Ouch how did that work out?! I only did middle of the night toilet breaks for the first week and maybe part of week 2. After that it was toilet before bed around 11pm-12am, then out for a wee around 6am (then back to the crate so mummy could go back to bed ) I would make sure when I am looking for my next dog that I time it so it's a warm weather homecoming, but if I can't, the toilet stops only last a week or 2 so I guess I could drag myself out in the cold/rain

We could say the same about you and summer :D Glad Daisy is doing better!

Order Of Titles On Pedigree
RubyStar replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I've been guilty of this, although less the discipline I like the best, but titles that have been what I regard as a big achievement. With so many agility titles on offer now, often my dogs name is cut off in Catalogues, and I hate to see his retrieving title missed, we worked bl**dy hard for that! ;) So I usually put the gundog titles, then the obedience, then agility If it was in order of what I like best, then yeah, obedience would be tacked on the end If I was to ever get a retrieving title of some sort, I would probably list mine obedience, retrieving, then agility, then anything else ;) The amount of different agility titles on offer, everything else just gets lost in there. They lose their effect after the 10th agility title listed -
One I invite in and she happily obliges. The other puts the brakes on so she gets carried in against her will - tough biccies

Oh important point! I have to use Draino semi-regularly to keep ours running freely. My hair + dog fur must be too much. Ooh thanks for the tip! I'm still clueless with all these cleaning products, I've had my mum to worry about all that, but I finally moved out of home and have to think of these things myself now

I try to catch as much hair as I can before it goes down the drain (and with Labs, there's heaps!!) but some always goes down there. Not good for my old drain, gets clogged easy I need to find a way to get the grate off so I can pull out all the crap that's down there - mainly my hair :D

I don't shower WITH my dogs, but for the first time I took them into the shower to wash them (after the beach so had my swimmers on). Found the process so much easier - could use warm water, no bees hanging around :D, and it contained one of my dogs who hates a bath and tries to run away I have one of those shower heads though that are attached by a rope thingy so I can take it off the hook and use it that way, soooooo much easier! I found the after process more of a pain, though. Dog hair all over the bathroom (Labs x 2!) but I waited 20 minutes for it to dry then took the vacuum into the bathroom and all clean! Biggest plus is I could lock the dogs in there to dry them instead of having them run around the yard, rolling on the grass and in the dirt to get dry! Oh and I only bathed them one at a time!

Why Do You Like The Kinds Of Dogs You Do?
RubyStar replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I'm almost at the point where choice of breeder would probably be as influential on selecting a breed as the dogs themselves. The right breeder makes such a difference. If I was tossing up between a few breeds, my guess is that the right breeder would be a deciding factor. Very true PF. I guess for me at the moment, the deciding factor is what my intended purpose is with the dog. If I want to continue training retrieving (plus obedience/agility), Lab it is. If I don't, Aussie it is (purely for obedience/agility). If I don't want to do any dog sports, or at least not seriously, ES it is. It's a tough decision -

I WILL own one of these one day, when I don't require a full on Gundog like my beautiful Labs :D Received my free Eukanuba puppy book tody with voucher and the first page I flick to has an English Setter puppy They are just beautiful dogs and I must own one in my lifetime :D I have to say I'm a huge ES fan.. maybe one day.. Mind you I picture one after a romp in long grass or mud and thank Heaven for the Whippet! ;) I know that one day thanks to ST :D I will always have an ES in the house! And I am also pretty sure that they will be the spoiled footwarmer-sleep on the bed dog One day, one day for me... when I am retired from dog sports or I have enough room and income to allow for an extra dog around the place that has no other purpose but to be my footwarmer and lap warmer, too I love Labs so much, keep umming and ahhing over getting a boy next (must be yellow, they are just :D to me), but I also want to try my hand at an Aussie Shepherd :D But must say, ES keep tugging at my heart strings!! -
I will never have a winter puppy! No thankyou!!! Standing in the middle of the yard at 3am waiting for your dog to poop glad wrap at 9 weeks old (and then having to pull it out) in winter doesn't seem so appealing next time round He's gorgeous :D

