  1. We have 4 but I do most of the 'work' although I don't consider it work, bathing, clipping, brushing, feeding, training and the list goes on. My OH just gives and gets doggy cuddles and earns the money. I do work part time but it's mostly his wage that contributes to the dogs care. So it's a joint effort.
  2. Nice CM, Cat the 50mm is pretty cool! Nice kitty and pretty orchid!
  3. I'd have more than 4 but realistically 4 is a good number for us (2 adults no kids) we can comfortably give them all they needs, great food, great vet care, grooming costs (good shampoos conditioners, clippers etc) spend enough time with each of them training etc. I think any more would be stretching it. I love having 4 it's a great number! :)
  4. Thanks JJ, you have been through it so you know exactly what it's like. She certainly has a long road ahead, she has always had health issues for as long I can remember (25 years) Yes she has the stockings but earlier in last week she had a lump cut out of one leg (tennis ball size, it appeared after the fall) so she can't wear the stocking on that leg and she has the other leg bandaged as well. She also has celulitis in her legs which makes it difficult for her to wear the stockings. Plus a cut under one foot (same leg as the broken leg) which has to be kept open due to an infection which is only controlled by anti biotics. At one point they were contemplating amputating the foot but for now its being managed by long term AB's. There is a list a mile long really there is more but I won't bore you with all the details. The Dr came in tonight when we were there and he showed us some photo copies of the leg and what they did to it, they were amazing, the new rod they put in replaced the original one in her hip and goes right down the length of the top part of the leg, nearly to the knee. Sean is worried and has had the week off work to be there with her as much as possible, he is very good to his mum and does so much for her, even down to helping her with her meals etc, makes her cup of tea for her, takes her treats, (chips soft drinks, paper mags etc)
  5. I think it fits perfectly, such a sweet shot!
  6. Look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.
  7. Seans about to head up shortly, hopefully she will be a bit better than yesterday, they had to get her out of bed to sit in the chair as she is high risk for DVT and it was agony for her so hopefully today she is feeling a bit better. The amount of things she has wrong with her is a mile long so this broken leg was just the last straw.
  8. I have never seen babies in a web like that, cool shot that mother is so huge! Some more from me from yesterday arvo, Probably crazy as it was so windy here but I just felt like having a bit more of a play with this lens, haven't had a chance to shoot any people properly with it yet.
  9. That sounds awesome! Well done on the two merits.
  10. Nice shot Huga! Jo what is the lens you got?
  11. Hi Guys, hows everyone doin? I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone who would be interested in a CKCS? He is around 3 years old, micro chipped, desexed and free to good home. If anyone wants more info and knows of anyone who might be interested PM for more details. We have had a bit of a rough trot, Seans mums been in hospital 'again' and after 3 surgerys this week alone we are hoping thats the end of her run of dam bad luck. We had our hot water service blow a gasket on Sunday so had to get a plumber out and he installed a temporary system then Monday came back and installed a new unit. I would definatley recommend them if anyone needs emergency plumbing or just plumbing in general. It was Phil Kavanagh. So hoping our luck will change a bit now, we don't need any more bad luck. Dogs are all good and fighting fit (touch wood) Lacy had a bit of a sore leg for a day but that was it, she was doing zoomies at the park and jumped a ditch that was way too wide for her little legs and landed funny, she came limping over with the foot up, I checked it and nothing broken, she was walking on it again pretty much right away with a bit of a limp, by the next arvo she was fine, so I think it was a bit of a sprain. Apart from that all good! Hope everyone else is well and coping with this windy crazy weather!
  12. Well I still haven't had much of a chance to get out with the 100mm, so far I havent been hugely impressed with the iQ but I think it is just me. I am having a catch up with a friend and her hubby tomorrow he has just got himself a new 7D so we are going to have a play. I have been using back focus a bit more to see if that helps. I am about to head out to the gardens to see what I can find to do a bit more macro stuff. These are two I took today just mucking around in the car, just thought they were interesting.
  13. My OH's mum has had a terrible time of late, 3 surgeries in a week So we have been spending a lot of time at the hospital, I took my camera today to have a fiddle with it while we were sitting with her.
  14. One of my girls when she was younger had a problem and needed them expressed a few times, the vet charged $18 so i just took her in if she needed it, after some investigating I added physillium (sp) husks to her diet and she never had to have hers expressed again. Eventually he didn't need the husks anymore and now hasn't had a problem for years. I found with my girl once she was changed to a mostly dry diet (initially Eagle pack, then nutro now black hawk) there was no more problems. It could depend on which dry I guess.
  15. Awww Poor tag, hope he is feeling better this evening. Nice shots.
  16. I got the canon 100mm, I'm pretty sure I can manually focus it even if it's in auto, must check that. I noticed if you move slightly the focus changes by itself, it was a little discombobulating. Freaked me out a bit to be honest. It's kind of like Magic! Can't wait to try it on some people, the only subjects I have at the moment is the dogs! My OH is getting annoyed every time I point the camera at him now.
  17. Snook I could have written exactly what you wrote in that post. Glad it's not me then. I just can't wait to get a bit more time to have a proper go. I'm still also getting through the Bryan Peterson book, it's great. And yay me, I figured out how to do a watermark in lightroom, I want to add a little picture to it but haven't figure out what I want it to be yet.
  18. Thanks, do you know with that third one, I didnt even realize I had captured the reflection till I put the texture over the top of the photo, its the only one I did texture with at the bug was on the lazer light and it was just plain and boring. Should I be focusing manually? The auto focus seems to have a lot of trouble finding the subject when I am close up. I am so crap at manual focus but I am thinking taking macro shots might soon make me have to learn to use manual. I have trouble seeing whats in focus in the view finder close up but no trouble far away. Admittedly I only had a small window to have a play today as I had to go to work, so lok forward to my days off when I can get out and not have to look for unusual stuff around the boring back yard. Its great though it really makes you look at things much differently. Like tonight I seen a spider in a web (I really dont like spiders) and I said to my hubby quick get your light there is a spider outside i want to shoot. he was like you want to shoot a spider you crazy woman. As it turned out he complained about me taking to long, the spider shut down and squished himself into a little ball and the photos were awful. it was a big macro fail!!
  19. Don't get too excited!
  20. Well i'm not sure i'd call my first shots a success. and my back yard is super boring, only full of bugs bums and uninteresting flowers.
  21. Thanks Yep the 17 - 70, I do think I am finally getting the hang of it and no w the weather is getting better I will get out with it more! Can't quite get the action that I would like yet. And got the macro today and needless to say it will be another learning curve for sure. (about to post some shots in the macro thread)
