  1. Charlie always barks at passing dogs if he's out the front watching through the gate but I always call him back in because I know how much it unsettles him when other dogs do the same to him. Wherever we've lived it happens, some houses worse than others. It's worse when they're right next door because it doesn't matter where you go, you can't really avoid them - and we've had the whole big dogs throwing themselves at the wooden gate going balistic next door to us when Charlie was a puppy and it used to scare the bejeebus out of him - it sounded like the gate was going to collapse each time.
  2. Oh Indigirl I'm so very sorry. Rest in Peace Reg, you gorgeous old boy, you were truly loved. :D Big hugs to you Indigirl and to Reg's owner, you both tried so hard. :D
  3. I saw this on tv yesterday. Absolutely amazing!!! I doubt he would have lasted too much longer, thank goodness they made the effort to save him.
  4. Oh that's excellent news! He must be exhausted, poor fella. Hope he recovers more overnight.
  5. I agree with Sandgrubber. Best to phone them and ask. It's determined by the weight of the dog and whether or not you're hiring one of their crates. You may also be able to get a breeders discount if the pup is coming from a registered breeder.
  6. Yay! Keep it up Reg!!!! Thanks for the update Indigirl. ;)
  7. That is good news Indigirl!! He's not ready to give in is he! Bless his heart.
  8. Oh no jacquilee! You poor thing! At least when you froze, you still managed to find your voice so someone knew to catch your dog. It's just the worst feeling and you're so full of dread that sometimes, as with any terrifying experience, your body just doesn't do what you know it should do. Big hugs to you, I'm so glad that your dog is none the worse for wear.
  9. Really good to hear Indigirl. Hopefully your friend will be able to get a few hours sleep too. I'm glad she hasn't had to go through this alone. Hope that Reg is well and truly on the up by tomorrow.
  10. Oh bless him, he's putting up such a good fight! You're being a great friend Indigirl, I'm sure Reg's owner is so glad to have your help and emotional support. Keep it up Reg, we're all behind you!!
  11. Saying big prayers for you Reg, old boy. You hang in there matey! Sending hugs to Reg, his poor owner and you Indigirl.
  12. That's what I've been thinking. All fingers/toes/paws crossed here for some good news.
  13. They certainly are beautiful souls. I think that once you know that Reg is out of the woods, you'll be able to step back and see what a good job you've done and hopefully you'll be able to stop reliving that moment. I can imagine how truly awful that feeling of helplessness would have been. Biggest healing vibes to Reg to gain strength during the night.
  14. So happy to hear that Reg is still hanging in there. You've done a great job indigirl, I'm not suprised you're exhausted! Hoping and praying that he stops bleeding soon.
  15. That's just so tragic. Every time I think of him, I have to get out the tissues. I wish we could each carry a little bit of Serena's pain for her. :D I hope she can take at least a little comfort from the fact that she raised an extraordinary dog who touched so many people. His photos, like the memories of him, will live on forever.
  16. I can't believe it!!! Rocco1 I'm heartbroken for you. I can only imagine how lost little Ralph must be feeling too, without the other half of the Dynamic Duo. Sending all my love to Rocco1, Ralphdog, Ralph, mum who made the wonderful costumes and anyone else who was lucky enough to have this amazing gentle giant in their lives. RIP Rocco You'll be missed by so many.
  17. Well, that sounds as though your 'girl's have got the female attributes covered! Are there any 'bitches' out there who are loving and nurturing - as all good women should be? Yes, my Leah is like that. She's the biggest snuggler and the sweetest girl - she'd love to be cuddled all day. She's been a mum a couple of times and according to her breeder, was really good at it, which I can just imagine.
  18. When I just had Charlie, I'd leave him with a treat if I was going to be out for a few hours (otherwise i'd just say "bye" and go). Once Leah came along I changed it to giving them both a treat before I leave but waiting until they finish it before I go out the door. Again, the treat is only if I'm going to be gone for quite a long while.
  19. My dogs love grass. I buy them pet grass specifically for them to have a chomp on whenever they feel like it and they'll usually have a nibble every day. If ever they feel ill, they'll go out and eat some and vomit and then seem to feel much better.
  20. I make up ice cubes with fruit in - mango's their fave.
  21. Oh dear, you poor thing! If you give in and put the little fella in your bed, you'll get some sleep tonight but it'll just happen again tomorrow night and the night after.....If you don't want him sleeping in your bed, then you're going to have to stay strong I'm afraid. A gentle radio or tv sound in the room might help. Best of luck.
