Just a small grrr - I work in a small office, and there is one guy behind my partition who just DOESN'T SHUT UP!!! I get into the office in the morning, he's gasbagging away about random things to anyone who will listen. And it doesn't stop for most of the day! Totally sick of the sound of his voice

boxagirl, sorry I was half dead last night when I was posting and forgot to comment on poor Bondi Glad you've found out what is wrong and hopefully with some management she will be painfree! Welcome back! Lucky Rosie! I hate the stingers in the water down south, ruins perfectly good swimming water. I love swimming but refuse to swim in anything with creepy crawlies in it You want a Lab puppy, too? Go on, you know you do :)

Holy cow emery! I'm staying AWAY from your gazebo cos I'm meant to be eating better! You almost make me want to get a show Rotti just so I can sit with your group with the gourmet banquets But I'd end up "rolling" around the ring with all that food I'll most likely be there on the weekend, getting more Lab puppy cuddles and having a play with a couple of dogs :D May bring Ruby down so I can work her between all the exciting people and dogs like I did last weekend. It is a tough environment for her to concentrate in! She sees the other Labradors and her eyes light up like the mother ship is calling her home!

I can't get over how well you guys eat in your gazebo at shows I never did pop by for that bacon breakfast you advertised last time

Retrieving & Field Training Talk
RubyStar replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Ohhh where from? (asks the only person sad enough to hang out in this thread without a gundog ... yet ) http://shop.dogsunlimited.com/list.asp?d=17&p=1 One of the few places I found where I could buy both the canvas and valveless rubber ones. Was postage expensive? -
I've got 4 seekback articles from the lady in WA. The first two apparently weren't permitted for use in the ring so she was lovely and made me another 2 free of charge. So I use my non-trial permitted ones for training, works out well

Yes a little yellow pup. So lots of work for me to do as I want Mason up and running in the trial ring before New Addition comes home. I will bring Brookies ball on friday night for you. :D If I was in the position, I'd love one of the pups from this mating, too :D I was a naughty girl and got Millie before Ruby hit the ring :D Now Millie is set to overtake Ruby in the ring Ruby just might be a little bit "spethal".

I'm so sorry to hear this, Gayle With the quoted bit, I hoped the same for my 19 (almost 20) year old cat. She went downhill overnight and I hoped she would just go in her sleep but I got home from work and she was obviously in excrutiating pain. I left it too long to end her pain, so at midnight I had a vet come out and end her pain for her. It was heartbreaking, but the right thing to do. Maybe you and your husband can compromise and have a vet come to you so she still gets to pass away at home? Hugs to you I have an almost 17 year old maltese living with my parents, she's blind and going deaf so I fear we don't have much time with her, either

You should have come and said HI - Rubystar was with me and Fetchemup was helping me Cider beat Strauss so its now 3:2 in her favour. Well done with Kelari And I got to have Lab puppy cuddles last night

Can't believe it took 14 pages for someone to post some photos I think this thread needs more, we need to know what these dogs look like that we're talking about

When can I do some practice with Brookie? Oh and there was a muesli thread in Off Topic on how to make your own, think I might give it a try! I love muesli, but not when they load it with sultanas, ick!! I'm not sure yet, got a work thing. Bummer they're on the same nights

The problem with choc Lab breeders is that the "breeders" are seeing the public demand for a chocolate Lab so they are breeding them with little if any regard to bettering the breed. They are being bred for quantity, not quality, so there ends up being many less quality choc labs out there because of this demand. A chocolate lab from a breeder who is breeding from good quality dogs is just as good quality as any other colour in the litter, and differs in no way temperament wise to blacks and yellows. And because of this demand, many breeders are charging more for chocolate I don't think these topics get as heated as the blue stafford topics because choc labs are part of the standard, my understanding blue staffords are undesirable because they don't have black noses (and other reasons?) which are not part of the standard? My chocolate was a rescue by the way, not from a reputable breeder I assume as her nose is pink (but is in perfect health). I would refuse to fork out extra $$ for a colour! My favourite personally is yellow and I was going to get another yellow, but my choc girl "spoke" to me through the rescue website so I got her instead

I don't know of any dogs that want to be on top of you all the time Do you have specific examples? I only ask because I find you may be disregarding a bunch of people focused breeds under the false impression that they want to sit on top of you all the time Mine love to be with me but they lay on the floor while I'm on the lounge, don't even attempt to get up! Comes down to how they are raised. My BC does. But only when she's inside, outside she's just "BALL BALL THROW THE BALL". But if I'm on the lounge, she'll want to lay on me, if she's sleeping inside she'll be right next to me if not laying on me. But my point was it usually comes down to how they are raised, you've probably let her (edit: not saying this is a bad thing, comes down to personal choice). Mine know their place is on the floor, lounge is out of bounds. I have invited Ruby up a few times, and the times I have invited Millie up she stays 30 secs then jumps off herself (and she is the one who is my shadow a bit more). Sorry huski, maybe mine didn't come across properly either - I wasn't saying you don't want a people focused breed, I was trying to say that maybe you are disregarding some people focused ones under the impression that they are clingy, too. I don't articulate myself very well, either

I think it's just going to be regarded as "another trial".....

I enjoy running my "slow and steady" Lab in agility but after running a friend's Aussie once, I can see how the more drivey dogs are more appealing! It was soooooooooo much fun! Ruby has more speed in her yet, just need to find a way to get it out Millie can be a bit of a rocket, though! She is more fun to train than Ruby, sorry Roo! Mine are people oriented and want to be in the same room as me all the time, but they definitely are not clingy. I think people are assuming gundogs are clingy because they like to be with their people, couldn't be further from the truth! Those videos of the Pumi doing agility are awesome

Agreed! I was purely "Lab only" until I stumbled across all these other breeds out there that I had no idea existed! Now I want to try many! But I will always come back to the Lab. Once I've tried a few and my Labs are no longer with me, I would like to get another I think even though some try different breeds, there is always one breed our hearts keep coming back to

Nope, I have my future dogs already picked out It's just a matter of deciding which one comes first (Why can't I have them ALL and have them all NOW?! ) 1. Money 2. Time 3. Space Just find a sugar daddy and you'll be fine Where do I find one? Sugar Daddy's 'R' Us?

One day for me! But I would need to learn to be a better trainer, first.

They will be so popular that soon enough they'll be "common" like Labs, Goldies and Kelpies I know huski definitely doesn't want a Lab, but even though they are a common "pet" breed, I do have to say that there really aren't that many Labs competing compared to other breeds! huski, go another Beagle They are on my maybe list. They were dog #2 for me after Lab, but now they've been pushed back to #4 or #5

I renewed in Aug 2010 with Medibank Private for one dog and Oct 2010 with PetPlan for another, and I think they both stayed the same I suspect them to go up next time, not because I've made claims, but just because that's the way it always works. But the amount some of them are going up is ridiculous, that I am thinking that I might be better off just cancelling both and putting that money aside for emergencies! But knowing my bad luck, I do that then one of my dogs will have an accident and I will get a nice hefty bill! I can't understand how much they differ though. KJ's example, she's made many pricey claims and it only goes up $1, while others don't claim and get hit hard. Different insurers yes, but it seems to be differing within same insurers, too!

oh geez that is awful, poor Mason!!!

The joys of puppy ownership Wish I had found DOL when Ruby came home, would have given me something to do in those first weeks. The first week we would get up around 7-7.30am and after a little play, she konked out on the floor and me on the lounge. But it certainly wasn't restful, I had to sleep with one eye open to catch her when she woke up so she wouldn't chew something or more so not pee on the carpet! Puppies are so stressful, remind me again why I actually want one?
