  1. Oh you poor things, you must be exhausted! Mine don't have water in their crates during the night but when Charlie was a pup we'd pass the water bowl when going out for a piddle in the night and he never wanted a drink. If both are going out to the toilet when one wakes up, then yes perhaps they are seeing toilet breaks as an excuse to have a little get together in the small hours. Maybe you could try letting them sleep together. Good luck.
  2. Thanks Gretel, that's all very useful. Regarding the crate / carrier, I've never had a small dog so have never had to train a puppy inside before. I've read about needing to 'crate' them. Can I use the carrier as a crate? I had the image in my head that the crate had to be a metal crate. You don't have to crate train them Allie but if you're home a lot during the day, it's a good way to toilet train and the crates are a useful bed for them (great to keep near your own bed at night so they're close by) and useful if they need some quiet time away from small children etc. It's also good when they need to be crated at the vets or for air travel because they're already used to being in a crate so it's not as stressful for them. As for beds, we have a bean bag type, a doughnut one (snuggly for winter), a big cushion type and a square soft one with sides and they are all used daily (they mostly like to curl up in them). At night though, they both sleep in their crates in our bedroom. Agreed. Maybe if pup is flying to you, you could just hire the crate from the transport company and then have a wire crate ready at home (we have 60cm crates - the two door ones are extra versatile). Some come with dividers (otherwise you can make your own using a piece of plywood) which is good to use whilst pup is so small so that he/she doesn't just sleep at one end and toilet at the other.
  3. That's awesome news CW EW!!! So pleased for you. He and his little sis are both just gorgeous.
  4. Quite a few houses in our area have put down fake grass lately. The one negative thing that I have heard is that it gets very hot to touch in Summer so the person that told me this said they didn't think it was suitable for dogs at all. I don't know if all types of artifical grass would be the same in that respect and I've never tried standing on it on a hot day but it did make me wonder.
  5. Wishing Ricky a very happy 16th birthday!!!! What a beautiful girl.

  16. Awww what a darling! She has obviously aged really well (please ask her what her secret is. ) How lucky that she found such a loving forever home all those years ago.
  17. I'm sending healing vibes for you Jed and for Kitty, I hope and pray that you both heal quickly and completely. I hope that in time, the perfect girl will come to you and you'll have the chance to fulfill those dreams that have been taken away from you, for now at least. I will keep lighting candles for you and keep you in my thoughts every day, as I and most of us here, have done since we first learnt of the fire. And you can flash your ring Bl**dy will too! I will flash it and the jools in it will blind everyones eyes
  18. Hugs Jed, sounds like the visit from the lovely ladies and your dogs was bittersweet but I'm so glad you got to see them for yourself and I'm sure you got some much needed cav cuddles from your old girl, at least. Bless that little boxer pup with her burns - I bet she'll become really special to you and you'll end up having a wonderful bond. I hope you don't stress too much about the older dogs and that they can be with you soon, I expect they're passing all the goss onto the other dogs about seeing Mum the other day and how the naughty sex fiend couldn't control himself even for a few hours.
  19. Yay for the shoes Jed, I'm glad there was something positive there for you. I'm sure the ponies were pleased to see you too. I can't wait to hear what all the dogs are like when they see you again. A huge thumbs up to your carer, your daughter and the wonderful ladies who are taking such good care of your dogs. It's times like these that the really special people shine. ;)
  20. Just looking in on you Jed, I hope you aren't in too much pain today. It's a freezing day here in Perth but nice and sunny. Dogs had to wear their coats for the morning walk and the lawns were all frozen.
  21. Way to go Charlie The Superdog!!!!!! And Emmy, you are an angel being such a good sister.
  22. What an amazing and extraordinary dog Magnus was!!! Even the way he came into your life Jed, like it was just meant to be. As though it was known that you'd be perfect for each other and that life with you was exactly what he needed - somewhere he could learn to become the leader that he was destined to be; Somewhere that he could have an infinite number of naughty adventures but still be loved and regaled as The Greatest Cocker Spaniel In The World; Somewhere where a dicky heart was never going to hold him back, and where he could show you Jed, with his readiness to learn and with his incredible strength of character, that you were always his Number One girl. Rest in peace Magnus, you very handsome man, and make sure you're keeping everyone else in line up there, won't you. ;)
  23. Jed, no one in their right mind could possibly have thought that you were uncaring in your interview. Incredibly strong to hold it together so well? Definitely. No one who goes into a burning house time after time to save the lives of her dogs can be considered uncaring. Please don't give it another thought. I hope that you sleep better tonight, sweet dreams.
  24. I completely agree with everything that Dyzney said, so try not to worry about being a burden to your lovely friend Jed. I'm guessing that you're so used to doing things for everyone else and being the strong one but it's time to sit back for a little while now and let someone do something for you. Now, sit still while I change your dressings. *Arranges the newfies around the lounge and finds a comfortable spot to eat Harminee's Tim Tams*
