  1. Just a quick update, we had our first unoffical visit to the hospital today for the purpose of the newspaper to come and take some photos, so hopefully we will see ourselves in the paper later in the week. We also got to visit two little boys, One of the boys was in some of the photos. I was so proud of my girls, they were just awesome, didn't miss a beat, Tully got her ears pulled and she didn't even bat an eye. They both were fantastic in the lift and I think they really enjoyed the whole experience. We start our first offical visit next week so we are really looking forward to it. Cant wait to see the girls in the paper but dreading to see myself, I am usually behind the camera! Cleo have you had Shandis assessed yet? It must be getting close now. A couple of snaps from today. All ready to go At the entrance to the Hospital, I am taking the pictures, the other ladys are DOLer Shannon with Mawson and a local lady Betty with her Bichon Lexi

    Ever

What a gorgeous girl, love the composition of the picture too! Just lovely!!
  3. It took me a minute to figure out what it was, good luck with the comp!!
  4. Getting a bit excited now, the girls are all bathed and ready, I'll be back later hopefully with a couple pf pictures. Tenties, hope you had a better night.
  5. oh no, that's terrible I'm so sorry! Poor little puppies, hope the last little one does ok.
  6. Hey Tez, Huski makes a really good point here, has it just been today you noticed it or has he been a bit switched off for a little while? I did think todays class was a little over the top especially towards the end and all that circle stuff that we did, even Lacy was dragging the chain by the end of it, it was pretty full on. Hey I was a bit weary by the end of it too. I found with my lot that about the 10 months stage was when they hit their rebelious stage, Lacy was the only one who didn't really go through it, and Bron is still going through it, DOn't think he will ever change though!! Another thing I found too is with having 4 they are all different with training, ideally I would love all of them to be as focused as Lacy but they just aren't and I am willing to let them go at thier own pace, I love to do it for fun more than anything else. I used to push them a lot harder when they were younger but now I just go with the flow. Definatley must do some work with Bron next week!! I reckon Gus is more of a smoocher than an obedience man!!
  7. Hey Tenties, hows the pups today, Hope you got some sleep last night!
  8. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out!
  9. More to think about. As far as needing the 7D I don't but jut figured if my budget allows why not but I totally see your point, go for one of the others and spend more on lenses. Makes sense I will keep it in mind. There doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between the 7D and the 10D Lic, the 40D I reckon has been one of Canons better models, Don't think I have even seen a crap photo out of a 40D even bad shots still somehow look good! Question, if I had a 50mm lens on a D80 and then a 50mm lens on a D300 would there be a noticable difference in the photo? Or would it be similar to the two pics posted from the 7D and the 10D? I guess what I am getting at is if I upgraded from the D80 to the D300 and stayed with Nikon how much difference is there going to be photowise or does it really "ALL" come down to the lenses??
  10. Thanks for the reply, the more I read the more I love the 7D. Interesting what you said about liking the zoom for your action shots, I prefer to get closer to the action but I guess it depends what the action is as sometimes it's physically impossible to be real close, I guess that's where the zoom comes in handy. As for technical, one of my girl friends calls me Mrs Technology : laugh: I am somewhat of a gadget girl and love the tech side of everything!
  11. Ok I'll bring em along with a stack of others you can go through and grab any you may want. Not sure about the paper, they may, I'm a wee bit nervous. Haven't been in the paper since I got Tully when the extra ladies did a story on me and the dogs. Shan however is an old hand :D I'll just be wrapped to have another article to add to my wall of fame!
  12. That's great, don't think I will be walking either gotta come Home and get the girlies spruced up for their big media debut :D on Monday and the boys need a bath too. Hey are you interested in the tomorrow series (for the kindle) I have the lot in mobi format ready to go I could bring them on a stick.
  13. Nice shots, do you have a prefers lens for action, I have taken some great action shots with the 50 mm 1.8 but I'm sure there is a better lens for action? Is there one lens that would be good for action and portraits?
  14. Oh no so sorry, RIP little liver treat. Hope you have an ok night tonight!
  15. Tez you coming to training tomorrow? I didn't bother going for a walk this arvo it really hasn't let up with the weather here so just got caught up at home and decked out the back of my car with new plastic that will hopefully last for a couple of months!
  16. Hey Tenties can you add some pics to face book? If you can then at the bottom of the album there is a link you can post then we can see the photos. Or you can email some to me and I can pop them on here if you like? I would love to see the pups hows the little fella going still doing ok after mums over nurturing!
  17. That is a good explaination, I couldn't get Shells link to work. Do you guys think it would be fair to say in simple terms the Nikon D300 would be comparative to the 7D and the Nikon D700 would be comparative to the 5d Mark II similar in price and in specs when using the comparison chart.
  18. One of my friends dogs drinks the sea water like it is going out of fashion and afterwards he is projectile both ends, It is quite scary to watch but usually once it is all out of his system he is fine, he does look green till it all passes through. Hope your boy is ok but I'm sure he will be!! My lot are beach bums so glad they don't drink the water.... vomit and poop x 4 no thanks :D
  19. Full frame is exactly that - full frame. A crop sensor (depending on what sensor it is) is mostly roughly 2/3s of the size of the full frame. It means that the image, if taken from the same position with a 5d vs a 7d, the 7d photo will look cropped compared to the 5d, if that makes sense.Full frame is beautiful for portraiture (which is what i have it for) - not so great for action as the full frame sensor is slower and can't take as many frames a second as the crop sensor. ETA: This probably explains it better http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full-frame_digital_SLR Yes I think I get it, so in actual fact with a cropped sensor your photos will actually appear as if you are closer to the subject. Ill check out the link. Think I am going to have to do a lot of research before I make any sort of decision. Thanks Annie, I'd hate to be in my shoes too!! How about you 7D owners post some of your besties here for me to drool over!!
  20. Awesome I'll check it out, I have heard you talk about it but never checked it out being Nikon and all!
  21. Can anyone explain to me in really simple dummy terms what is the difference betwen a full fram and a crop sensor? My friend tried to explain and she prefers a crop sensor cause she said she can get more zoom, she is a wild life artist and shoots lots of wildlife been to africa etc etc so the crop sensor suits her needs better. But I am stuggling to understand what the actual difference is. I have been checking out dpreview that comparison table thing is great!!
  22. Thanks guys some really good things to think about. Mostly I love taking doggy shots as you guys know either close up portrait style or action shots, so far from the info here the 7D sounds like it would be great. Kristen your right I do need to decide if I really wanna swap over and I have been thinking about it quietly to myself for quite a while but haven't done much research till today. (dam my friend and her 7D) I could sell my Nikon body and lenses and speed light but not sure I'd get much for them and like I said I' d really like to keep them for the more dirtier jobs. :D
  23. Thank you tlc. Sophie was 8 yo. The worst part of it is that it was so unexpected as she was as active as ever, her appetite was great....no signs of anything being wrong with her, only yesterday she was a little quieter than normal. The last thing I was expecting was a large cancerous tumour. Gosh, owning pets is without doubt a pleasure and I could not imagine life without a dog or two....but it doesnt come without its fair share of anguish. You are spot on with those words, it is so hard to see them so full of life one minute and gone the next, you will have a tough time ahead of you, Big hugs to you.
