I picked up 5 of the cutest pups today... 3 boys and 2 girls... can you pick the breed mix(es) in there? They weigh in between 2.4 kgs for the smallest, and 3.3 kgs for the largest (both of the girls as it turns out... lol!), and are around 7 weeks old. Came in from the RSPCA who had listed them as GSD/Husky - any guesses why? hehe! Anyways, here are some quick and pretty crappy shots I managed to take once they were safely ensconced in my granny flat - the weather has been crap here today... *sigh* Biggest girl... Smallest girl... Smallest boy... He is a bit of a chewer... we will work on that... The other 2 are a bit camera shy, but I got a group shot... The other smaller boy is the BEST smoocher too... he was on for climbing on my lap and snuggling when I sat down - and he wouldn't move! He kept reaching up and giving me kisses on my chin when ever I made kissy noises... too cute! He's a sort of fawny colour with a dark muzzle and the most gorgeous big dark eyes with just the right amount of eyeliner... The biggest boy is the most timid of the bunch, but he responded well to gentle snuggles and kisses on his pretty nose - I think he'll be just fine in a couple of days once he's settled in a bit. T.

Jessie Has Had Her Operation :)

My hat off to you John... thank you for your kind involvement in Jessie's new beginning. Kudos! T. -
When people ask me what type of dog Pickles is, I just say "take your pick, it's probably in there"... she's a true blue Australian Camp Dog (born in an Aboriginal camp in the middle of the Northern Territory). This is Pickles... I just picked up 5 pups from the pound today - listed by the RSPCA as GSD/Husky. They weigh between 2.4kgs and 3.3kgs and are about 7 weeks old. Anyone care to guess what may be in there? 'Cos I'm sure as all heck that GSD and Husky certainly aren't high on the list... I'm seeing ACD, Kelpie, Aussie Shep, Dingo, etc, myself... Biggest Girl Smallest girl Smallest boy - ain't he purty? T.

Quarantine - Seems Not To Be Important Anymore

Never a wiser word spoken Powerlegs... I like to actually KNOW the dog I'm putting up for adoption... we usually have ours for longer than 2 weeks to be sure on ALL counts before trying to place a dog into a new home. T. Amen to that statement. If only everyone was interested in getting to know the dogs they were rescuing before rehoming, we'd all be better off. Thank you dogmad... It can be hard to not want to place pups reasonably quickly - but as long as we give them lots of love and socialisation, and make sure they are going to be happy and healthy canine citizens, it doesn't matter that we don't list them for a few weeks and miss out on that really cute stage at about 6-7 weeks of age. We aren't looking for people that fall in love with a photo - we want to rehome to people who really want to have a canine family member who lives up to expectations. Oh - and it also feeds my addiction for puppy breath... *grin* T. -
Not long after I moved into my current address, the back neighbour's cat decided to come into my yard - it did not survive the experience. The cat owner made a complaint to council to try to have my dogs declared dangerous. The council ranger came to my house and asked to see my dogs... no problem, come on out back and meet them. What he found was a well enclosed back yard - 6 foot colourbond fencing all around, AND a dog run with 7 foot chain link fencing with my 3 Rotties inside. He asked me where the cat attack happened, and I pointed to inside the dog run. He asked if he could go inside the run with the dogs, and I said sure, go ahead... he let himself in and got the usual Rotti tonguing and bum wiggle in greeting. He then proceeded to sit himself on the ground and smooch with my "vicious" cuddlebums for a good half hour... I thought he'd never leave... lol! Upshot was no declaration on my obviously well contained and totally friendly dogs. Didn't stop the neighbour going out of her way to call council for any number of "issues" she had with my dogs - and when all those failed, she actually resorted to throwing baits over the fence which resulted in one dead dog and another hospitalised before she was satisfied and had her payback. What I learned from the whole thing was that if a cat ever got into my yard again and was attacked by my dog/s, I'd dispose of the evidence rather than contacting the owner and offering to pay all vet bills for their roaming animal. I'm picking up some pups from the pound tomorrow... breed ID is going to be a lot of fun... they are obviously crosses of crosses of crosses. The big issue is that the microchip registry only allows up to 2 breeds listed in the cross... and you can't just put "crossbreed"... grrr! T.

Anyone Know What This Lump May Be
tdierikx replied to keetamouse's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
If it's soft, see a vet... if it's hard, it could be internal scar tissue from the desexing and will probably flatten out over time. Have seen similar in pups who wouldn't stay quiet (ie. not play like loons) after desexing... I don't see any redness or anything that may indicate infection or the like... T. -
I'm totally loving that last shot... life is so hard, isn't it? *grin* T.

Bridgewater (us) Woman Faces Animal Cruelty Charges
tdierikx replied to espinay2's topic in In The News
Considering that there is only 1 bowl in each crate, and they appear to have been emptied with the relish only a Lab can dish out to food, I'd be inclined to think that the picture in the article was taken around feeding time, and the dogs may have been crated so that each got their allotted share without annoyance from the others. The fact that they aren't obviously barking like crazy at the stranger photographing them also seems to indicate that they may not spend a heck of a lot of time in those particular crates. T. -

Ever Start The Day With Certain Ideas...

Poor Socs had had a couple of lumps taken off him... benign lumps apparently. He so badly wanted to go down and have a swim, he was trembling with excitement. He is 9 years old and his lovely mummy has had him since he was 4 weeks old - she totally dotes on him and he's the sweetest boy. I got a lot of cuddles too... *grin* The shadier seagull shots were taken while I was sitting at a bench throwing bits of my rock cake (which was very yummy) up into the air in front of me - the seagulls "hugging" was a mid air collision... lol! Even though I didn't end up doing what I'd planned to do for the day, it wasn't a complete waste - I did get some pretty cool pics after all... *grin* T. -

Last lot... seagulls... There you go... I'm pretty happy with most of these. The ones that have some blur still tell a pretty cool story, and I think the blur seems to show how frenetic the little buggers get when they think there's food about... *grin* T. -

OK... but there were so many seagull pics to sort through... *grin* I'll start with this awesome little dog I met on the promenade at Manly surf beach - his name was Socs, and he wanted to go play in the water so badly... A cormorant sitting on a pylon at Little Manly beach near the ferry wharf... Surf crashing over rocks... A crow that was shooed away from some guy's lunch... it was a very persistent crow though... A seagull taking a drink from a small fountain in the Corso... More coming... -
Would You Feed Treats A Random Dog At The Dog Park?
tdierikx replied to ❤LovesPoodles❤'s topic in General Dog Discussion
I always ask if a stranger's dog is allowed treats - then I make them sit for it if they are allowed. Love your suggestion pepe001... that's gold! T.
