Both breeds are super smart & many individuals may not be suited to obedience trialling because they find the regime boring..... particularly heel work. My advice is to therefore look at the lines that are competing successfully & also consider what else you want to do with your dog.... herding? agility? tracking?..... & as others have said look for a puppy with the temperament & drive that you can live with for up to 14+ years. Find a breeder who is ethical & with whom you can form a good relationship so that you can get the puppy that fits your lifestyle &, with luck thrown in, your goals. The MDBA is a good place to start.

Thanks for reminding me! I have been as a spectator before & it is an awesome sight! Some great photo opportunities for enthusiasts too -
Andrew Darlow is currently the guest author on Dogwise Forums. He is promoting his latest book & is available to answer questions on pet photography until June 21st. He has already tackled the perennial questions of how to best capture black (& white) dogs. If anyone is interested, have a look here There hasn't been much response to the forum yet, so it may be worth joining & asking a question...... there is a complimentary book on offer for each of the best three questions!

You never know, FHRP, we may wake up to snow in the morning at Bungendore - it is sleeting tonight & the escarpment often gets a dusting in winter.

Love those puddle shots..... great capture!

Pointees, in UK there was a cat food ad on TV when I was a kid. The cat was called Arthur, he was white & used to scoop the food out of an opened can & eat it off his paw. Lots of people said they had pulled his teeth out to make him eat this way, of course this was always refuted. Maybe there is an opening for your kitty in advertising? It would be nice if she could at least earn her keep

Bit of a story here..... On Saturday morning a cockatoo was driving us mad with the racket it was making & OH tried to scare it away. Reaching for my camera, I could see, by using the lens, that it had frayed baling twine entangled around one leg & it was ensnared very high up (about 10m) in our old Robinia. At a loss how to get up to get it down we called the SES..... One member climbed the tree using a ladder & rope, & although he was passed a saw with a long extension handle, he was still metres too short...... He managed to climb higher, but because of the angle he was too close to the bird..... I think this was a leg shaking moment for him & the bird! Finally he managed to saw through the branch & the bird flapped to the ground whereupon we pounced on it with a blanket.... Basic first-aid was administered, I must confess I thought the leg was dislocated & it looked like he would lose a toe. Wildcare collected him/her to monitor progress overnight, only a youngster, the parents flew in very close to protect him & I must admit I didn't know if he would survive the ordeal. Next day, quite perky, he was released. The leg was swollen & bruised, but not dislocated as he was able to perch. Soon other cockatoos were flocking around him. Within an hour, Mum & Dad had reclaimed the errant youngster, fed him & as you see below, almost snuggled & preened him..... (he is centre in this pic) Sorry this is a long post, but this truly was an example of "capture"

Lamb Flaps From The Fresh Meat Store
trifecta replied to Clyde's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
:D That's what I do, use a block of wood to big to fit in the fire box as a chopping block & a tomahawk..... for lamb flaps, necks & even salmon heads, because they come with spine & tail attached :p Needless to say the dogs race to lick the chopping block after the meal is consumed! -
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned brisket bones - they really stack on weight. Maybe feed these a couple of times a week along with lamb flaps on a couple of days too. Ask the butcher to cut them up for you, then freeze & use as you need them.

hey, westielover, these pics would look good here! Maybe you could also mention he is looking for a home

Cameras Direct have the Nikon D90 body for $1047, & there are prices with a range of lenses here. I have bought several items from Cameras Direct & I have always had fantastic service & have been given very good advice over the phone. I actually went to Domayne & JB Hi-Fi & handled all the different breeds of cameras before finally settling on the D80 with the 18-200mm lens. I then made my purchase from Cameras Direct as their price + postage was the best at the time.
-
Definitely go for the 18 - 200mm lens. I have that on the D80 body & find the lens very versatile.

Point taken anniek! Some Autumn shots from me: & while on holiday in Tasmania, too long ago now!

No I don't believe there is Robbi. I actually come into contact with DVA patients as part of my business, & there is an increasing number of Vets, both Military & AFP, who are seeking psychiatric therapy. I think such a program would be popular in Australia & could save the Government a lot of money.

If you have a spare 15 minutes this is worth listening to..... Puppies Lending a Helping Paw ....particularly towards the end where dogs are trained to call emergency services by dialling 911 if their owner is having a panic attack. I know we have dogs being raised in the prison system here with tremendous results for inmates, but this program goes one step further, & could potentially save Governments hundreds of thousands of dollars. Enjoy......
-
So sorry you have lost your special one, Beatrice God knows you have saved so many others from crossing the bridge & I am sure Bear will be leading the pack when you are all finally reunited.
-
I wouldn't feed roo tail or any weight bearing bones...... they are just too hard & can result in fractured teeth. Flaps, necks, spine bones are all fine.

Met A New Breed Today But Can't Find The Proper Name

I'd hardly call the Pyrenean Mountain dog tiny weighing in at about 80kg! I grew up in UK watching Belle & Sebastian on the TV, so I am familiar with this breed, LOL! Certainly does not have ringlets!