Order Of Titles On Pedigree
RubyStar replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks everyone! You confirmed my suspisions that obedience comes first, then agility (and then others after that I guess). I'm guessing though that people tend to list their own order sometimes, usually starting with the discipline they like best I've seen many agility dogs in catalogues that have all their agility titles listed and then their obedience one is tacked onto the end Yep for sure, though I was just curious as to if there was actually a method to the madness or not :D I don't currently have to worry for now, I only have CD on both dogs at the current time :D But I'm planning on expanding in the future -
Just wondering if anybody knows if there is a particular order that titles show on your dog's pedigree? I was wondering if they get appended in the order you get them, or are they ordered by a pre-defined discipline order for everyone? Or something else? If they get appended in the order you get them, what about those titles that "upgrade"? For eg. If a dog has CD, then they were to get their JD, I assume they'd be CD JD, but then what if they gets their CDX? Will it be CDX JD or JD CDX? It's late, I'm bored, hence the really weird question! But I've seen people with several titles and there doesn't appear to be any sort of order to them, so curiosity is getting the better of me.

Yep, TOTALLY my Labs right there I can't rustle in a bag without 2 noses appearing inside it for a sticky beak I can't bend down to the ground to get a DVD out of the cupboard without 2 faces appearing to lick me to see what I'm doing Lucky for me I love them wanting to be apart of everything I do -

I love the exuberance and love of life of a Gundog Smart, trainable, willing to please, but just as willing to sleep all day by your side if you let them! -
I still think you should have called him Barry - I can just see it at presentations judges trying to say Binnaburra Barry Looking forward to meeting the little fella Bazzzzzaaaaaaaaaa!!!
-
Woohoo puppy breath, it's now official for you :D So are you just going to be calling him "Jack" for his pet name, or will you be saying that full name all the time? When do I get to meet him? ;)
-
Upload photos to somewhere like www.photobucket.com then grab the link to paste in here. The link to chose from photobucket is the one with [ img ] [ /img ] on either side of the url. So is the puppy actually home yet or not? And what name did you decide on (if any yet?)
-
Is bedazzled's puppy home already? Enjoy!!!!!!!!! Mmmm puppy breath!!

I caught the news finally this afternoon (I rarely see it) so got to see just how bad the floods are, and the fires So sad for everyone affected ;) We do need the rain but I will take the dry over flooding anyday. My house will survive a bit of water as it's a bit higher (not a lot) so too much flood and it'd get me, too. That freak hail storm we had last year and a few things flooded, my house was ok but mum and dad had water come in one side of the house and ruin their carpets. I remember wading in knee deep water at Cannington train station, then wading through some more of it along Albany Hwy so I could catch a bus home! Water was coming into the bus as the roads were flooded That was enough flood for me, I really hope we don't even experience that again. Poor QLD people ;)

Retrieving & Field Training Talk
RubyStar replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Did a teensy bit of retrieving training tonight while out at agility (and snuck in some obedience too, nothing like multi-tasking ) Someone threw a dummy for me, I asked Ruby to leave it, we turned and another was thrown. Sent her for the second, then lined her up and sent her for the first once she returned with the first. She was a good little girl and is progressing well ;) I made the mistake of sending her for the second when her lead was sitting on the ground in her path. Being such a novice, this confused her and she wasn't sure what it was she was meant to go for. I removed the lead, set her up again, and sent her. She nailed it that time I will slowly introduce things in her path, but she just wasn't ready for that at this stage. Though once when she was sent for one in some long grass she found something on the way, picked it up, decided that wasn't what she was meant to get and dropped it, then continued on and found the dummy ;) But the lead thing just threw her I guess cos she recognised it as hers! (and she loves to carry her lead around in her mouth - and makes happy grunty noises and wiggles her bum while showing anyone who will spare her a minute to look ;)) -
Very cute Cosmolo! Well I almost didn't go to training tonight. I was exhausted when I got home from work so sat on the lounge for a bit, which turned into a nanna nap. That ended up sucking every ounce of energy out of me and I would have been better off not napping! Anyway I dragged my sorry butt out to training and glad I did. Managed to train a bit of agility, obedience and retrieving with both girls, it's great fun switching between the three on the one night  Then they can't get bored of me drilling the same things in one session.

Agility Training Talk Thread
RubyStar replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Took Millie's weaves "on the road" tonight and she still remembers how to weave 6 when not in the backyard I'm gonna be brave and set up the two sets of 6 on Thursday night with the gap between and see if I can get her doing both ;) Whoops I haven't filmed the 6 yet since our woeful 4 poles video ;) We still have a bit of work to do with me running down the left hand side of the weaves with her though, she just doesn't like it for some reason and expects me to be on the right! (hmm might be an obedience thing? ) -
