Thanks Guys, Huga, these were Raw, I have been shooting in jpeg mainly because I only have 1 CF card and can only fit around 300 photo in it and it goes so quick if I am using fast continuous mode. I think I will stick to Raw from now on as I really noticed a difference today when I popped them in LR to edit. Must invest in another CF card soon.

Id love to see an example of the photo stack, that soulnds like too much hard work. I think I mentioned about posting sooc photos and it wasnt real well received. What about a square crop challenge, that might be interesting? I really don't mine what we do.
-
So you really think these ones look ok? I even checked them at 100% crop and they were pretty spot on. I seen another patch of daisies and one had a bee on it, do you think I could get the bee in focus, I was so close and the dogs were all milling around me wondering what I was doing and it was windy. Talk about a juggling act! I am actually quite suprised at how close in the 40mm will focus, its a great little lens. I have been looking at flash rings today, might just get a cheapie from ebay. Do you think they are a necessity?

Yea it did show that in the tut, it was very informative! Thanks again.

Can you tell me what that is exactly?

Exploring isolating your subject Encompasses depth of field (so play with apertures and distance from backgrounds/subject/camera etc), watching out for distracting background elements (no posts out of heads, learn to move as you visualize your shot to eliminate/minimize funky extras you don't need in the shot etc), altering your shooting angle to get a cleaner background, giving your subjects room to "breathe" and others bits & bobs. I think it's a pretty flexible theme that allows for all kinds of lenses, techniques & photo opportunities while building on the strong base of "focus". Good step in the move from snapshots to more polished photographs.

Skeeter sounds so cute! My youngest (now 4 and a half) loves and always has shoes socks and slippers, he has quite the fettish. As we don't wear shoes inside he has to be happy with socks and slippers, he never chews them but just carts them everywhere if he can get a hold of them. I find random sippers and socks everywhere. Everytime he has one and I have my phone handy I snap a picture so he has his own album. Slippers and Sock dog!

I played with the sigma in the shop and thought it would be the one I went for but the Canon was $100 cheaper so hopefully I have made the right choice! Not that the Sigma would have been the wrong choice all the reviews were fabulous and the pics form that lens are

Huga you always need it. CM, you said you have the 105mm is that the sigma? or does Canon do a 105mm too?
-
Dont be embarrassed, its awesome to have lots. I wish I had one of each! Since I got the 7D (6 weeks ago) ive got the Canon 50mm 1.8 the Canon 40mm the Sigma 17 - 70 and now the Canon 100mm f2.8 macro (hopefully arriving tomorrow! I was the same today ummm now which one to take. I decided on the 40mm as I haven't used it much, its a versatile great little lens so far. Saxon looks like such a smoocher, he has a lovely face. :) The brown lab shot was an old one but I have been trying to understand how to do textures in PS and Snook so kindly sent me a few links to tutorials and I finally got it. so I picked a picture to try it with and I liked that one but the back ground was meh so I texturised it. I'll probly be adding texture to everything now I know how. Thanks Snook!! A couple form today

I finally feel like I am nailing focus now and its finally coming together, getting in practice for when the new lens arrives. A crappy old daisy was as good as anything to practice on. lens was 40mm f/8 1/500 iso 100

I know I can't wait to get it. Just hope I can figure out how to use it properly! KKS love the sandy foot! Pers, nice spider, I really hope I can capture some spiders but I am a bit scared especially of the jumping ones. I opened the door early this morning to a massive perfectly formed spider web on the veranda and wished I had of had my macro lens.

Gorgeous shots Huga, One from me, not a recent one but a personal challenge inspired by Snook, thanks so much I finally figured it out, the last tutorial in the Kim Klassen site is brilliant and so easy to follow.

Lovely, I really love the background in the one with Chester, he really seems to pop out of the photo!

PC, that blog is great, his square formats really work well. I've never thought of doing any that way, might have to give it a go. Huga, love royal Sid.

Not sure where you are, but if you ever get stuck again, and if Mornington is not too far away for you, we always have stock of all 20kg bags. - $75 Lamb & Rice and Chicken & Rice. $80 Puppy and Feline. Pick up by appointment, happy to do outside business hrs. www.k9softdogcrates.com.au 0412 070 866 Thanks for the offer but a bit far away, I'm in Warrnambool. Im silly because i have 3 friends in town who feed the same and I could have went and got a few days worth off them but It just didn't cross my mind. Yes I still think the price is good, If I went back to what I was feeding before it was $115 - $120 for 15 kilos so BH is still good value. I was only paying $75 a bag at the start.

Chookie shot is lovely! MM, gorgeous shots!
-
Your probly right, anyway all good now, they got the order in and we picked up a bag of adult. Putting them cold turkey on puppy for two nights was a disaster, not sure if it was coincidence or not but they drank so much water and all 4 went out about 3 times during the night to pee. Its my own fault for letting it go so long and just assuming the shop would have stock, I wont do that again. Its been well recieved here in town the shop owner said they can hardley keep up with it! Price has gone to $89 now is that comparable to other prices?
