  1. Ned would be Robbie williams, extremely cute and totally full of himself! Sophie would be Taylor swift, sweet and innocent. Abbi would be Chrissy amphlett, getting on in age and not very well, but still looks good and is a true fighter. Elliott.....he would be Jimmy barnes, full of energy and really loud!
  2. This post is anothe perfect example of your paranoia and rudeness. No one on this forum has "picked on" your three year old son. You however have resorted to namecalling on a public forum.
  3. Between my acd's cancer and my horse's broken leg, we have spent around 15K in the past 18 months. My husband and I spend what is required. But for some folk that is not an option. I think it should be what you can realistically afford. I don't believe ppl should have to remortgage their home to pay a vet bill. But it's all up to the owner on what they think is right.
  4. Funny that we are called kid haters when most of us are parents. Weird. Regardless of if your little precious has sticky fingers or not, I don't want him touching my poodle whom I have just spent hours grooming to perfection. If little precious flattens his perfectly manicured coat I will most definitely be an unfriendly kid hater. If people could educate themselves on how much work goes into a show dog then they might understand this reaction.
  5. Why is it so outrageous? After spending hours grooming and prepping a dog I think it's totally reasonable to ask if the child has clean hands. My guess is that you have never shown a light colored and long coated dog. Trust me, it's not easy to get jam out of an afghans coat ten mins before entering the ring.
  6. Great news Sheridan! Glad it has worked out for you. In regards to the showdog comment, I believe kids should not be going up wanting to pat these animals. Both the dogs and owners are under pressure on showday and don't need kids harassing them. No doubt there are plenty of show ppl who don't mind but I never allow anyone to pat my dogs regardless of if we are at a show or just out on a walk. Also, the crate situation is totally reasonable and you cannot expect a dog to behave any differently. My STD poodle is fantastic with kids and loves them but will rush at his crate when someone goes near it. Lots of dogs are protective of their crates.
  7. For the hundredth time, NO I did not dock my Smithfield. She has a naturally bobbed tail, no one chopped it off. Yet ppl still try to argue with me that I mustve docked her....I think I'd remember if I did. And no, she is not a dingo, she will not eat your children, and yes she is a very affectionate dog as are most smithies. Poodles are NOT born trained, standards are not as easily trained as toys, they take far longer to mature and NO, my entire male white standard is not the mother of my male white toy. Gawd!
  8. Abbi came from a pet store before I knew any better. I must admit she has been the most incredible dog I've ever owned. Loyal to a fault and protective and loving. She does have behavioural issues in the way of slight aggression but I do not regret buying her. She has gotten me thru some very hard times and has been my best friend for 10 years. I don't know where she came from but she is mine and I love her to death. I bought a toy poodle from a registered breeder a few years back. When I viewed the pups the parents were locked in the breeders garage, I shouldve known something was up. My pup had an undershot jaw which I was assured would 'correct itself' over time. She is now 5 yrs old and still looks like a bulldog. She is also painfully thin and always has been. Vet has helped me with her for years and we've never been able to get her to put on weight, she is a little anorexic dog. Do I regret buying her? No. She has a wonderful temperament and is extremely gentle and affectionate, especially with my little girl. I just feel sad for her, poor little mite. But she is in a good home and is well cared for and very loved.
  9. He got off? Omfg what is wrong with our legal and justice system in this country! I really hope someone gets this guy......I won't even say what I would do to him as Troy would prolly ban me. Dammit I just don't understand how ppl like this even exist. What will be next on his hit list? A baby? Poor little neddy, rest in peace. Gonna go give my gg's some carrots.
  10. Niki did u get my pics? I sent them thru the other day.
  11. This is bizzare to see your thread as we went thru the same thing last night. I came downstairs at about 9pm and noticed abbis face had blown up like a balloon. Called the vet and decided to meet him in half an hour but by that stage her face had started going down. Called him back and he said to flush out the mouth and use a cold compress. I actually thought of phenergan aswell but didn't use it. Abbi had been chewing a none all day and had also eaten a prawn at dinnertime. We assumed it was a reaction to either trauma from the bone or the prawn. She is still a bit swollen today but not enough to be a concern. Is your dog ok this morning? Did she eat anything strange yesterday? Hope she is feeling better.
  12. An 18hh stock horse! Gosh that is tall for an ASH! Do u have any pics?
  13. My Stock Horse learnt how to unlatch the paddock gate by watching me do it. Amazingly smart these animals.
  14. Dont need to tell me that, lol, my super quiet, trustworthy, reliable old gelding near on killed me on Sunday. Riding him at a canter, he busts into a gallop and started bucking like a wild bronco! LOL! Poor old me sailed thru the air and landed hard on my hip. Havent been able to walk properly since.....lol, hubbys been trying to get me to a dr all this week...unsucessfully of course! Sounds like you are feeding him too much. Perhaps you should look into that. I prefer to keep my pony by himself as he is a valuable show pony and I dislike him playing with other horses. It is a worry with all the rugs he wears. I wouldn't want a hood being pulled over his eyes. I do put boots on him but still I worry. He is only out in the paddocks for a little while as he is usually in the stable. Nope, dont need to look into anything. He is on a specialised diet from Kentucky Equine Research and Country Park Herbs. But you are a show person, you would know who they are right. So you prefer to keep your pony alone hey....funny how the story changed, i thought u put your other pony down...very strange. Might want to consider what the pony prefers, Im sure he would prefer to have a paddock companion. After all, you did say that he is very lonely. He must be quite miserable being kept in a stable and rarely turned out, i feel sorry for him. Im in the horsey show scene, what kind of showing do you do with your pony? What lines is he from again, i might know who he is....
