I'm not sure about others but I don't think I've ever done a complete ring runout in training and left rewarding til the end. I still always reward in training (quite frequently not enough :D). Not sure if that answers anything Do we get to see your training video? ;)

As always, I'm the only one who will listen to me!

Right....I think Might have to dust off the box on Monday night to double check! Has Alex ever mixed a box signal? Do we know yet if K9 is open after 5pm?

Hi Tiggy - sorry I never answered you about heeling with your arm outstretched. When we had our lesson we were supposed to teach the dog an extended hand target and once the dog knew this to have your hand just above the dogs nose so that it is prancing in an upward manner. Your arm should be outstretched and you make sure that it is always in line with your shoulder or heel position (never forward or behind you). All very good if you have tall dogs, but in my case Strauss was just a puppy and I felt that I was leaning backwards. So I decided I would hold my hand up high and drop the occasional bit of food which seemed to work for us. And I can't be bothered teaching that extended hand touch so I hold my hand out too and drop the food like Ptolomy does. Millie is quite a good catch! You can hear the CHOMP as she catches it

You've described me and my girls I am more animated usually with Millie and have a lot more fun... while I go through the motions with Ruby and more flat... and she's more flat because of it. Or am I flat because she's flat She is soooooooo hard to psych up, whereas with Millie all I have to do is look at her and she's raring to go! I think the dog's attitude and our attitude go hand in hand and we feed off each other. Sigh!! I'm trying to make it all fun with Ruby again, and today's session was good Did some box shaping with Millie and the smart cookie got it within a couple of tries! Took a lot longer to shape that with Ruby and Ruby is the better one at shaping This is Ruby, too Millie loves me to interact with her, she thrives on it. Ruby would rather I just reward with food or toys. I am trying to be more touchy feely with Ruby to see if she will learn to like it, not sure if she will though! The most I will get is a bit of a cuddle on the lounge but that is as far as touchy feely goes with her.

Stop making excuses Leopuppy I have Scoota's brother living with me now. I got his CD many years ago - when there was two lots of heeling in novice and he was living with my parents. Its amazing he hasn't forgotton anything. He has picked up open COP like he has been doing it all his life. Hmm might just have to bring him out in NFC (not for competition) and see what happens. Yes but there is a BIG difference between a great trainer (being you!) and a novice trainer such as me! But yes, I really should stop making excuses - she is too good to waste in the backyard.... It's all there, I just need to refine it to my liking and enter a darn trial Geez if you're a novice trainer then what am I?! You underestimate yourself LP!!

Great videos, Ptolomy! Strauss looks like a ballerina the way he tiptoes round during his rear end awareness exercises

Well that's one way to put it It's not so much the judges comments that worry me, but peers

I dont mind watching a bit of obedience or agility but I dont enjoy watching dog shows - think its different if your dog is involved but I would take great offense if someone did not like my dogs physique :D I think it depends on the company you're in, too. I had a great night NYE with Ptolomy and RallyValley, and catching up with mirawee and ozjen. If I had to sit by myself and then get told my dog is crap well I wouldn't like that either But if you're with others (and your dog is still crap) well you've had a great night! Nay, we still don't like people thinking our dogs are crap. But yes good company can lessen the blow. Agreed I'm hoping when I get my showdog one day that we might do a half decent job :D :D Being called crap I would just take straight to heart - but as long as my showing party have drinks and chips n dip waiting for me to console me then it's all good

That's what I've been missing then!

I like pubs where you can still hear the conversation. I've been dragged to nightclubs a few times before and absolutely hated every second of it! These days I prefer dog trials/shows where you can sit with like-minded buddies and our dogs with some drinkies and snacks!

Not all of us :D Agreed. I have never been drunk And because I don't drink much alcohol I have never been that keen on going out and watching others get drunk! ok we need to get mirawee at least a bit tipsy ;) I have never been so drunk that I have thrown up, I just don't want to go there as I have images of girls/guys with their heads in the gutter :D However, I have experienced only 2 hangovers in my almost 30 years, not bad I guess And they were in the last 5 years. I do remember one shameful night where I went out for dinner and drinks with friends and they kept buying me drinks as it was a celebration of me leaving a crappy job - well I remember walking down the street, arm around my friend, shouting at the top of my lungs "I hate drunk people like us that walk down the street shouting at the top of their lungs" :D How lame I am such a nanna!!! :D Love my cocktails, though! Mirawee, come join us for cocktails one night

Millie was spayed just over 2 years ago, at what we think was around 2 years of age (she's a rescue), and started being incontinent a year ago. Only when she's drunk heaps, so I don't find any wet patches in winter when she drinks less. We're off to see the vet just as soon as I remember to make that appointment, as she had a bad episode last week!

Loved this :D - bless her little chocolate heart. And on her weave progress - sounds like the penny is dropping nicely. Thankfully I haven't been stung by a wasp as yet, bees are scary enough! I remember my mum and sister being attacked by a bunch of wasps when they cut a tree back and didn't know there were wasps living in it! I do have wasps that hang around my yard, though :D They especially like to hang out where the water drips from the aircon, thirsty little buggers. And the dog water bowl that is near the back door. And yes I loved the 2o2o tunnel contact, it was hilarious At first I didn't understand why she kept stopping at the end of it, then the penny dropped for me what she was doing Such a smart girlie -

SG forgot to put a bee sting warning on 2x2 weave training! I was out in the backyard this morning doing a few more reps with Millie with 6 poles () when I felt something sting near my armpit. I swiped at it with my hand to hear/see a bee buzz out of my shirt I tore that shirt off so fast that I thought I ripped it No idea how it got there. It's short sleeved with flappy arms and I was picking dog poo up prior so maybe when I leant down it decided to fly in And my mum wonders why I am terrified of bees and wasps :D Not that I am allergic (thankfully), but they are just damn scary!! That weave session ended just as quickly as it started But the good news is I have Millie doing a jump followed by 6 weaves now Still lots of work to do at different angles, but I'm so chuffed! -

Have you tried paw wax? That can help give a bit of protection. Nope, tried nothing yet as I have no idea what to try Where would I get this from? And do I just apply a layer to her paws? (I assume it's of a similar texture to vaseline/papaw ointment?) -

Ruby is the type of dog to stop dead in her tracks on a walk if she needs to wee NOW so I'm a bit scared Does anyone have any tips for toughening up dogs pads? Ruby is what I'd call a bit of a "princess" - as soon as we walk on the road, she starts limping like the surface hurts her paws. She is fine on footpaths and grass, but that damn road So I am a bit concerned how she'd handle the different surfaces for the ET and am hoping there is something I can do to toughen the princess up! What is the ballot thing that is being talked about? Are there a certain number of spots available in each ET so if there are more entries than spots your name gets pulled out for a spot? -
Yup yup me definitely thinks you should go the furry ugg boots in the ring
