  1. :p Stitch if you want to feed this way get rid of the Van and add more raw meaty bones that your dog can consume fully.
  2. GLM is in alot of joint products like Sasha's blend. You can also get it on it's own. Yep just put it over the dogs food. What are the arthritis shots?
  3. Bacchus what a horrible thing for yourself and your dog to have to go through. Did they say that his heart had been damaged by the first heart attack? I would be more concerned about the pneumonia then anything else. I would think that being unable to breath properly most likely caused the heart attack. Now he is able to breath and is a few days into recovery I would think, unless he has heart damage, another attack would be unlikely. Here's hoping you get ontop of the nasty pneumonia.
  4. Oh poor boy. Poppy feels his pain and hopes he doesn't have to wear his cast and be in jail for as long as her. Only advice would be to make sure he is crated, no matter how hard that is, and get him onto some glucosamine and something with Gren Lipped muscles in it.
  5. I can remember ages ago something about people making clothes out of dogs hair. With a quick search I came up with this. Pet Yarn Chic Dog fur jumpers
  6. For how long and what exaclty did you feed?
  7. Pop is sitting on my lap right now. She doesn't realise anything is wrong with her other then she is not allowed to run around and either has to be held or confined to her crate or puppy pen for toileting. She is using the leg, with the cast on it, and putting weight on it and her surgeon is happy. Into the third week now of ten. Pip is still with their mum and being a massive sook.
  8. Time to get a new vet I think. For them not to even suggest it was knuckling and then to assess your pups diet. Making suggestions including cutting down food is pretty bad on their behalf. Knuckling is something that needs to be delt with quickly otherwise pups can be left with permanant problems.
  9. Great to hear. Pretty sure with the reduced feeding things will get back to normal. Did your vet even tell you to cut back her food at all?
  10. YEAST INFECTION!!!! Hills Z/D is absolutley crap.!!! Did the same thing as you did Kavik for my boy a few years ago. Itchie all the time, smelt yeasty nearly straight away after bathing, yucky brown wax in ears all of the time and horrible hair. Vets could only suggest cortisone and to try the elmination diet. He was on the Z/D with absolutley nothing else for 6 weeks and it made nooooo difference at all. Plodded on untill someone told me about BARF feeding. A light went off in my brain when I realised my boy was overloaded in yeast. These days he starts to smell a bit after two weeks without a bath, his hair has actully softened and lengthened and no more yucky ears. Get your dog off all dry food. Get him off all grains including rice, oats, wheat etc. Get him onto a BARF, RAW or Pr diet. Give his body time to detox but you will see a difference.
  11. Coming from a BARF feeder I would say consider feeding her BARF and get rid of the dry food. You were already feeding BARF patties so continue with them but add either chicken necks and/or other raw meaty bones as well. Remeber to weigh everything so that it is only 10% of your girls weight daily.
  12. But feeding what someone thinks is right I would say is a major cause of knuckling because they are infact feeding to much. That's why dry dog foods are very confusing as you have no idea of really how much to feed. If you feed a BARF diet then you pretty much know exaclty how much to feed and are able to weigh it.
  13. Thanks for that, I will track some down over the weekend. I am currently using Artemis, but I read the article b the Great Dane Lady and she also recommended Eagle Pack. In the meantime I have cut back to just three half-cup meals of Artemis 1 1/2 cups of food still seems like a massive amount for a 4kg puppy. But I don't feed dry food so I could be wrong. Are you still feeding other things as well?
  14. Have xrays been done to confirm? It looks like her foot is the problem not her leg. If it was her leg it would more likely be the growth plate but being her foot it's most likely to be diet. At 8 and a 1/2 weeks it would be very rare to see the results of premature growth plate closure. Reduce her food and see what difference occurs in the the next week. I am pretty sure you will see a difference. If it is a growth plate problem amputation is a last resort. Previous thread on Premature Growth Plate Closure Poppy has just had surgery to lengthen her radius as its growth plate prematurely closed.
  15. Wow 6kg is alot to lose. How about adding chicken necks if she needs to be beefed up a bit.
  16. Drinking apple cider vinegar helps eye infections Bathing the eyes with luke warm cammomile tea bags would have been more appropriate. I am thinking that there isn't a scratch or injury because it is both eyes that have the discharge. But can you see any damage to the eye surfaces themselves? Please see a vet.
  17. Is the limping really bad? Is she on Sasha's Blend or an alternative? I would be really tempted to get her onto the Sasha's Blend and give it at least 6 weeks to have an effect before more cartrophen. But I can't see how long she is hobbling on it. Would also look into liquid glucosamine. If she is even just the smallest bit overweight I would be getting the extra weight off her as well.
  18. I would be getting xrays before anything.
  19. Ok 4kg would be 400grams of food a day,at 10% of body weight, if feeding BARF. Usually split up into 3 meals. Hopefully this makes sense. Diet Suggestion- Because you are feeding dry I would work out how much should be fed for her weight, look on the packet, and then only feed 1/3 of that a day. Your other 2/3rds of food will be made up of a Raw Meaty Bone (lamb flaps or necks) and BARF patty. Breakfast - Dry food (1/3 of what is suggested for her weight) Lunch - Raw meaty bone (approx 150grams) Dinner - 150grams of Barf Patty (1/3 of 400grams) The tiny rescue pups, Pippy & Poppy, that I raised were fed Breakfast & Dinner- minced chicken carcuss mixed with veggie slops and yoghurt Lunch - Raw meaty lamb bone
  20. Totally agree. I would rather feed fish and give omega oils and flaxseed oil then the RBO.
  21. Sounds like to much food is quite possibly the problem. How much does she weigh? If you were feeding a totally BARF/RAW diet then you should only be feeding 10% of her body weigh daily. You should be weighing her every few days to make sure you adjust the food amount.
  22. Possibly knuckling. Exaclty what are you feeding and how much? Knuckling can occur due to diet and to much food being fed. Knuckling
  23. So WA breeders keep the puppies papers and hand over photocopies of the parents papers? Or they don't have to register litters at all? Sorry doesn't sound right to me.
  24. Sorry but if he doesn't have papers he is not 'pedigree' The breeder has already been untruthful to you. Registered ethical breeders are not allowed to breed puppies and not register them with papers. Your breeder either is a dodgey registered breeder that needs to have their registration disqualified or, which is most likely, a dodgey backyard breeder that has gone and bought themselves two pedigree dogs and decided to get some puppies out of them. With little care for breed lines and if they should be bred at all. They then made out to you that they were good people and charged you a fortune for a dog that could be anything. Very sad. Because he is not a show dog I wouldn't worry about messing with his ears. 5 months is probably to late to do anything about them anyway. If these supposed breeders were such good people they would be able to show you how to glue and tape.
