This is Nike, she is 16 and she belongs to one of the trainers at our obedience school, nicknamed "Nanna" Nike by Tez (another DOLer) she loves to wander in and around the other dogs especially the puppys, When they all over her she just tolerates them she is great, She is very deaf but can still smell the treats and occasionally cons a handler out of one or two.

Thanks, yes I think having a pet that is into thier twighlight years is really something special, Our old dog was 16 when we had to make the heart breaking decision to have him pts, I would say to date it is up there as one of the hardest days of my life. Maybe we could make this thread into a post up your oldies for everyone, sorry if this has been done before?

Hi Tanya, I seen Bert and Floyd today, I said hello to him for you and he commented that he hasnt seen you and Bruno for the longest time. I told him about your knee and he said he hoped to see you around real soon. It was lovely up there today the grass has been mowed really short and there was a lovely breeze a perfect dog day There is a pony club thing on there this weekend so there was lots of preparation going on for that.

All mine sleep in our room and have done since they were pups. Dogs are pack animals and love to be with their humans. Could you fit the play pen in your room? PF I posted at the same time People think we are wierd having ours sleep in the bedroom but it suits us and them so why not!!

I was never a fan of crates till my youngest dog came along, he was just so hard to deal with at bed time, he wouldnt let the other dogs sleep if we left him out of the ensuite and if he went in the ensuite with the door shut you could hear him a mile away. The crate saved my sanity and we never looked back. He was never a dog to go to the loo through the night but if he did need to go, he would just have a little cry and out we go and strait back in not a problem. I did however have a problem moving him to the other side of the room, another 2 nights of crying (this was done when he was 18 months old) but then he settled. I still feel bad that he sleeps in the crate now, occasionally he has slept on the bed and if he is tired he is fine. The main reason for him being crated at night is he wants to disrupt the other dogs and play all night I joke he is an eternal puppy and still at 2 years old he hasnt changed!! But he likes the crate and quite happily goes in there at bed time. My lot always get a treat at bed time so as soon as he sees the treat he is sitting at the door to the crate waiting to go in.

Hi guys, I just wanted to post some pics of my old girl Holly, she turned 18 in December and she is still soldiering on like a trooper, she is a little deaf now in that she cant tell which direction I'm calling from but apart from that I dont think she looks her age, she still eats like a trooper and likes to lay outside in the warm sun. I took her to the vets for a check up a few months ago and he said she was in excellent health, she had a couple of calcified bits on her teeth which he removed and he was suprised by her age. She has only ever been to the vets twice in her whole life, the first time for desexing and then for the check up. She never goes away from home, she is always where I can see her. She gets on fine with the dogs, we call her the queen of the house!! I dont know how I will cope when she is gone, she had been my best buddy for 18 years, I think/hope she has a few more in her yet!!

Are we up to week 7? More fab shots everyone, I need a little help deciding this week, so if anyone would like to help me choose feel free. Inside ones from me this time. 7/52 Two of Coopers favorite spots inside, his bean beag and my bed, with his funky hair

Sorry, but I do hope you get it sorted quickly though. It's official, these bags have caused nothing but grief, embarassment and confusion!!! I really do love my hound bag, it is up there in my 3 fav dog products

You cant remove the collar from the strap, they are sewn together!! I guess it is made like that incase you lose one or the other, using it as a collar and lead. I have had the need to use mine once when I went for a walk and 3 of mine had collars on and one didn't. So it did come in handy but not something Id use all the time and it is not adjustable.

Hi, Why dont you get her a crate, she can sleep close to you and she wont be able to escape and she will/should cry in the middle of the night when she wants to go to the loo. When she is in the crate you have more control over where she is and dont have to worry about her roaming the house while your asleep. She might not like it at first but be consistant, and you will be suprised how quickly she takes to it. My first 3 never slept in a crate but my pup who is now 2 slept in a crate as he cried non stop for 2 nights in our ensuite, so a crate beside the bed was the only answer and it works, he still sleeps in it now. I only ever used the crate for sleeping. Good luck with your pup.

Hi Guys, I have been watching this thread with interest. I bought an original hound bag when they first became available, then in July last year my mum bought me one of the new ones, the pink camo one for $49.95 at pets in the city. I have used it so much it is coming apart anyway what I cant figure out from this thread is how can someone on ebay have the bags, I am presuming they bought them from the supplier at a really cheap rate but then you wouldnt think selling them at $25 they would hardly be making any money on them?? When mine is really worn out I will get another one. I love mine to bits!! My old one I still use for the beach.
-
Oh they are so cute!! How did you come to have 2 pups at once? All of mine are 3 and under so there is abotu 6 months between, they are all fabulous friends and have been a breeze to train all very clever and eager to learn new things!! What about a pic of your GR? Photobucket is great and very easy to use. I agree if you have 3 boys under 3, 2 pups will be a breeze, and I bet they all have plenty of fun together!!

Someone may be able to advise you about clubs in Ballarat, I think there are a few DOL ers in Ballarat. Some clubs have an age limit with younger handlers.

Do you have a photobucket account? all youhave to do is upload your pics to there and then copy and paste the link with the img tags to here and wa la you have your pic right in your post!!
