Fostering is a great way to see if your dog will be readily receptive to having a companion around... and who knows, you may find yourself a new forever friend at the same time. I agree with persephone - any new addition to your fur-family should really be for yourself first, and your other dog's companion second... T.

That it is Daisy... *grin* ... and we have some lovely sunshine so far... Daisy Boo's babies are nearly 3 weeks old now, so I'm anticipating they will be naughty and trying to waddle about everywhere - a couple of them were already starting that behaviour last weekend... errr! Blossom's babies will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, so I'm hoping for some pretty puppy eyes on them today. Oh - and the runty white and blue girl is gaining in weight - she is still lighter than the rest, but very mobile and feeding well by the looks of it. Does anyone envy us having 14 Staffy cross pups that will be fully mobile and almost self sufficient in a few weeks... aarrgghh! T.

... and you reckon I get some seriously cute pups to foster... Dimples and Dweeb are stunning!!!! I am so jealous of you getting all those shmooshy face cuddles. T.

The "money shot" is the cute head tilt... like the little fellow in the first pic I posted above. You have no idea how many calls we got for him... *grin* T.

The trick to taking nice puppy photos is a long lens... and time and patience. What you need to do is to have puppy outside in nice sunshine, playing happily while you sit and wait for them to leave you alone. Once they go off to do their own thing, train the camera on them and start snapping. Take LOTS of photos - most will be crap, and you will delete them, but you are also more likely to get a few really nice ones too. T.

I've got it on my calendar... *grin* T.

My 3 are all different too - except when they want something... then they are all clingy... lol! I haven't been to the bathroom without a chaperone since I left home and got my first "only mine" dog... and after 25 years of it, it seems strange when I go to someone else's house and don't have a toilet buddy... *grin* Zeddy is definitely Mummy's girl - she likes to be wherever I am. Trouble is a crazy Labrador - she will come and demand pats on a regular basis, or be off checking if anything has changed in the back yard since she was out there 30 mins ago. This can alternate with leading Pickles or my fosters in a merry game of zoomies. Pickles is hot and cold - sometimes she wants to be as close to me as she can, and other times she couldn't care less if I even exist. T.

I remember all those months of care and assistance you had to put in with Rocky Katdogs... and I also know how close it got to looking hopeless before she started to show signs of recovery. And the saddest part of Rocky's traumatic experience was that she had hardly eaten much of the stuff at all because she obviously didn't like it... scary! Ever since seeing what happened with Rocky, I've been so careful to only feed my animals Australian made food - even if it's the cheaper stuff (Bonnie) - they love it, and it's not been irradiated. T.

Love your suggestion Sway - even a shirt or the like with "in training, please don't approach unless invited" would be a start. T.

I have no doubt that once mumma dog has settled some, she will be thoroughly vet checked to make sure she is in the best condition she can be... Does mumma have a name Ams? T.

It's a little hard to know which rescue has put a name on dogs (or cats) at Hawkesbury. It would be awesome if it was indicated which rescue was taking any particular animal... like we can see with Renbury's list. Come to think of it, it would be nice to see the same with Blacktown poundies too... or any pound that has a page in the Urgent forums here. Is this info too hard to source from the pounds? IMHO, Renbury have it well sorted - they even update their own webpages with the info so everyone can see it... an awesome effort from all involved there. There is rarely any doubt over which animal has options by which group. T.

I will definitely get pics of all of the babies every Saturday, OK? I promise! We should have eyes on Blossom's babies next weekend... *grin* And Daisy Boo's babies were trying to get up on all fours last weekend, so we may have some walkers there next weekend too... T.

I have 3 words for you... DON'T... DO... IT!!!! Best advice would be to wait until after baby has arrived, and you have your bearings back... then if you want to add to your brood, go for it... T.

There is also a variation of Parvo getting about that doesn't have the "normal" presentation. There will not always be blood in either vomit or poo, and the smell is different until it is too late. Dogs will be off their food in the morning and a little flat (but not chronic), then by afternoon they will collapse almost comatose suddenly. If you think that a dog may have this evil disease, act very quickly by getting them to a vet - don't wait for other symptoms... T.

PS - I'm thinking Blossom's beau may have been an AmStaff or Stafford (or cross thereof) with some blue colouring in his genes. Then again, we aren't 100% sure what mix Blossom is either - she may have come from a litter with blue in the mix too. We have 3 that look to be various shades of brindle, and the one that looks all blue at the moment may turn blue/brindle. We also have 2 white and blue, 1 black, and 1 black and white. Some very nice colours all around I reckon. Staffyluv - as I work fulltime during the week, and the mummas' carer is very busy - you're just going to have to settle for weekly (read weekend) photo updates of the babies, OK? *grin* I am seriously looking forward to fostering some of these pups - they are gorgeous! (and I have friends who go gaga over staffy type pups... lol!) T.

NSWAR have a couple of Malt/ShihTzu crosses that would love some children to play with... a little girl named Lulu springs to mind - she's a complete sweetheart in every respect, and can't jump or climb over fences. http://www.nswar.org.au/index/contact_us.htm - ask about Lulu if she sounds right for the family. My Zeddy (Rotti/Pittie) just turned 13 at the end of August... and even though she has lots of grey now and barks like an old dog, she doesn't appear to know that she's supposed to be old... *grin* T.
