  1. Is there anything more stunning than a healthy and happy Rotti? T.
  2. Lilypily still has the same mobile number sas - and I'm sure if you can get the dog up to her, she'd happily take it on and do the needful for she and the pups... she's only about a 5 hour drive from Sydney... T.
  3. Lace won't rememeber the discomfort part of her vet stay - so don't panic about that, OK? What she will remember is the good stuff - the chicken necks and when you finally come to take her home... T.
  4. I have found that the only way to make someone responsible for their own actions is when they will have to foot the bill for being careless. Give your brother the bill to pay each and every time he is responsible for Spencer needing to see the vet - he'll soon get over having to shell out the money. T.
  5. NSWAR are now located way out the back of nowhere... I wouldn't feel comfortable taking on a whelping bitch at my place just yet... it's barely 12 months since the parvo pups were here. I'd like to give it at least another 6 months just to be sure. Not that I'm not completely comfortable about the whelping part - but I'd hate to see tiny babies getting something nasty that could have been prevented. The only people I can think of that may be set up to take on this girl may be Big Dog Rescue... T.
  6. Mine love being talked to, hugged, patted on the head, etc... they never got the memo either methinks... T.
  7. Something along the lines of "you do the work and pay the ongoing costs, and we'll have the adoption fee" maybe dogmad? T.
  8. My Zeddy is a senile delinquent... lol! May Don be the same as my Zeddy at the tender age of 15... T.
  9. Thanks for your reply. No. she has been at the Vets the whole 10 days. The vet just rang and said that she has improved dramaticly since yesterday and is starting to put the foot down now. They have her on antibiotics and cream etc for the dermatitis. They are going to xray the hip tomorrow or Friday to see if it is still stable. He is quite happy with her progress today. I still feel worried but a bit better since his call. Thanks again. I'd be making sure they don't tack on any extra cost for the post-strapping swelling/dermatitis... they really should have been checking for both regularly while the dog was in their care. Call me a cynic/tightarse, but seriously, it shouldn't have happened on their watch. The actual cost of the antibiotics is nowhere near the price they like to charge us for them either. Fingers crossed that the strapping has done the job they hope, and that she doesn't need surgery... T.
  10. Run free and with nor fears sweet Jesse... you were well loved boy... Big hugs to you and yours from me and mine Lulusuki... T.
  11. Tell me about it... my cousin asked me to find him a rescue pup, but his wife kyboshed the idea because they have 4 kids and a couple of chickens that he's always "too tired" to help look after... so he went and bought a BC pup from a pet shop... Said BC has never had any training, pisses and shits in the house, and is a general pain in the proverbial - and they insist on bringing it along to family gatherings where it bites anyone who gets anywhere near my cousin's children (the youngest of whom is 10)... I suppose they got lucky that it seems to be pretty healthy so far... it could live for 19 years! T.
  12. Zeddy could be made available on the Sunday if you need an old greying black dog who will do pretty much anything for treats and doesn't scrap with other dogs - she is trained in basic obedience, sit, drop, stay, and is socially acceptably behaved around other dogs and humans of all ages. Email sent... T.
  13. Sounds like they want a pup now, and are finding and excuse to get one asap rather than possibly having to wait for a really well bred one... T.
  14. 2 things I'd be trying with the dermatitis... lather with Neocort for a couple of days - rub it in thoroughly so it's effective... or if it needs to be dried out, you could try EDP powder or similar. May need antibiotics for a week to boost the healing process... If the dog has been at the vet for the time she has spent in the strapping, then I'd not be expecting any extra bill for the swollen foot or dermatitis treatment (as she should have been checked regularly for either happening)... but if she was at home for the 10 days, then it's anyone's game re "fault" for the swelling and dermatitis... T.
  15. It sounds like the strapping was done a bit too tight - as evidenced by the swollen foot... and that it possibly had gotten wet or damp somewhere along the way, which has caused the dermatitis. T.
  16. That actually made me cry... that poor dog... T.
  17. I delighted a lovely lady out walking her Tentie one evening... she was completely amazed that I knew what a Tentie was - and could recognise one. Of course I got myself lots of cuddles and kisses from said Tentie too... lol! T.
  18. Well - Zeddy is the best trained of the lot... but she needs help to get up onto the furniture as she's nearly 15 and a little stiff in the cooler weather... lol! I have a DOLer neighbour who has a couple of lovely dogs who may fit the bill though... *grin* T.
  19. You were a beautiful boy Dougie... and very much loved... smile down and purr for your mumma to not miss you too much, OK? T.
  20. Damn! I wish mine were well trained enough to do anything but drape themselves on the furniture... *sigh* T.
  21. If the dog has been accurately (ie. pathology results) diagnosed with Hemagiosarcoma, and he's anaemic and lethargic, it may be that the kindest thing for him is to give him his wings with dignity and love. You may be able to buy a short amount of time with expensive treatments and surgery - but at what cost to the dog's quality of life? This is one of the nastiest cancers, as it usually attacks the internal organs like the spleen, liver, lungs, and heart before you'll see any outward signs of the disease... by which time it's usually pretty far gone internally. T.
  22. Maybe Dougie is telling you it's OK... if you've found a lovely little kitty to help mend the hole in your heart, I say go for it! T.
  23. People go away when they have dogs? Really? Seriously, I usaually board 2 of my dogs, and my lovely neighbour is happy to feed and play with the other 2 for a few days. If it were for a longer time I'd board all 4 - but that could end up costing more than the actual holiday itself... *sigh* The only time I've had away from my dogs in many years is when I've had to go to hospital - and 2 of those visits weren't planned... errr! I have amazing neighbours and friends who happily managed my dogs while I was laid up. T.
