Chicken is low in iron so if it isnt getting another source of iron then theres a problem in its self. The other fact is different dogs do better on different diets, whats good for one could be useless for another plus breed specific needs -
Well first off all stop enabling her to be a fussy eater,by hand feeding her you are not teaching her about eating ,she has trained you to what she wants. Personally if its a tonsil issue we get them out. Cavies seem to belong to sides,fussy/pigs. I wouldnt be too worried about fatten her up but more worried about re educating her eating habits.all the fattest type of food will be off no avail if she doesnt eat consitantly. With fussy/picky eaters our belief is start basic & plain the more you add the less likely they are to eat it. Start to be in charge if she doesnt eat today dont hand feed, dont over do the variety & feed smaller portions & above all dont panic. The bigger the deal you make out of it the more the dog feels the disappointment in you at her not eating. What foods has she eaten on a regular basis??

I would suggest that Obi hasnt had enough independance & on his on time a problem often associated with apartment dogs as they dont get to venture on there own, there more reliant on the humans for stimuli . One of the other causes of issue dogs is the way we treat them, whilst we all love our dogs dearly some people treat them like little humans & the humans feel the need to insist that the dogs need them more than they dothus taking away the ability for a dog to be a dog. If you have a video camera i would set it up & see what the dog does when your out. I would also consider his outside routine, any apartment dog do well but there time outside is a must. Some cavies can become compulsive barkers ,lickers but the key to remember is cavies are sporting spaniels, they are great little working dogs that are highly intelligient & get bored quickly. Kennels could be an option if for example you want to see if the neighbours still complain without knowing the dog is there but a barking dog when your so close to each other would be a pain. It also sounds like time for obedience classes

Minis are hoovers & will eat anything & everything. Never leave the food done to encourage grazing.By picking the bowl up after a set time you become the leader off the food & its competition . Certainly many pups do find the lose of littermates & eating a tad overwhelming but its important that you stick to your guns when it comes to eating habits. Also the portions your breeder suggested may need adjusting.often what they eat in a group compared to on there own can change due tolesser activity,so maybe just take a bit out of each meal. " fatty mince meat" Did the breeder suggest fatty mince or is this what your using because with minis you avoid to much fat due to them being prone to pancreatitis
-
Minis arent garden eaters so i would consider her diet but i would contact the breeder in that area. Our minis luv there crates but be patient its only been a week & not enough time for lots of changes
-
I would consider thyroid issues

Yep we will use the lead if need be but at this stage taking pup out with an excited voice tone with hi "toilet " command will give you success & consistantancy. When out dont allow pup to sleep/play again with a bit of excitement to your voice walk around the area you wish instilling that word.Toileting can either be boring or fun & all our pups prefer fun, If the kids take pup out for toilets they too need to follow the same routine & word.once the pup understands whats expected it will adjust quickly. You dont want the pup to be over stimulated but you dont want it to be so bored it wont do anything

First Season, How Can I Make It Easier For Her?
Dogsfevr replied to Norskgra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Personally if my bitch was acting skittish i wouldnt be taking her to training/show. Bad experiences like this can last a long time on a bitch.i would be leaving her home until she has resettled just isnt worth ruining them for life -
Well i can safely say our dogs would "bunny bash" We did have a dog many years ago that mothered our Guinea pigs but under no circumstance did we take risks. When supervised they all enjoyed themselves when we couldnt they had a super hutch that they could safely & freely enjoy the grass, nature plus be safe. Rabbits can be nasty if they decide to be so & i would also be worried that it could harm your dog either way only fools trust & that often leads to disasters. Bunny can have his grass just create a bunny haven for him

4 1/2yo Border Collie Quickly Tired
Dogsfevr replied to dima's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
" You've proved you're better. Shall I take you out to celebrate?" I guess this aimed at me.. No im not better but certainly wouldnt have waited a year & then ask on a forumn. A dog at that age that ran for a good 20 mins & now is buggered after 4 mins rings giant alarm bells in my mind but maybe i think different . & yes i would have been at the vets asap not because im better because its a big concern -
4 1/2yo Border Collie Quickly Tired
Dogsfevr replied to dima's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would have been a the vets a month after the problem continued.. -
I would be dropping the tin out. If he choices to sleep on the tiles alot i would consider the fact he may be bodily over heating which can be diet related . Does he feel hot & look pink alot ?? Do you give pig easr, schmackos etc etc?? When he pees does he pee on his coat??
-
I would be surprised if hes eating his coat due to heat. Normally they will do it at set times, for example we have a male here that eats leg furnishings when the girsl are in season but never at any other time.Hes in with retirees at that stage so there no big deal. If you want to trim him short to experiment than i would do so but normally hair chewers do there front legs or even leg there feet. If its the back i would be inclined to think something setting it off
-
Not all breeds need it. jaeger the key is to pluck what is suppose to plucked. Many people try & pluck hair that isnt meant too & that will hurt
-
Used incorrectly yes it can cut the coat .For the showdogs you want coat perfection & whilst there great i use different tools for the showdogs but there great for the pet owner
-
You dont pluck easr with your fingers .Use Locking forceps & all will be easy. Some dogs will whine no matter what dont pander to the dog just get on with it.Also the dog is most likely use to having it done on the table . The more the hair build up the harder it is so if your doing it yourself every 4 weeks would be ideal. It is very easy to do.
-
Agree i dont use them on the showdogs but fanastic in the salon with the hairies that come in & we send alot of people of to the dog shop here to buy them
