What qualifications do Rangers and pound staff required to have nowadays? I remember that in my Cert 2 Animal Studies course we were taught specifically to be able to check for signs of death in the First Aid subject... and it's actually not that bloody hard to do. T.

Annandale Vet is good also... not sure about specialty in specific breeds, but all the vets there are awesome... T.

Benny from Benny and the Pets is an awesome vet... amazing with all breeds IMO... My friend who breeds and shows Weimeraners usues Rob Zammit at Vineyard Vet... but that's a pretty hefty drive from Alexandria... errr! T.

I'm lucky that my dogs are large breed mixes... 'cos the number of poisoned rats they have caught over the years is quite large... errr! They don't tend to eat them (that I know of), just usually bring them to me to show what efficient hunters they are... lol! T.

I'll concede that she may have trusted the trainers of the dogs in the setup of this exercise... but putting yourself in a situation with highly aroused trained attack dogs in a noisy and unfamiliar environment does seem kinda ready made for a mishap, no? Hopefully she learned a valuable lesson from this incident. T.

Put a layer of cardboard or newspaper under the blanket for extra insulation... I use the old style woollen blankets for my dogs in winter, and a sheet or thin towel in summer. T.

All my rescue pups were taught the command "give" using high value toys that they didn't normally get to play with. The object was to be have them spit out whatever was in their mouth on command... reward with the toy was given once they spat out whatever was in their mouth. Eventually there was no need for the toy reward, but a "good boy/girl" and a nice pat for doing what they were told. My current 3 dogs will spit out anything they have when the command "give" is uttered... and that's no mean feat with 3 food obsessed dogs... *grin* T.
