  1. You mean like this? :D Very cute! I love the video footage running with the beagle alongside. But when do we get Daisy weaving action? :D
  2. Woot! Go Daisy!!! We need some Beagle weaving videos
  3. Woohoo go Nicole!!!!! Sounds like a fantastic start to the trialling year!
  4. Lucky duck Would love to train with someone once or twice a week, or even once a fortnight :D gspmadhouse, sounds like Kaleb is doing well! I need to do some more training with Ruby. I did a little bit this week but only for about 5 minutes each session to keep her enthusiasm up. I threw 3 dummies in 3 different directions and sent her for them one at a time and she nailed them :D Did a few singles with Millie and she's bringing them back with gusto and delivering to hand so I'm pleased with her, too
  5. LOL. I think it does become easier because you baby sit less and trust more and you don't get lost as often. It also gets harder as the dogs drive more because it puts more pressure on you to get to the right spot and improve your timing. If ever I come back as an agility novice there is no way I will be trying to learn with a BC. I will pick a dog I can actually keep up with! I'm off to start another thread! I know what you both mean. While Ruby is still inexperienced, she has a lot more confidence in what she is doing than Millie does, and in turn, I have more confidence in her with the way I run the course. I don't have to babysit obstacles as closely as I do with Millie. It feels like it flows so much easier with Ruby and quite a challenge with Millie Watching Ruby's video back, I think running it FELT cleaner than it actually looked if that makes any sense. I'm going to be doing classes with Millie this year so hopefully she will soon have the same confidence in running a course like Ruby does
  6. Well done Toby!! That is great RV!! :D And yes, after having a go at running 2 Aussies, I can safely say that I love running a slower dog, gives me more time to think and keep up But I do also enjoy running faster dogs, it's quite a buzz, and I think if I get to run Brookie some more then it will hopefully help my handling skills as I'll have to be more on the ball to keep up and get my crosses in faster!
  7. And for those wanting some entertainment, here are 2 Labradors running a jumping course last night I think the entertainment comes from the dopey handler's running style :D But Ruby ran a clear round and Millie tried so hard with her lack of training so I couldn't be happier!! Ruby: Millie: The true entertainment comes from the Strat Pairs round, but that video will stay shelved for the moment
  8. The rules of agility and obedience are very different. You can't compare them at all, very different disciplines. You can say what you like in an agility ring, when you want to and as many times as you want to say it, whereas obedience the commands (when to say them and how many times you can say them) are very much apart of the rules.
  9. OK, here are our jumping rounds from last night Clear round for Ruby, not so clear for Millie :D But I couldn't be prouder of both of them, regardless of outcome! Please no laughing at my pathetic running Handler still needs to learn a lot about handling, too Ruby: Millie:
  10. What's the difference between a valve and valveless dummy?
  11. That Springer pup is so cute!! Kathq, can you please tell me if postage was expensive for your bumpers you bought from that website? I think I saw postage quoted on there at some ridiculous rate, but sometimes when you contact places they adjust accordingly, so just wondering what you paid?
  12. You'd get a hoot out of the Strat Pairs effort 2 Labs in the ring, neither are perfect weavers Ruby can weave, but doesn't always nail it first go, but we had a ball in that ring too even though it was a complete disaster I will upload the jumping rounds, might take a while but I will post the videos when they're up I really love running them in jumping. They might not be fast, but when there's a straight of jumps they can pick their speed up a bit and it's a lot of fun! And it's good for me cos I don't think I could keep up with a faster dog! I've run 2 Aussies before and I struggle to keep up Me and my Labs make a good agility team based on the slow factor
  13. Well done AD! Great run! We had our fun teams event last night (and Strat Pairs) and very proud to say that my team placed We came 16th! (out of 16 ) :D We had an absolute ball though, which is what it is all about! Both my girls DQ'd in agility (apart from the fact that the handler forgot about the tunnel at the end of the course both runs, Ruby also skipped the contact equipment), then the jumping round Ruby got a clear round  Millie, a lot less experienced than Ruby, worked her little booty off on the jumping course and some handler errors caused some bars down and refusals, but I couldn't be prouder of her! Especially in the home stretch, it might not seem like a lot, but she kept going without stopping to turn around to look at me for direction so if I just take that away from last night I couldn't be happier!
