I don't know if it will help much, but can you give Maddie a gentle cuddle and whisper in her ear that Aunty T is thinking of her and wishing that she can be strong again soon? T.

Help! My Neighbour's Dog Killed My Husky :(
tdierikx replied to HuskyDrake's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know for a fact that I'm not getting near the bitey end of my OWN dogs if they decide to have a real barney... tried and tested actually. The best I could manage on my own was to grab one of them by the back legs to minimise traction for getting a better grip on the other dog... and it seriously take a hell of a lot of stamina and strength to do so for more than about a minute while 2 dogs are seriously fighting each other. HuskyDrake did what she could to try and stop the attack, but a committed staffy type and a Husky in a fight to the death? - not too sure I'd try to get between them either... and I've actually had some experience and training for that sort of thing. My condolences to you and your family HuskyDrake - I hope you manage to get some form of action taken by the council - even if it's only a fine for the dog getting out of it's yard. It doesn't matter that the attacking dog is now dead, penalties for letting it happen in the first place must be applied IMHO. Melzawelza - what fines can be applied for this sort of thing under the act? Surely there are more fines that can be issued than just being at large - such as the fact that it attacked and killed another dog whilst being at large, for instance? I'd be wanting the book thrown at the negligent neighbours who knew their dog was dog aggressive in the first place. This should NEVER have happened. T. -
SQUEEEEAL!!! They are adorable! T.

Zuri is a cheeky girl, isn't she? Fumo at Taronga has discovered that when he does cute things, he gets an audience too... T.

I have a Lowepro DSLR Video Pack 250 AW backpack. The bottom half happily holds 2 spare shorter lenses (90mm macro and the 18-270mm), and the Canon 60D with the Canon 100-400mm lens attached. There is also room for extra cards, batteries, etc, in there... and it has a side access zipper. The top half is space for my lunch, etc... I love my camera backpack! T.

Gorgeous babies, and such a pretty mumma dog... May I suggest that you keep an eye (or ear) on the all white pup as it starts getting about - around 4-5 weeks of age - check whether she can hear ok, as some all white bull breed dogs can be deaf. The hare lip could be due to the very young age of the bitch, no? It's not completely uncommon for such a young mum to throw an abnormality, yet go on to breed true later. I thought that tesslc was wanting to spay her girl anyways, and this was an "oops" litter. T.

I just looked at the video you posted... that is a classic symptom of a dog in pain. The shakes are timed with the waves of pain he's feeling. If he were my dog, and based on all of the latest info you have provided, I would make the hardest decision asap and give him his wings. Read this poem... it may help you with your decision... If it should be.... If it should be that I grow frail and weak, and pain should keep me from my sleep, then you must do what must be done, for we know this last battle can't be won. You will be sad, I understand, but don't let grief then stay your hand, for this day, more than the rest, your love and friendship must stand the test. We've had so many happy years, what is to come can hold no fears. Would you want me to suffer? So, when the time comes, please let me go. Take me where my needs they'll tend, only stay with me until the end, and hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see. It is a kindness that you do to me, although my tail it's last has waved, from pain and suffering I have been saved. Do not grieve, it should be you, who must decide this thing to do. We've been so close, we two these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears. by Julia Napier, copyright 1999 T.

I'd keep the 60D as a spare... or even the 700D... *grin* I love my 60D to death, and it is permanently paired with my 100-400mm lens. T.

I use a 100-400mm lens for my Zoo photos mostly nowadays, but my 18-270 used to do the job admirably also. When I had my 450D, I only used the 55-250mm kit lens and it did a nice job too. I'd go with your kit zoom lens and see how you go... you may be pleasantly surprised at what a decent job it does. The only reason I splurged on the 100-400mm lens was the fact that I am going to the zoos every weekend, and it seemed like a good investment because it was going to get a LOT of use. I certainly couldn't justify the $1800 price tag otherwise. If you need a bit more reach than the kit zoom, you could look into the 70-300mm lenses available out there... or look at the Tamron 18-270 for the best bang for buck... T.

I've seen rescue dogs whelp between mouthfuls of their dinner... and still been jumping up for a cuddle with a pup partway out... Funnily enough those same crazy dogs were the best mums once they realised that they had a litter to look after... lol! I've also witnessed first hand how a lack of calcium can affect a Bull Terrier bitch (she chewed the ears off a couple of pups) - and how quickly she responded to calcium supplementation. It was literally minutes for her to settle and dote on the pups... instead of trying to eat them bit by bit... I'd make sure your phone battery is fully charged, and call your breeder as soon as you see the first pup coming out... you will have a coach who knows what they are doing that way, OK? T.

Is she sitting on a slippery surface like tiles, polished wood, lino? I'd only really be worried if she sat like that on a non-slip surface... T. -

Same here... and those 2 do NOT run together now under ANY circumstances! Up until this "pack" I'd always had at least one male in the mix - and found them to be a relatively calming influence for some reason... T.
