  1. Hi Kristen, I was hoping you would pop in. :D What do you mean about wouldn't be tempted to upgrade soon? Do you mean if I got the 7D it would last me a long long time? I do like the 40D's one of the guys at work has one and i have had a play and I like it, can you still buy them new? I definatley will not buy a secod hand one. It's nothing I can specifically put my finger on with the D80, I just feel I have outgrown it a bit but I am still contemplating if I may be better off to put my money into some new lenses hence this thread just getting some others opinions to help make my decision easier. I may also just decide to stick with what I have. I think it will be a while before the next 5 year interest free at HN so I have a while to decide.
  2. Oh no so sorry for your loss. Did the vet say why he didn't think she would survive the op? Was the tumour too big? How old was your girl? We just never know when things like this are going to happen, so sad. Im sure she is at peace and out of pain now.
  3. Hi guys, I am contemplating upgrading my current camera Nikon D80 and I am considering swapping and coming over to the Canon Camp. I really really love my Nikon but at the moment I just feel Canon is the front runner with DSLRs and they seem to be going ahead in leaps and bounds. However I am still not 100% sure I want to change. I have had my heart set on a Nikon D700 for a long while but have more recently been swayed by a friend who had just recently got a Canon 7D. Has anyone here got a 7D? I am confused with so many and have looked at 7D, 5D Mark II, or would I be better sticking to a 40 or 50D If anyone can help give me a better understanding of what I should go for please feel fre to advise. I would need to start new as all my stuff body and 3 lenses and speedlight are all Nikon, so this would mean going to cf for memory and If I buy body only I woulld need a lense and my thought was to start off with just buying body only and get a 50mm lense as I use it the most on my nikon anyway. I also thought about selling my nikon and bits and pieces but think I will keep them for the more "dirty" shoots like the beach etc..... So if I had around a $2000 budget to start with what would be my best buy??
  4. wow well contests on the new puppies, I hope she has the third one ok? Is this her first litter? Did you see RJs thread she has had some drama tonight too!!
  5. What a cute little guy! Awesome photos Bec.
  6. bloody he'll the whole medical system just floors me at times! I keep saying they don't call it medical practice for nothing after all they are just practicing on us. hope it all goes well Linda.
  7. When I clip my guys I do their feet with the 10 blade especially for summer for grass seeds etc.
  8. KTB, you made my brain go with your post! people comment all the time on the disposition of my lot and ask me about them. I always say at the end of the day they ARE a cross breed and their is NO guarantee how they will turn out, it's pot luck really. I do get annoyed when they all get lumped in the same basket, but some of it has to do with how well they are managed like any dog can be ferrel with no training and excersise. As far as coats go I think if you maintain brush and clip when necessary then their shouldn't be an issue. I have four and have no problems what so ever and all of mine have different coat type, I cope quite well, and call me crazy I love the grooming side of my life with my dogs. Those photos posted disgust me people who let their dogs get like that shouldn't be allowed to own dogs, to me it seems like some kind of cruel abuse. I hate people at times!
  9. Hey Jess, looks like your putting your new pc to good use, are you happy with it? Its been very warm here today as well, but I'm sure it is much hotter up there.
  10. Oh thats terrible! I hope there is something you can do to be able to keep him? Is it all year round or is it just certain times of the year. Is it just Ollies fur your allergic to or the Mileys as well??
  11. Well another lovely day today, Whats everyone up to? We have just got home from a lovely walk at AP. hope we can do it again soon. Hopefully Saturday and Sunday arvo will be a good and we might be able to have a walk after work/obedience.
  12. The keyring idea is a good one too. I usually do my own christmas cars as well, better start to think about how I wanna do it this year, Last year I had to do each dog individually as there was no way they will all lone up together in costume :D out of costume no wories but in is another story, those dam santa hats just are not made for doggy heads
  13. It takes a couple of hours for my guys to self clean, once they are dry dirt etc just drops out or brushes out but I find with the stinky stuff it brushes out but the smell is still there.
  14. I agree any long coated dog would be the same, My girls today rolled in horse poo, home for a quick tub under the dryer for 5 mins good as new!! :D it just part of owning a long coated breed or cross breed as the case may be. Each to thier own I guess, I love the fact that I have no dog hair on my clothes or furntiure or carpet or anywhere really apart from a little in the hair brush from ears and face occasionally. eta: I was fully aware of the coat my guys would have when I got each one.
  15. Glad I'm not the only one who does these things! Some people think I'm nuts but i don't care.
  16. great photos, Nic. My guys get way to much at xmas :D but i love it. The bickys will be for thier friends. I did liver treats for a couple of years but the amount I had to make was ridiculous, the bickys are less time consuming. I do make the liver treats for my guys though they love them! Pigs ears is a good idea too, wish we had somewhere in town where we could get them cheaper. Our closest cheapest place at $1.29 each is 2 hurs away.
  17. Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone gives presents to your dogs doggy buddies? This year (if I get the time) my intention is good so far I am going to make some peanut butter dog bickys, pop them in little cellophane bags print out the recipie and laminate it on little cards and tie the recipie to the top along with a dog bone shaped cookie cutter for my dogs buddies! I usually make a big batch for all the dogs on our last day of obedience too, as we have a little party for our end of years thing. But I just thought it might be nice. So I will be baking my little heart out as they do have a better social life than me :D so thats a lot of bickys to make!! So do you do anything similar, would love to hear of some other ideas??
  18. Thats fantastic, you must be over the moon!!
  19. A couple of favs of my friends Stafford and last one from me for now, my favortie of all 4 together
  20. So many fabulous shots here, I just love looking at all the dogs and they all looks sooo happy. Heres a few of my favs, hard to pick a few like everyone I have so many!
  21. Awww Lola looks so sad in that shot Huga, how she doing ok I hope?? Mine for last week just a snap of Cooper doing his favorite thing before bed, thats my legs either side of him
  22. Nice shot, only looks like the tail is slightly out of focus, did you take the shot on Auto? I have a D80 too and it took me a while to navigate my way around it, I never use it on Auto anymore but it used to be my number one setting the photo forum and challenges really helped me along with much encouragement and lots of knowledge from the more professional poeple, so lucky to have them here!! As far as selling the shots, I think it is one thing if a person asks you to take the photos and is willing to pay but to just snap away then ask for money doesn't seem right. I know if I am out and about with my camera and there is other dogs I always ask if the owners mind if I take some shots, no one has ever said no. But I know personally I absolutely hate it if we are out and about and people start snapping pics of my guys, We live in a pretty high tourist area and in summer the amount of people out and about with thier cameras is amazing and on occasion I have had people ask me if they can take a shot of the dogs, I guess to non dog people my lot appear to be out of the ordinary especially with 4 of them. People from other countries seem especially fascinted? Anyway back to the matter at hand, did the lady ask you to take the shot or were you just snapping away and took the shot. I think some people (non) photography people who don't use a camera are wrapped when they see a great shot of thier dog and would be happy to pay for it. I guess it depends how you get to that point. Do you think the lady thought you were a pro, the D80 does look pretty cool to a non savy camera person!!