  14. I'd love to see how a hearing impaired person would be able to lip read while executing a heel pattern... But it does make one think how exactly does a hearing impaired person get to compete if they so wish (which has absolutely nothing to do with the OP.) Yes because clubs can afford to hire a translator for such an event..... I don't believe translation is required, what's the point? It's already been discussed that an English speaking person can cue their dogs with the names of fruit if they want to, so why the need to translate words of another language to English to see if their commands translate to "stay" or "pear"? As long as the commands are disclosed when they seek permission to use another language, the judge can just assess if they believe the foreign language commands comply with our rules (ie. one word).
  15. Wo HOo what a great first up effort  and for those on FB - NO your bum didn't look big ;) I didn't notice a big bum either and again I forgot to look for it ;)
  16. Yes there were distractions alright! Much more than an obedience trial which was a bit much for Millie, which is why I would also love to see one of these combined practice trials a few times a year too, more chance to proof Millie's obedience skills in such a distracting environment
  17. And you were still one of the last to leave after the lights went out Last night was awesome, thanks so much Rusky for organising and I really hope we raised a lot of funds! I managed to cram a bit in last night but would have liked to do one more jumping round with Ruby. I did an Open obedience round with both girls, a novice jumping course (with weavers) with Ruby, novice agility with Millie (proud of her! we didn't execute the weaves very well as she was only 1 day into actually weaving all 12 :D but the rest was good!), did the tunnel challenge with Millie, then a novice agility round with bedazzled's Brooklyn - soooo much different to handle than my girls (obviously!) Where I have plenty of time to get a front cross in with my girls, I was too late with him, causing him to knock a bar. He was a lot of fun, hopefully you'll let me run him again bedazzled :D Well done Candice and Mason on their CCD round, it was lovely to watch!! I didn't get to watch your CCD round mirawee but you said it was good so yay ;) ;) I did some heelwork with Ruby in a ring by ourselves and she worked beautifully, but couldn't execute the same with a judge. I think we both just can't perform well with a judge, too much pressure and distraction I have a personal challenge I need to overcome, and that is my ring nerves to get the best out of my dogs!!
  18. Good point. I was going through the usual commands in my head and couldn't come up with a 2 syllabe one Stand, Down, Drop, Sit (yes this used! COP), Fetch, Give, Heel, Come, Box, Find.... oooh just thought of another 2 syllable one, some people use "Finish" for dogs to return to heel I think. Not sure if that is allowed?
  19. She said fencing MEN, not MAN. If there's a young good looking one there Ptolomy, well you have my number
  20. I shouldn't underestimate what my Moo is capable of ;) Lots of work to do still on getting them 100%, same with Ruby's. But at least both of them have basic 12 pole weaving skills now Hey - I will take Ruby for remedial dogwalk training and you can do remedial weavers with Soggy - Deal or NO Deal You know what, if you are serious, I would gladly do that training trade. But can you throw in teaching see-saw as well?
  21. Lara has gone down hill over the last 6 weeks, we are seeing Deb on Tuesday to talk about where to from here. ;) Hope Deb can sort her out! Damn oldies, it's heartbreaking
  22. Dating more than one man at the same time, what do they think of that? And better yet - how did you manage that you little hussy!! :D
  23. All commands must be one syllable long. Short and sharp. I guess having it longer could be construed as an extended signal? If the command in another language is still only one syllable, I have no issue with it. But I still voted no because I think the rules are fine the way they are - if someone wants to use another language they can just ask permission from the judge and at the same time explain what the commands will be
