  1. Just stunning all of them! *eek* about losing your photos, that's aweful. Was there no way you could recover them?
  2. It's such a hard decision to make, we just knew with our old boy. Enjoy your time together tomorrow, I'm sure you have enough memories to last you a lifetime and more. Big hugs to you and softly cuddles for Charlotte.
  3. I would think that sounds right, 52 for the small one and 58 for the zoom. You can find the specs for all lenses on canons website, it has filter sizes for the lenses too. I like the horse shot but find the trees a little distracting.
  4. You can find reasonable priced hoya filters on ebay too. Steer clear of ultra cheapies as I have read a few times they can get stuck on a lens.
  5. They can be pretty pricey, I have used ones from ebay and they have been fine and a lot cheaper. You have to make sure you get the right size for the lens too, so your 50mm would need a 52mm filter.
  6. They sure are and I know it is probably so bogan but I have taken some good shots with mine! I love it! Yes definatley a good price, just make sure the warranty is Australian, some of the cheaper prices are still canon lenses but they are grey imports so they don't come with Australian warranties but at the end of the day if you have to send it back due to it being faulty then you would have to do the same at a store although depending not he store they may just replace. The 1.8 is still a great lens, I had that on y D80 and it hardly ever left the camera. You would have seen Hugas work here, a lot of it done with the 1.8.
  7. I only use uv filters, They are basic and keep your lens protected, imagine spending over $1000 on a lens to get one little scratch on it and its ruined. Especially if you are working around animals. If you get a scratch on a filter you just take it off and pop another one on.
  8. There is a couple of links in THIS thread post 11 about filters.
  9. You have to buy the filter separate then they fit on the end of the lens, they screw on.
  10. Wonder where everyone else is, usually threads like this are full of good advice!
  11. All about filters Choosing a filter I have only ever used uv filters on my lenses mainly for protection more than anything else. Yes that 50mm 1.4 is a good price. In the shops they are just over $500. Did you order the 1.8? I use my iPhone a lot too, I love instagram!
  12. Fantastic shots! Refresh my memory again is your 70 - 200 f4 or f2.8 and is it IS or non IS Absolutley love the look on your Birmans face in the shot with Monet. Loving your Whippy Jackets! Snook, Love Sleepy J man!!
  13. Whoops! Have you got filters on your lens?
  14. How long do I have to wait before I can watch it on iview?
  15. Your probably just getting the feel for the 50mm, (did you use 50mm for this shot?) after a while you will get to know how far you need to be away from the subject. You can always be a bit further away and crop your shot to your liking.
  16. Bumma, I missed the start, wonder if it is repeated later on abc 1? just found the guide it is repeated in the morning at 11.00am.
  17. $56 are you sure its the 1.4, I think for that price it might be the 1.8? Still a good lens though. You have definatley upgraded the 60D is without a doubt an awesome camera. Why is it still in the box?! Oh another must have is filters for your lenses.
  18. Im just excited checking out all the stuff I want. Ill be super excited when I get my camera. I remember how excited I was when I got my D80. I am currently using a Canon G1X and it is awesome too. What a bumma about your 400D that really sux. Tripods are a bit hit and miss online as you can't really get the feel of it till its in your hands. I was reasonably lucky with mine, its heavy but not to heavy to carry and definatley wouldn't blow over. I looked at some at Harvey Norman and they were flimsy and very light. Did you order your 50mm online? I was thinking about getting mine from DWI, good price but not sure about not getting the Australian warranty.
  19. fantastic shots everyone, love these type of threads. Its amazing how much they change from pups to adults.
  20. A must have lens would be the 50mm either 1.4 or 1.8 especially if you like doing portrait shots. I am only just this minute looking at lenses and accessories such as a remote. Ebay is good if you just want a cheapie. I hope some others who already have remotes pop in as Id love to know if the ebay cheapies can do as good a job as a more expensive one. I got my tripod off ebay and its been a great work horse. There has been a few threads lately Ill link them here for you. THIS ONE THIS ONE Pictures HERE from the 50mm What did you use before? I have only recently sold my Nikon D80 and upgrading to a Canon 7D soon. Looking forward to it. Enjoy your new camera and make sure you post photos.
  21. More discussion HERE with pictures. Im thinking about getting this lens and I have even got my camera yet!