  15. Lol cas u cold woman! Hehe yeah I really don't care what is said about me on here, just don't want to hurt my friend again. I value her friendship even if she is a silly thing! :nahnah:
  16. Has anyone considered that the lump may in fact be the top of the pup's skull and not anything sinister at all? Many dogs have what could be considered a lump by some at the top of their skull between their ears. trust me it's not her skull, it's huge. If it is her skull then she is severely deformed. It's the size of a golf ball cut in half, remembering she only has a little puppy head. Def does not look natural to me mate.
  17. LMAO what a brilliant idea, maybe I will invest in one of those, sick of ppl trying to pat my horses over the bloody fence. Hehe I can just imagine ppls reaction tho, it would give them a fright!
  18. Thanks Lizzy. I just feel bad for getting angry at my friend, its not her fault, she didnt know any better and I feel awful. But anyways, Ive spoken to her last night and today and she has sent me some vids of the pup, it seems to be calming down and warming up to her. Im trying to get her to keep it and work with it....ive been harping on at her, hehe, poor girl. The pup has a huge lump on its head, from what i can see in the pics and vids it looks like its the size of half a golf ball. I dont like to assume (especially after this thread lol) but I think its been injured somehow. It had the lump when she got the dog so I know it didnt happen at my friends house. It couldve bumped itself or something may have fallen on it or it could be something more sinister. The breeder got back to her and told her off a bit and said the dog is lucky as she 'shoots' them if they dont work, so i wouldnt be surprised if its been bopped on the head. Ill ask her to have a close inspection of the site as it could even be an infection of some sort. Im not telling her what to do anymore, if she takes it to the vet she does, if she doesnt she doesnt, Im keeping my mouth closed as I dont want to upset her anymore. I really hope it works out for both her and the pup.
  19. I sent the pics thru to you Niki.... Thank you sooooo much for helping me out! Really appreciate it! xxxx
  20. x2 x3 x 5 (coz MM is x 4) thank you Danielle for caring about this dog X6 and I can bet we're not the only ones thinking about how good a person you are to do your best and try, even if your friend turned around and did that behind your back. Look at the risk of sounding condescending to her (not meaning to) i dont think she is like "us" if u know what I mean. Us Dogzonliners are a pretty pedantic bunch, some call us over the top and a bit scarey sometimes, lol, you know we are! I think she is just thinking it will be okay. Shes a country girl who isnt into the whole showdog/pedigree/pedantic stuff......lets just wait and see how it pans out okay. Who knows, maybe this pupper will find the perfect home out on a sheep farm or something and everything will be rosey.
  21. Thanks guys, but I did stuff up here. I allowed this thread to continue on into something it should not have become. I also called my friend stupid which was not nice and ive hurt her feelings. I take that comment back, she is not stupid, but it certainly was a silly thing to do to aquire a dog like that. I dont know, maybe i shouldve gotten more info, maybe i shouldve said nothing. I just tried to help but it has backfired in my face. Next time Ill say nothing and sit on the bloody fence like other ppl do.....safer there. Bugger standing up and trying to help, it only gets you a slap in the face. Anyways, she is trying to find the dog a good home and i spose that counts for something. Hopefully she finds someone who is experienced in this area who is willing to take it on. She is aware that Im disappointed in her for doing this, but at the end of the day it is her dog and is totally up to her what she does. Im staying out of it now.
  22. Wowee, look at what this has turned into. Im stunned. Ive tried to help this girl with this dog, but she wont listen to me. So im done with giving advice. Im also done with asking for it in relation to this dog as Im tired of it. I was told on the phone and also via internet that the dog bites and growls and is terrified of everything. The girl is worried for her child and the animal has a lump on its head which I assume could be causing it pain, I have the photo of it she emailed me. Ive asked her to take it to the vet to no avail. Ive tried to seek out a rescue org for the dog, Ive even considered taking it myself at my own personal expense. Anyone who judges me on that can get stuffed. There is nothing else I can do, Im not a miracle worker. Anyways, I just hope the poor dog gets a good home and that this girl learns from this experience. But Im done. If you guys can do better go right ahead and be my guest.
  23. Im done with this girl, she has made me look like an idiot. Not only has she lied to me but she has obviously been deceptive from the very start. She does not have the dogs best interest at heart and Im done. I feel like a bit fat fool!
  24. Thanks Niki! :D That would be awesome, I really appreciate that. Ill email you some piccies tonight or tomorrow, thanks again! ;)
  25. Yes, I was just alerted to it. And it is indeed her. I cannot believe it. Ive worked my butt off all day trying to help her with this dog and now she is advertising it as a giveaway. Ive told her about bybers, puppy millers and ive told her that this dog should NOT be rehomed to a family, i told her it needs to be spayed, taken to the vet, etc, but she goes behind my back and advertises the dog. Im so sick of trying to educate people who dont want to be educated! I bloody give up!
